Despite their problems (broken lift, wonky wc) the staff were first-rate, and we could laugh about the noisy ac and the fact that the smoke alarm went off when we used the toaster, regardless of for how long. Well situated for a flavour of multicultural Toronto and the Art Gallery of Ontario (top tip) For a bargain lunch, go to the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral basement (5 minutes away)

I was in Toronto for a funeral. I chose this hotel by proximity to the Billy Bishop Airport and price. In hind sight, perhaps a longer ride and a few more bucks would have been smarter. When you have to get buzzed into a hotel, you know there is an issue in the area. Front desk area is tiny, dingy and locked from street and hotel hallway. Elevator doesn’t work. So only choice is to walk up creepy stairs. Security lock on door is similar to what you would see on a bathroom stall. Room seemed clean. Thin walls leaves you hearing strange things all night. Lesson learned! If you are female, do not stay here alone....not safe

We paid £93 for this hotel. It was basic but clean and tidy. The lift was broken but someone was found to carry our case upstairs for us. Once past the fire escape type iron stairs, the room was quite acceptable. it was clean and had cooking facilities and there was also a laundry. We slept well and the bed was comfortable. The hotel recommended Java for breakfast which was just down the road. This hotel is excellently placed for theatres, pubs, restaurants and transport. The taxi ride was 12 dollars from the station. Without a heavy case we could have done it by public transport. So given the prices of accommodation in Toronto, I can recommend this hotel and of course you can prepare basic food here which keeps the cost down. Don't be put off by the reception as it gets better once inside. Staff were helpful.

This 'no frills' hotel is just what the seasoned traveller will love! it is certainly budget-friendly. My room was clean and comfortable. The TV received an amazing number of channels. The small kitchenette helps with easy to make meals. The private bathroom is a luxury that most hotels or hostels at this price point do not offer.

This is an affordable B & B in the heart of Toronto’s trendy Queen Street area. If you want a no frills, self-catering, studio type room ((double and single bed) that’s handy for the amazing, Downtown area with its bars, clubs, shops, theatre and arts - then this hotel is for you. The reception staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming and the reception area offered a good selection of snacks and drinks. It was a perfect for an impromptu overnight visit and was good for the price.
