I suffer an injury in your hotel. I had a shower and when done I was opening the glass shower door and it suddenly shattered. It causes cuts to my feet and was bleeding quite a bit. I had my partner grab towel to wrap my feet up to slow the bleeding. I then call the front desk for help. When they arrived they had me sit on the bed while they bandaged me to slow bleeding. One of the staff called for an ambulance. When the ambulance arrived they removed the bandages and started to flush the glass and glass dust out of the cut. The recommend going to the hospital. They packed me up and took me to Ottawa Civic. Once at the hospital I was checked in and processed to wait in a wheel chair. I am not sure the exact time I was put in a room but I was given one. After waiting many more hrs. The doctor came in at about 12:30am. She proceeded to remove the bandages and started putting needles in my lower leg foot and big toe. The then wen t to work removing glass that was deep in side. This continued till they believed it was mostly gone. They put 3 stitches in my big toe and used 3 bottles of glue to hold everything else together. I was writing and verbal instructions how to keep clean and stay off the foot for 48-72 hrs. I arrived back to the hotel around 2:30 am. The next morning I met with a Juan Hernandez in my room. We talked about what happened in the shower. I then informed him that I needed to stay off my foot for 48-72. He told myself and friend that we are not to worry that we will be taken care of and can stay as long as needed. I said thank and he left. I ended up staying till Thursday and contacted mr Juan and informed him about leaving. Also asked him about compensation. He informed me that they will cover the two extra night I needed to stay. I was shocked that this is it. I told him i am not happy about that. I told him the whole weekend should be taken care of. He then said to me. Why would we do that you enjoyed the first part of your weekend. This truly upset me! I informed him that the day of the incident was my Birthday and that my weekend was a write off. His attitude was not his problem and insinuated that I intentionally broke the glass. Now my friend came in the bathroom immediately when he heard the crash. I was standing there naked and bleeding with the shower handle in my hand. I contacted my lawyer after the way I was treated. Mr Juan called my room and said the would pay for my room and parking for the weekend. I informed him that I am in contact with my lawyer and I am not excepting anything. He then said but sir we are doing what you asked. I informed him it’s too late. I love this hotel. It’s the only hotel I stay at when in Ottawai am truly disappointed and shocked how I was treated.

Stayed 4 nights in total. I had 2 separate reservations as I had to add a day on after booking the initial reservation after the fact (but it was booked before I arrived). I couldn't add it to the previous reservation as there were no rooms available under that block code (for a conference). Checked in and there was a card read error. Front Desk agent had me fill out paperwork to contact my credit card to issue payment and hold. That's fine. Tried my card in the store in the hotel after and it worked fine, so I don't know why I didn't work at the front. My room stay was around $1250. The credit card security hold was almost $700. Myself and my poor unsuspecting low credit limit credit card was unprepared for this. Who expects an almost $700 hold for 4 nights hotel stay? (outside of the room charges) In addition, these charges came in at different times and days and didn't seem to have a flow to it which was more confusing. When I asked the front desk about the newest charges, I was pretty much just told that it was a hold without much explanation. I expect a hold at any hotel I stay at, but I do feel nearly $700 is a bit extreme. I don't know if this related to the conference that was going on or not, but either way it is excessive. I have stayed at other Marriott hotels (Silver Elite member currently) and have never come across this. Rooms were nice, sitting chairs in the rooms (mine and a couple of my coworkers rooms) were stained up enough to notice before even sitting down (mostly liquid stains it looked like, perhaps tried to clean but the cleaning liquid left more stains? not sure). If you need to get up or down to your room in a hurry, best to take the stairs. . . I waited upwards to 15 minutes for an elevator with groups of people frequently. Overall, a nice stay and loved the convenience of being attached to the conference centre and mall without having to go outside. Next time though, I may stay at the Novotel across the street again to avoid any surprise extra charges as I have stayed there previously without that issue.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the hotel Valet Brandon. Being in the service business, I particularly enjoy good service. Brandon was super friendly and I had no trepidations in tossing the keys to my new Navigator to him. Enamoured by his super friendly demeanour, I complimented him and flipped him a good tip! About an hour later there is a knock at our door. Room service with mineral water and chocolates and a note. complimentary from Brandon! This guy is going places and provides excellent representation of your hotel! As usual your hotel was a great place to stay!

We have spent a number of Christmases at the Westin while visiting family in Ottawa. We choose a double overlooking Parliament Hill which quite beautifully lit at Christmas. Arrival was easy and warm, room immaculate, beds comfy, feather pillows, temperature control responsive, TV had Netflix access. Only complaint was the alarm was set at 6.am by previous guest which made it hard to get back to a sleep in morning. In the past the hotel would have a small but nice Christmas goodie bag, stocking etc but alas no more. Little effort to make the place Christmasy. The room rate used to be very low at Christmas but not any more.

We have been coming to Ottawa and staying at the Westin Hotel for our Anniversary for the past several years. The Westin Staff and Management have always treated us like royalty but this year has been "over the top" (so far). A complimentary fruit, cheese and wine tray was delivered to our room upon arrival and we have received other "perks" and upgrades. Staying at the Westin certainly enhanced our Anniversary holiday, once again. Thank you for making out special day even better than imagined.

