This is our 3rd trip to this gorgeous property in Stratford. We travel with our 2 small children who love this place. Great indoor pool , outdoor games for the kids . Very close to the river for walks and bike rides . Rooms are gorgeous, love the little treats they always surprise you with . What is really special about this hotel is the staff . From the manager, front desk people , waiters , housekeeping …. they are honestly the loveliest people and truly go out of their way to make you feel special. They really are great with kids and always spoil our girls , this is why we consistently come back here . Not to mention the fabulous food and drinks in the restaurant. Amazing!!! We honestly wouldn’t stay anywhere else in town . If you’re thinking of staying here .. book it , you won’t regret it . We’ll be back again next year for sure !!

Hotel's Favorite
Bottom Line: The hotel is beautiful and very well-maintained, the rooms are spacious and luxurious, the location is excellent, and the friendly and professional staff provides true 5-star service. We have fairly high standards and this was one of our best hotel experiences. We are very much looking forward to returning. My wife and I stayed at The Bruce for two nights for a short relaxing getaway during the week in mid-August 2022. I booked a "Deluxe Garden King Bed" room online directly through the hotel's website. However, shortly after we arrived, we switched to a 'Superior Garden King" in order to get a full-sized balcony with chairs (the website can be misleading re: which rooms have full balconies and which do not). The room itself was huge with luxurious features. The bed was extremely comfortable and everything was very well-maintained. French press coffee maker and coffee in room along with wet bar, kettle, fridge, closet, a number of drawers, safe, desk, lounge area with table, and coat hooks and bench at entry. Large windows that open. Double doors to patio. The highlight my have been the enormous spa-like bathroom. The hotel felt traditional but also new. Good layout with easy access to parking garage, main lobby, and other amenities (we didn't use the pool, hot tub, or gym on this trip). Loved the accommodations overall. Service was very impressive throughout our stay (probably the best part of the trip) -- thanks to Brad and Rebecca who greeted us on Day 1, and the entire staff (sorry for forgetting some names). They provide everything you would expect from a 5-star hotel. Staff were always friendly and helpful. They seem eager to do anything they can to make your stay comfortable. Being a small hotel, it was nice to have many of the staff remember our names when greeting us in the lobby or at the restaurant. Some highlights for us included the complimentary coffee service to the room, 'cookie hotline', and turn-down service. I also appreciated the doorbell and privacy system (electronic vs. door hangers). Breakfast was included in our booking and we enjoyed the selection and quality of the food. While not every item was a hit, the food was very good overall. We were able to select from the a la cart breakfast menu and had access to the full menu. *I alluded to this earlier, but for those who care about the balcony/patio, it's important to note that if you want a walk-out balcony or patio with seating, I believe you must book a "superior" room ("deluxe" rooms only offer a very small Juliet balcony - still with big beautiful double doors, but you can't go out on it and relax). The cost to upgrade is relatively minor (about $35 at the time of writing) and definitely worth it if you like being outside. Everything on the website seemed to suggest that all garden view rooms had the same type of balcony. Thankfully, a room with a full balcony was available and we were quickly moved -- *I really appreciated the staff doing this. We didn't even request a room change (they acted on it so quickly we didn't have much time to); Rebecca could tell I was disappointed during our room tour and we got a phone call from Brad at the front desk within minutes to arrange a move to another available room. Again, The Bruce is a special place to stay and Stratford is a fun little town to visit. We can't wait to go back.

For the past 35 years, we have made it a habit to get to Stratford for 3 plays, minimum, and a few over night stays. The Bruce has ben a destination since the renovation and remodelling. At the heart of that is the restaurant. This trip saw us dining on a wonderful selection of treats, one from the Sharing Menu, and three from the appetizer offerings. From the sharing menu, with the assistance of a very wonderful server named Tristan, we selected the Venison Bresaola. A pleasant plate of slivered Venison with Cherry Tomatoes, peach and Maui Onion compliments. Perfect blend of textures and flavours. Instead of a Main Entrée, we at Tristan's recommendation, we selected 3 appetizers: The Lobster Salad with Watermelon cubettes, Mustard Greens and Musk Melon to open; Endive and Radicchio Salad parsley and Parmesan with a garlic Vinegarettte. Finally came the Bay Scallops and Breakfast Radish which came with a generous amount of Smoked Trout Caviar and Wasabi Greens. All three were perfect, and just adequate for our appetites. Bonus was the 50% reduction in the prices of boiled wines. Well, Tristan didn't have to as twice... We chose a hotel of "Il Cavaliere di Bertiolo" Pinot Grigio from Veneto. Success. Thank you to the Chefs, and to Tristan for making this one of the most enjoyable meals ever at the Bruce.,

Everything was lovely about this hotel. It prides itself in getting the details right. However, they fail on an important such detail and that is making about 25% of Canadians feel that they are not Canadian. They do this by listing French language television channels under "Foreign langages", clearly omitting that French is an official language in this country. Just a bit uncool. Sounds minor, unless you are at the receiving end.

