Description of the Garden Suite conjures images of a romantic and secluded cottage. In fact it is a converted garage with the atmosphere of a cluttered rec room / home office with a murphy bed. Advertised appliances available but have seen better days. Perhaps other rooms in house are better, but avoid the garden suite. Breakfast mediocre. Hosts, however, very hospitable.

Benson Bennett house is not a BnB. They have long term residence. It is filthy and unmaintained. There is garbage in the yard and most things are in disrepair. It has not been updated. It is also unsafe for fire code. The owner is Joanne Manol and she is a lovely person, but her children and the residents take advantage of her. Her daughter compels her elderly mother to take in guests during a pandemic. The threat is she will loose her home and have to go to a nursing home, which is a death sentence in Ontario.
There were no Covid19 precautions taken. When I complained the residents and staff/resident got nasty and Joanne refused to speak to me afterward.
It is unsafe to bring children there. Two of the residents are alcoholics, one of which is very volatile. There are junkies who show up to the back door.

A friend and I were recommended here from another B&B who didn't have rooms available. He obviously hasn't been to Benson Bennet House in years and shouldn't be recommending it AT ALL. When we arrived to check it out we saw cigarette butts littering the driveway and patio, garden beds FULL of weeds (some were two feet tall), an overflowing ashtray on a table near some wet mouldy patio furniture cushions and a dog barking incessantly at us. The house smelled horribly of smoke and the dog was never told to stop barking at us. The rooms look like they haven't been updated in YEARS and there was dust everywhere.

The bathroom was disgusting. They don't offer breakfast and quite frankly who would want to eat let alone stay in such filth. The "Garden Cottage / Studio Room" is a converted garage. It has seen better days and needs a thorough cleaning. There were maggot type worms on the floor of the bathroom...awful doesn't describe it.

All I can say is STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
