We have been to Elim for the 3rd summer now and i am truly greatfull for a place like this here in Canada. We are from Quebec so not many christian resorts for the family around here. We have 3 small children and when we travel any other place i end up exausted. At Elim we are just like at home the children feel safe and have fun filled activities going on during the day that they can join if they'd like. They usually go to the morning program every morning at 9am while my husband and I go to service in the chapel. Then we all meet up for lunch and spend the afternoon at the beach or pool or go for a boat ride that we could rent for a few dollars, we also do some fishing (they have a couple of fishing docks. My husband likes to take a nap in the afternoon that's when he recharges the batteries. Then we usually go for supper at the dinning room and end off the day roasting marshmellows and hotdogs yum!! I am really happy we have found this place. If you are looking for luxury not the place for you but if you are looking for peace, tranquility and phisical & spiritual renewing this is the place for you. It's a very humble and peacefull place to be. Hope you have a blessed time as we always do! The Ricci's

I have been coming to Elim Lodge with my family for more than 10 years. Things have certainly changed over the years...

The Good:
As always, Elim Lodge is not just a vacation, it's a place for spiritual retreat. The speakers during the summer conferences are certainly inspiring and the Saturday concerts/special events are definately a treat. The Valentine's Day get-a-way is highly recommended. What a rejuvenating experience for my husband and I! The Saturday night sit-down dinner was also something to write home about - I literally felt like I was at a wedding banquet!

The Not-So-Good:
As mentioned before, things have changed over this year. In particular, gasoline, worms, and canoe rentals (by the hour) are no longer offered at the marina which could be a hassle if you own a boat or just want to rent a canoe or kayak for an hour or two; now you have to rent for 1/2 day or full day.

The food at the dining room seems to have hit a slump. You're still paying a lot for dinner (for two people it came to around $40.00). You'd expect to be blown away with the money you pay, but it was less than par. Breakfast was just awful - over-cooked and dried up. The service, however, was fantastic as usual. Unfortunately, because there are no restaurants nearby, you are pretty much forced to eat at the dining hall or at the Snackery - if you want a cheaper option, eat there.

No house-cleaning service! If you're staying more than 2 nights, things could smell kinda raunchy with the garbage build-up and no clean-towels, turn-down services. You're paying around $109 - $130 / night for a motel room, so it would be nice to have some kind of house-cleaning service to go along with it. The beds are squeaky and not the most comfortable. The furniture is definately dated.

In conclusion, would I recommend Elim? I would... just keep in mind the above details during your trip!

We have been going to Elim with Family Friends now for 4 years and it is always an incredible time. It is a Christian Camp, so you can feel pretty comfortable with your kids playing on their own as there seems to be little rif-raf. It is just a great place to be so that you can focus on the important things like spending time as a Family. The lake is great as it is shallow which makes the temps there a bit warmer than other lakes. We did stay in the hotel this year and as it is a bit Rustic, it did suit our needs fine. It did have a bit of a moldy smell to it so we aired it out all day and it seemed to get better over the weekend. Would definitely recommend going to Elim.

Me and my boyfriend had a terrible time at this lodge. We rented a boat to go fishing. The boat that was offered to us was extremely dirty and had probably at least 20 spiders in it. We left early because the boat was so unsatisfied. When brought to the attention of the staff. Their explanation was "it's just nature." it's nor judy nature it's lack of cleanliness on their part. I will never go back to this lodge. Clearvirw resort However is exceptional with the cleanest rental boats.

Yes, it's Spartan; you have to make your own bed. Yes, the dishes and cutlery don't match. And yes, cooking on the little 2-burner hotplate is very slow. BUT, I'd stay there another year in a heartbeat. Why? Because if I'd wanted matchy-matchy, and fluff-n-stuff, I'd have paid the big bucks and gone to a lavish resort. As it was, I needed my body and soul refreshed. I needed to sit outside and listen to the songs of the birds and watch the clouds float along. I needed the fellowship of worship. And I wasn't disappointed. What more did I need? The beds were comfy; the bathroom clean; the A/C adequate. If your heart is dry, and you're needing refreshing, what are you waiting for?!

We were at Elim Lodge for a week at the end of July. We stayed in the motel and the room was very large, had A/C with a kitchenette including full size refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and lots of plates and utensils. The lodge is right on Pigeon Lake and there are 2 swimming pools, a store and the Snackery where you can get lots of fast foods and some grocery items. The meals at the Dining room were excellent and the hostess Starr made us feel right at home. There is a large chapel that seats about 500 and a smaller chapel (rustic chapel) where they have children's activities. There is chapel every morning at 9:30 and at 7:30 in the evening and we had 2 excellent speakers our week who talked about David and the Psalms. There are 3 other resorts close by and one Pigeon Lake Camp has a nice little grocery store and a library. It is about 10 minutes to Buckhorne where they have locks (part of the Trent Canal) and Peterborough is probably less than a half hour away. We met lots of wonderful people, had a great time and can hardly wait to go back again

A great place for adults and kids. I was there for AWARE in May. Cabins are mostly older but very clean. Why not step back thirty years where family and friends in a Christian environment is the theme. The beautiful stone chapel is now open for services. Boat ramp on site, pool, beach, lots of waterfront cabins (some renovated), canoes and the food is good old fashioned tasty comfort food. Hope they always have the salad bar its awesome! I totally recommend this place for anyone. The food is awesome. The service is excellent. The staff is soo friendly. The cabins are very clean. I would totally return. Stayed in the Bayview Apartments overlooking the water. Very relaxing and comfortable. My stay was with a group on a Marrieds Retreat. We will definitely return. Very accommodating to groups. Great for fishing and stuff like kayaking. Park for kids and areas for Vollyball, tennis and basketball. I'm a runner so the area was awesome for training - was 5k run around first stop sign and 10k run to main rd but very hilly in my opinion.

I was here for a retreat and really enjoyed myself. The food was super and the staff friendly and accommodation. A great family atmosphere.

I was in the motel. The bathroom was newly renovated, the bed comfortable and it was nice having a full fridge and microwave in my suite.

I'd definitely come here again.
