Kevan and his team are dedicated to providing a great visitor experience. Rooms are clean and nicely updated; breakfasts were delicious and over the top. The rooms have great amenities. There is a nice living room area that all guests can relax in and there is also a mini fridge that guests can use to store personal food items. Luggage storage on departure day was appreciated. While this property is walkable to downtown, an uber or taxi doesn't cost much. Highly recommend!

This is a lovely little gem in Ottawa! Convenient to everything but located on a residential street, it gives you the sense of a local's Ottawa, not just what a tourist or business traveler would see. It is run by a husband and wife, and WOW are they in the right business: friendly, caring, and excellent cooks! The room shown in my photos is on the third floor and was so cozy and pleasant. Breakfast was delicious both days. Parking is free, but it is about half a block away. We had an excellent stay and we highly recommend!

I echo much of what people are saying here. The place is very nice, clean, and comfortable. Yes it is an old house.. floors do squeak, but for me that's pretty minor. Kevan and his staff are very thorough and professional, and have thought of everything is seems. I recommend driving from the B&B over to the various attractions or businesses you are visiting... the walking along Rideau is ok, but take about 20 minutes to walk to the Byward, and it wasn't the most pleasant walk. We went again later, driving over and found parking pretty quickly... about 6 minutes down to that area, which was much nicer, and we had a great evening.

A great place to stay if you are after a homely, welcoming place to put your feet up and relax. Kevan is an excellent host supported by a great staff. Our room was cozy with a comfortable bed. The breakfast was scrumptious and good portions. As with B & B's breakfast time was a good time to meet fellow travellers. The Avalon is situated at the quieter end of the CBD, on the outskirts. It is within an easy walk to the city centre and nearby attractions. Public transport and taxis are nearby. A plus for the Avalon is parking is available offsite, but nearby. Overall, a most enjoyable stay.

I wish I could give a better review because the staff was great. It had amazing breakfasts, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The location was good if you walk or take the bus into the city. 5 minute walk to bus stop. They also have offsite parking available. The only problem here was the squeaky floors. I was in the Sable Room. The floor in there is noisy, mostly in one spot. Then there is a hallway next to this room that leads to another room, which have very squeaky floors. It was loud enough that it woke me up when someone walked down that hallway or used the common coffee/tea area which is outside this room's door.
