Detailed Reviews
We returned to this hotel because of the indoor/outdoor pool. On a hot summer day it’s great to sit outside and have the option to jump in the pool to cool off. 1 hour intervals have to be prebooked and the day we arrived all spots were full so we had to wait till the next day, even though when we looked at the pool it was empty. Rooms have been remodeled as well as the hallways. We had a room that faced the city and it was VERY noisy on Saturday night so I recommend getting a river view. Balconies are a nice thing except for the neighbors you have no control over, who blare loud music and smoke ( mj and cigarettes) Not the hotel’s fault but pay extra to get the riverview cause party people don’t usually want to pay the extra. We also booked a room for 4(and you pay extra) but the towels were for 2, had to go all the way to the front desk to get extra towels because housekeeping didn’t have any. Great location for walking. Restaurant was great too! Covid precautions were carefully followed and much appreciated. Staff are very friendly.

We arrived early, enquired about an early checkin and was told the room would be reasy in 40min. Returned more than an hour later and it took another 30min to find out the room wouldn't be ready till for another hour so 5 or 5'30pm. This after a long drive on a hot day and young kids waiting in a car while I was sorting it out. I raised the issue with the front desk and was comped $25 for the restaurant. I thought, ok lets make the best of it. There were many guests in the same position.
The river front restaurant with bar is amazing. Food was fast, cocktails refreshing and a live band too. Outdoor pool was great too, just be aware of limited availability as you need to book a spot. The room felt refurbished (river view room) and quite nice.
Unfortunately Peterborough seems to have an issue with unsavoury people, and some people were hassled for change in the parking lot. I would strongly advise a river view room as the city side is not great.
Breakfast was great on the patio and included in the room rate. Except again we had to que to get the meal voucher (just leave the vouchers with the restaurant!).
Bill initially was the incorrect rate and included hidden fees for parking and other taxes. Thankfully the helpful front desk helped to correct the rate and adjust the parking. I understand the need for other charges - but be upfront during booking.
I would like to visit again, the evening patio dining and drinks were amazing and the room rate was great value. However, the management team needs to step in to better support the front desk and the billing system needs sorting.

I stayed here with my husband. The rooms have been renovated, but still have balconies which is nice. We had a king room with a view of the water it was beautiful! The balcony needs to be cleaned and painted, but it is a joy to sit out drinking my coffee overlooking the pool gazebo bar and restaurant and the water. It’s an older hotel and could use some additional upgrades, but it is clean and comfortable with a Tim Hortons right across the street and boat tours right beside the hotel. I would stay here again, but it is not what you would call luxurious.

Hello jodyp173, Thank you very much for taking the time to share your thoughts and comments regarding your stay with us. There is no greater satisfaction, as a customer service professional, than receiving kind words from a valued guest like you. While we are pleased with your nice comments, you find the balcony in need of a little cleaning and additional upgrades would make the place more attractive. We welcome your suggestion and I am sure that our team will carry out the needed steps for further improvements. We are looking forward to your next visit to the area. Best, Ronald R. Hotel's Favorite
stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip and would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Good location near downtown Peterborough with access to loads or restaurants and bars. There is also a supermarket a short 2 min walk from the hotel.
The hotel has an on-site restaurant which is handy if you don’t want to go to far for food though there is a Tim Hortons straight across the road as an alternative.
The hotel was very clean with my room cleaned and towels replaced everyday. The staff are also helpful and friendly.

The Holiday Inn Peterborough Waterfront was a great spot for a night away. The room was tastefully decorated, clean, and had a lovely view of the river and Little Lake from the balcony. We enjoyed dinner at the restaurant as well. Staff were super friendly. The pool and hot tub were well maintained and we loved the indoor-outdoor feature of the pool! We were able to enjoy the waterfront trail just steps from the hotel. Highly recommended!

Stayed for a single night, arriving mid afternoon on a Friday.
Arrived in our room and it was hot; they were running the fan in the room but not the AC, even though it was pushing 30 degrees outside.
We started the air conditioner which appeared to be circa 1980 and it roared to life; literally roared, sounded like a diesel truck in our room. So loud that we had to turn it off to go to sleep, and woke up very warm.
The place has been remodeled which I believe means wallpaper, carpet and new furniture: the old hotel feel remains. Room was a good size, but bathroom was tiny with no exhaust fan. Wifi was almost unusable, and the television continuously would go black with "no signal" dancing across the screen.
We had a balcony which overlooked the river which was very nice, but again, peeling paint and it seeming dirty took away from the enjoyment.
Location is excellent; restaurants, grocery store, Tim Hortons, beer store and an LCBO a short walk away; very handy.
All in all, I would described the renovation as "lipstick on a pig"; they only went half way. Decent, fairly clean room with newer furnishings in a old, worn down building. When back in Peterborough, we will look elsewhere.