I travel to Ottawa for business several times a month and the Westin is my go to place when in town. The main attraction for me is the location as well as the overall quality of the service that Westin has to offer. The Premium rooms are modern and the beds are super comfortable. I would like to highlight the OUTSTANDING front desk service that I have received from Luscian. In my travels around the world I have come across many lovely hotel staff but Luscian tops them all. He has checked me in a few times and I think the last time was about 2 months ago. I was surprised when he remembered me and my name wearing a mask and went above and beyond to provide an outstanding client experience offering me an upgrade and exactly the kind of room that meets my needs. In an industry where there are a lot of challenges and there are gaps in customer service it is lovely to have someone as professional and competent as Luscian. I generally don't write reviews but I felt it is important to highlight this young man's professionalism and express my deep gratitude as a loyal client.

I stayed at the Westin Ottawa for two nights, the reservation was arranged for the organization I volunteer for. I have stayed at this Westin previously. The hotel lobby has not changed in years, but still maintains a relatively modern and clean feel. My room was clean and still relatively fresh, but there were some signs of wear. The bed was comfortable, the pillows flat. The air conditioner was very loud at times. The elevator system is unique, with you being assigned to a specific elevator after you tap your room key to a sensor and type in your floor number. Upon my arrival on Saturday in the late afternoon, there were two weddings and a conference active, which led to a queue 12-15 people deep trying to get to their hotel rooms, and then a stop on every floor as people tried to go down! Overall, a reasonable hotel to stay at if having immediate access to Parliament, the Byward Market, and other central tourist destintations is desired.

I have stayed in the hotel from 28th Oct to 31st Oct. The stay was decent and I had an amazing view Parrliament View which was amazing. Also the hotel was connected to CF Rideau Centre which was too convenient to buy food. Also the staff was helpful and very friendly. Also room size was very good. What I did not like in my stay is the following: 1) The room was to old and as fat for Westin hotels this is my second worst room Westin hotel I have stayed. 2) AC and heater noise was too loud and I had to put ear plugs to sleep. 3) The billows were de end but not that comfortable. 4) There was no noise cancelation between the rooms and we could hear people taking in front of our door at 12 and 2AM. 5) Also we had a fire alarm at night and I couldn't wall down the stairs from the 17th floor. But I was grateful we got a discount on the hotel stay due to the incident.

So nice to have a hotel conveniently located to nearby points of interest. It's a busy area, though, so be careful when crossing streets! It's evident the hotel is aging but our accommodations were nice & one could see that updates to decor, shower, etc. were somewhat recent. The shower area was huge (perhaps they got rid of the bathtub & just extended the shower area???) Must use room key card to access the elevator to guest room floors. Appreciate the extra security! The staff was responsive when we asked for additional supplies. The breakfast area was very nice, with great views. But the buffet is quite pricey as are individual menu selections. Better to grab breakfast in one of the many options in the neighborhood. There is also a restaurant on-site, again, very pricey. With so many options nearby, why not experience the city? We found the area to be quite walkable & were able to take in quite a few sites in our brief visit. Our experience at the Westin was positive; we understand the minor inconveniences of escalator repairs, etc. are part of general maintenance and didn't let that influence this review.

I usually have great respect for the Westin brand, but my stay at the Westin Ottawa changed that. I stayed here for 9 nights in September while visiting family in Ottawa. I usually stay at the Novotel just around the corner, but thought I’d upgrade my stay to the Westin. Terrible idea. First, the positive (singular). The location can’t be beat, you’re 2 minutes away from Parliament Hill, 5 minutes away from ByWard Market, and directly connected to Rideau Centre (via level 3). That’s about it, though. The rooms are large, but look like they haven’t been upgraded since the 70s. In general, maintenance and upkeep at the hotel is awful. My bathroom had 2 of the 3 vanity lights blown, which I pointed out on Day 1. No action was taken. There were missing fittings that hadn’t been replaced, and the toiletries were pulled off the wall brackets and just lying there. Not what you expect at this price point. Another negative is the noise, forget about getting any sleep. The hotel is popular with the convention crowd, so expect noisy drunk conference attendees roaming the halls until all hours. My first night there someone pulled the fire alarm, and I awoke to blaring sirens and strobe lights at 2am. Luckily a false alarm, but still annoying. And then you have an elevator undergoing renovation, so expect drilling and hammering at 7am everyday. Absolutely ridiculous, management should ensure such work is started at a respectable hour. And the final nail in the coffin is the service, which is downright rude at times. I had an issue with the hotel blocking DOUBLE the value of my entire stay on my card, so went down to the front desk to check. Andrea agreed this was unusual, but wasn’t sure why and would have to check with a manager who wasn’t in “so early” (it was 9am). That was on Day 2, I never heard back. On my last day the hotel made another block on my card (now 3x the value of my stay), so I went to check again. This time Anastasiia denied it was the hotel making the charges, and suggested I check with the bank. Why would the bank make phantom Westin charges? Furthermore, they messed up my booking so that I didn’t get the full value of points for my stay, so have had to deal with Marriott customer service to get that rectified. Overall, avoid the Westin if you’re looking for something in downtown Ottawa. I would suggest the Novotel next door or Andaz down the street, you’ll get much better value for the same price.
