I was recently back at the madison after three years. Things were sliding then but that trend has continued. I was in a room with a fireplace thank goodness because the heating system didn't work (in January!). It blew air but no heat. There were no spare blankets in the room and just a light bedspread on the bed. I... More

When I have had work to do the free wifi has met my needs, The pub and restaurant in the adjoining building is a nice place to end a busy day of... More

I needed a place in Toronto close to the subway and to the University of Toronto, but not at highway robbery room rates. This spot popped up on Booking.com as a "bed and breakfast", which it turned out to be. Warm welcome from accommodating front desk staff, who permitted an early check-in and stashing luggage on departure so I could... More

he pub in the same complex made a quick dinner very easy. The charm of an older inn, rather than the shine of a new highrise hotel. Great location! The Madison Manor Hotel is located in a university area which is not touristy. I loved how it was a block away from Bloor Street which is lined with small restaurants, bakeries and stores. The subway stops nearby, and was clean and felt safe. The Hop-on Hop-Off tour bus also makes a stop on the street behind the hotel which... More

We stayed at the Madison for two weekends in September when all the students were moving back into the nearby frat houses. It wasn't as noisy as I had expected and we had a pleasant stay both times. If you're tall, make sure you don't get room 202 - my head touched the bathroom ceiling and I'm only 5'10". We... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