Great location but staff don’t care!
Parking signs telling you to get a windshield sticker or be towed then front staff saying don’t worry? Who wants to wake up to a towed vehicle!
Booked two days more than a month in advance, paid extra for a water view. Got a limited water view compared to other locations at this property. Walk ins before use got premium view rooms and were a one night stay. The balcony screen door off the tracks and sitting on the balcony., Could not use bathroom sink as it was plugged solid . Requested a plunger that was perforated and did not work too unclog. The restaurant was booked full in advance even thou we called ahead and were told no reservations booking. We have only been on site 2 hrs. Spoke with the operations manager who was going to book a seating, no call in 15 minutes.. We had too track him down after 45 minutes to be told a seat was availed right then and their and that was it. We decided a review was in order as it is dismal even after it is obvious people are not happy. An industry that is looking to get back on their feet cannot afford to not provide the service . Pay the money too staff and get qualified staff. The excuse people are travelling is not acceptable, you knew it was coming. Lower the rates for sub standard service

Our son's wedding began at 4:30, so we wanted to get into our room by 3:00 to get dressed. We were told check-in time is 4:00 and "too bad." If we wanted "extra" time we should have booked a room the night before. I said, "So you want me to spend an extra $200 for a night I don't need all to get an extra hour?" Response: "That's exactly what I'm saying."
I spoke with three different people, thinking there had to be a mistake, a solution. Not asking for the world, simply one hour "early" check-in. All three told me the same thing: I should have booked the night before. Period. They couldn't have been less concerned with helping a guest; totally focused on the hockey tourney guests.
Relatedly, two weeks before our trip, I got a call from management asking if "we really needed two beds" since they were trying to accommodate more hockey tourney players.
I will never, and I mean never, spend a dime at a Holiday Inn or that hotel chain brand.

Dear Guest, Please accept our sincere apologies for the way your request was handled by our Front Office Team. When a guest requests an early check in , we can accommodate the request whenever possible free of charge. In certain days and especially on weekends that is not normally possible but should have been explained to you in a different way. We also do not give priority to any sports teams over regular guests and again we are sorry if we gave you that impression. We do hope that the rest of your stay was enjoyable and thank you for staying with us Yannis Paravalos General Manager

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, and I will definitely not be returning. The room was incredibly dark, and I made the mistake of booking a pool view room. The pool was not outside like I expected. So I basically had almost no view of the outside. It was really terrible and I have stayed in many hotels. They are also not offering room service, which was surprising as all of the other hotels I have stayed at recently are offering this. No one asked me how my stay was throughout, and the front desk staff was not particularly pleasant. However, the servers at the restaurant were great, which is why I gave this hotel 2 stars.
The rooms are also very dated, with squeaky beds, a loud mini fridge, and hardly any light. Would not recommend staying here.

We ended up in a pool view room which was awful -- the noise from the pool echoed through the room, and the light from the pool shone in all around the curtains. We ended up having to line the curtains with towels to cut down on the light pouring into our room.
The hallways were also incredibly noisy with lots of people wandering back and forth around our room.
We got absolutely no sleep due to the noise and light in our room.
Nobody seemed to be enforcing the wearing of masks and people were wandering the halls without masks on.
There was no room service available.
The icing on the cake was that I left the hotel covered in bed bug bites.
A truly awful experience.

We were there Mar 3-4, 2022. No need to book time and the indoor outdoor options were available. It was nice and clean alsol. No charge.
Yes, however only our outdoor pool will be open up as of June 11th for hotel guests. We are allowing one hour timeslot reservations and can only have a maximum of six people in the area at one time.
The view of the river in the early morning is so peaceful and lends itself to a very contemplative moment. The riverview rooms are even numbered and yes, there are balconies where one can sit to enjoy the view. There's a keurig coffee maker and it does have a fridge. We liked that the room didn't have carpeting, instead, it had a hardwood or heavy laminate for floors.