We travelled to Stratford to see the musical Chicago and stayed at The Bruce Hotel. Everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. First it is a short 10 minute walk to the Festival Theatre, no hassles with finding a parking spot near the theatre, check that box. Then, the room, wow, we booked a mini suite hello, it was the size of a one bedroom apt. There was a walk out to a cute patio and a beautiful view of the gardens. Everything was tasteful and clean, the bathroom was just over the top. Free water and they have a cookie line to order cookies, what? Breakfast was included, not a buffet, the full menu of yummy selections, the vanilla scones are wonderful. Shout out to the staff, thank you. The Staff were the most pleasant, friendly ever. Not cheap but great value for your money.

My friend and I had Sunday brunch here before catching a Stratford Festival matinee. The Restaurant at The Bruce has always been my most favourite restaurant in Stratford and our brunch experience did not disappoint at all. The food was excellent with former Executive Chef of Langdon Hall, Jonathan Gushue, at the helm of the kitchen. I had the Duck and Foie Gras Terrine, the Zucchini Cavatelli and the Chocolate Sorbet (not your usual sorbet) while my friend had a green salad, the Arctic Char and the Lemon Verbena Posset for dessert. The service was outstanding with ultra-friendly servers who all demonstrated a passion for their jobs! The restaurant gave us a complimentary bottle of wine for not having been able to serve us lunch from an early summer reservation due to staff shortage problems in the kitchen and for being a loyal customer. The vintage 2019 DeLoach Chardonnay from Russian Valley, California, is one of the best chardonnays I’ve tasted. Dining at The Bruce is a ‘must’ if you’re in Stratford. The grounds are beautiful and the hotel has just added a couple of cottages for families. I missed the restaurant and the hotel during the past 2.5 years of the pandemic! Hopefully, by next summer, business will be back to normal again so that I could return and enjoy the service more frequently!

Wow! I just returned home (to mid-michigan) from a 4 night trip in Stratford, Ontario. After a fair amount of research, I booked a premium room with a walkout terrace at The Bruce. I had noted in my comments to the hotel that IF a suite became available to alert me. They actually read and remembered my request and called me offering to purchase an upgraded room. I am SO glad I took the offer! Our suite was very notably large - a nice sitting area, a massive bathroom with 2 vanities, party sized shower, deep free-standing tub++. Our 2nd floor suite came with a generous balcony overlooking the rear gardens. The hotel is simply lovely. Twice daily room service. Open self serve coffee bar. Unlimited water. Chilled and heated towels... Original art (ranging from a bronze sculpture, oils, vintage gowns, chandeliers from the 4 Seasons in Toronto+++ BUT the most impressive part of the stay was the STAFF! From Philip and Chantal who greeted us, to Annie, Rob, Luke, Paige and ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE, we were amazed at how kind, thoughtful and professional they ALL were. I've stayed at fine hotels throughout the world (The Peninsula in Chicago, L'hotel in Paris, Hotel Danieli in Venice, Eden Rock in St. Barths, Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton's galore...) The Bruce matched or exceeded any place I've ever stayed. Our U.S. dollar cost of $525 a night was a bargain (particularly given it also included a premium breakfast). GO THERE. STAY AT THE BRUCE! Tell them Mitch and Jim sent you!

We have never found an hotel we like better anywhere in the world that we like as much as this one. We've known Jennifer Birmingham as customers for years through her extraordinary b&b. She spent years designing this according to her vision. She spent another approx 5 years getting it approved. When you enter the lobby ti feels like a traditional luxury lobby. It's quiet. There are comfortable chairs everywhere to sit, sip a drink or talk. The ceilings everywhere are high. The colors are neutral but not bland. There are all kinds of things in various hallways and landing, you'd have to see for yourself. The rooms are very large. Who'd need a suite? The ceilings approx 10 - 12 ft. The bathroom is my dream. spacious and comfortable. The texture of the tiles on the floor are comfortable to my feet. The restaurant is EXCELLENT. I had a crispy perch that was wonderful. The breakfast omelette was first class, They make their own jams and honey. The patio you'd really like to eat on. Quiet and overlooking some fields. No traffic. I said to my wife isn't it wonderful to stay at a place we really like? I it's small, 25 rooms. The service is fast up close and personal. It looks large because of the large rooms. It looks old fashioned but it is entirely up to date.Free parking. When we go to Stratford Ontario this is the ONLY place we'd stay at. It's was within walking distance to the Festival Theater. To our minds better than the modern luxury hotels.

This hotel is just spectacular and outstanding. Staff were always kind and attentive. The breakfast (included) alone is worth the stay. Very convenient location. Rooms were comfortable and quiet. Nice pool with option of a resistance current...never seen that before! Met and exceeded our expectations.
