Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.

AVOID LIKE A PLAGUE! My bridesmaids booked this hotel for my bachelorette weekend in Toronto & I felt terrible that they spent what they did for such garbage. 1. Multiple websites (Booking.com, Expedia, etc) mention free WiFi. That’s a crock - they charge. Fortunately, I saw prior to check-in that the websites said that, so they gave me an access code to use 2. Not only is parking $25/day, but it’s across the street. Make sure you unload before going to park - we had to lug all of our stuff through a parking garage & then across the street. 3. My fiancé tried to be sweet & send up champagne to one of our hotel rooms for when we checked in. Not only was the staff not helpful trying to figure out which room to put it in (he didn’t know the exact spelling of a last name at first so they wouldn’t even try to find a name similar to that), but he did this weeks ago & they called him HOURS before we were going to check in to tell him they ran out of champagne. They could’ve walked one block away to the LCBO, but chose to be lazy & unhelpful. 4. We asked for more shower towels & they left them in a bag on the door handle, not even inside the room. 5. Housekeeping didn’t fill up the conditioner in the shower & we didn’t realize until someone was already in the shower, so housekeeping sent us the entire massive bottle of it so we could pour it into a plastic cup to use. Joy! 6. The rooms are extremely small. There’s a 0% chance you’ll fit a roll-out cot into a room there. 7. There’s ONE ice machine in the entire place. 8. They completely messed up check-in for one of the groups of girls & gave them room keys to a room that was already checked in to! 9. Their “restaurant” is only open for a couple of hours a day. 10. Their housekeeping clearly doesn’t thoroughly clean... when we were doing our last check before leaving, we found a pair of sandals that didn’t belong to any of us. Not shoved far under the bed, but right at the edge. I could keep going, but these are the most important reasons as to why you should NEVER GO HERE!!!

Good location, nice and clean hotel. We only stayed for a night so it was perfect for that. Loved the TV set up. My only qualm is that you have to pay for WiFi, but that was still not an issue since I was there for such a short time. Overall really great hotel -- was surprised it was priced so low for a stay there!

Flew into Toronto after having a welcomed start to the holiday in New York, had a wonderful start and welcomed when landed. This was until we walked into the Bond Place Hotel when greeted by a woman with an abrupt “Next!”, as young travellers but of age we’ve never had a problem but this woman questioned our ages rather rudely even though we booked though a travel company. She wasn’t very reassuring and making a fuss about legally she wasn’t allowed to check us in until we were 19 (adult ages change in different places 18 in UK 19 in Canada) smirking at her colleague whilst taking $150 of our money anyway which caused unnecessary worry. As first time travellers to Toronto we felt unwelcomed and insecure. The room was nice when we first walked in but looking around at the decor of scateboards and a sliding bathroom door that you could see through we felt like we were in a hostel. Furthermore, WiFi wasn’t free which when paying so much you would expect it to be as they were charging $10 for 24 hours and up to $70 for 4 nights. The maids were on us all the time questioning us, this made us felt like we were being checked up on through management. However, there were positives such as the proximity of the Eaton Centre and the nice man at the counter who ended up giving us free WiFi on the last night... this was perhaps a result of us purchasing a late checkout of 2 hours for around $30 even though there seemed to be confusion about why they were charging us (we felt wrongly charged). Although the decor was very youth hostel the hotel itself was modern and up to date with a nice bathroom and comfortable beds. Wouldn’t personally return to this hotel but it’s fine for a couple of nights tops if you don’t mind not having WiFi.

Hi Mel B, Thank you for your review. I am very saddened to hear you did not enjoy your full experience at The Bond Hotel. Our team takes pride in providing all of our guests with exceptional service. I am very sorry this was not reflected in your stay. I also want to apologize for any inconvenience you endured with regards to our Wi-Fi cost. In order for our hotel to offer the most affordable rates in the city, the hotel deducts the typical Wi-Fi fee most properties include in their initial rates. The Bond Place Hotel likes to give our guests the option of purchasing a Wi-Fi package instead of automatically adding the fee to our room costs. I appreciate all of your feedback and hope you give us another opportunity to exceed your expectations in the future. Best regards, Paul

The hotel is in a great location, just half a block from Dundas Square, the gigantic mall and lots of other shops, restaurants and attractions. The hotel itself is very cute and clean! The room is small but very comfortable, with a big TV, bigger than many other places! Also the room was super clean. I’m always worried about the bathroom to be cleaned or in a good condition! Our bathroom was great, super clean, and the cleaning service was great. The only little detail that I didn’t like is the plastic cups! I like when hotels have glass cups, it is more classy. The staff is very friendly and ready to help! We arrived early and instead of wait, we were able to check in right away. Our room has a wonderful view. Price was good compared to other hotel. WiFi is not free but we didn’t need it at all. So happy about our experience! We will definitely stay at the bond place when we come back to Toronto.
