This is a cat 5 Marriott hotel that is only a 10 minutes walk to dundas and younge. Being a cat 5 and a decent rate for a downtown Toronto hotel is a pretty good fine. This is smaller than some of the others in the area that you can pay 100-200 more per night, but this recently renovated hotel... More

This is a beat-up worn out hotel with narrow hallways and small rooms with limited bathrooms. The location is sketchy at best, as it is not in a nice area of Toronto and you have to walk 20 blocks before you get to the nicer areas of the waterfront. The elevators are tiny and the carpets are a mess. A... More

Easy (valet) parking and within easy walking distance of most places in downtown Toronto. It is not a luxury hotel but the rooms are more than adequate and breakfast is great. If you are a smoker book one of the corner rooms with a balcony.

I have always kept average expectations on Courtyards and this one matches my expectations. The hotel is located far from the center and there aren't many choices of restaurants nearby. The hotel itself requires some upgrades, although to be fair, they were in the middle of some renovation on the ground floor.

We stayed for a night with our two little kids. The room was big, two beds and a pull-out, bathroom was very nice and everything was neat and clean. The elevators are disastrous, way too small and we had to wait over 15 min no matter what time to fit in as a family. The location of the hotel is... More

This was a nice Marriott. I understand it has gone through recent renovations and it looked fine. Very busy which equates to popular to me, the staff was professional and polite.. Our room was comfortable. The towels could be a bit nicer for Marriott but we walked out and went everywhere. I would stay there again. Nice Starbucks in the... More

This Courtyard has gone through a recent renovation, so it is up to expectations for a typical Courtyard property. Rooms are clean, have adequate space, and the bed is comfortable. There are a couple oddities with rooms, though. The toilet and shower area is totally separate from where the sink is, it's down a bit of a hall in the... More

We stayed here for a long weekend. Location is convenient with a short walk to the Eaton Centre. Subway stop is a block over. The room was nice clean and with all amenities. We had a breakfast included. In the past there used to be a full restaurant but it is now a Starbucks plus. You get a choice of... More

The service is pretty bad, the first day there wasn't hot water for few hours, next day the cleaning service left garbage on the floor. The front door card reader didn't work, the bell desk service were very rude... oh well I was pretty disappointed of this hotel. I never expect a "By Marriot" hotel to be this bad. The... More

This courtyard hotel is not up to the usual standard and was disappointing. Staff training needs to be looked into. Upon a very late (3.30am) arrival the clerk immediately took off for 10 minutes to come back and informed us that we had not pre-paid room our room and the amount was only a deposit. He then wanted to cancel... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
