The good: friendly staff, clean, comfortable beds and pillows, location, fridge, microwave Not so good:keys didn't work and had to get recoded (first lasting impression), only 2 elevators so waits can be a bit, TV cut in and out as did my coworkers (that was strange as we were different floors, location on floor) and we said something day 1 and it wasn't fixed or still didn't work (had us humerously question if using an adjacent building subscription as it acted like there was a storm cutting in and out), luke warm shower water temperature with tap at max (last impression). So water and TV can be deal breakers for me after long work and travel. Plus at $212 a nite, other options to be had.

I chose this hotel due to its location. While not in the middle of everything, it is an easy walk to the main attractions. Pretty standard mid scale business hotel. Windows are small, and views are of other buildings.Street noise can be an issue. Parking is extra. No complimentary Breakfast.

Hello and thank you for your comments. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed the hotel and our good location. As for most hotels yes we do have views of other local buildings but we do have some rooms with great views of the river and Gatineau park. We do provide parking and it is an in door heating garage where there is a daily fee which is comparable to all building close to our location.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel as part of a group for a friend’s wedding. The great things about the hotel were: 1) The front desk staff were very friendly and allowed us early check in, which was great. 2) the hotel was recently renovated, with very tasteful decor and extremely comfortable beds and pillows. The room also had a massive TV. 3) location is perfect for touring around downtown Ottawa. Our issues with the hotel were as follows: 1) when we arrived in the room, the toilet was clogged and the filled very high when flushed only once. 2) only one elevator was working for our entire first day there, and the other one was incredibly slow for some reason, where we had to wait 10-15 minutes for an elevator. We decided to take the stairs most times. 3) the hotel advertises room service, but when we called to request room service breakfast, we were told that they weren’t doing any deliveries, and that if we wanted breakfast, we would have to go downstairs to the restaurant to pick it up. 4) we reserved our two nights under two separate reservations, as we originally only reserved one night, and the phone reservation person told us we would have to have our two nights under separate reservation numbers. Two separate front desk employees told us that we could remain in the same room for two nights and confirmed that they had fixed our reservation to reflect this. When we received an invoice under our door after the first night, my husband went to the front desk to make sure that we did in fact have the room for two nights. Evidently, the new front desk employees had no idea that we were staying for a second night, and finally gave us new keys to stay for the second night. It was frustrating to have to deal with this issue several times when we were told the first time it was fixed. 5) we were woken up at 6am with a false fire alarm after being at a wedding til 2am the night before. This is not the hotel’s fault, but it did leave a bad taste in our mouths after all of the other issues we had had. We hope that our stay was not that norm for this hotel and that they will get some of these kinks worked out as the hotel continues operation, as they have done a truly lovely job of their renovation and have tons of potential!

Hello AllisonM76, thank you for your comments. No this is not common issue at the hotel. We have worked out issues with our central office as to why they chose to book you two separate reservations. As for the plumbing issue I truly hope our maintenance team took care of that unfortunately we sometimes don't know there are issues until they occur. We were doing quarterly preventive maintenance on our elevators the day you were with us and the elevators were slow. I have spoke to the restaurant owner the day you called for room service I remember quite well and advised him this is a service we have agreed to and he cannot not offer the service ever. I would be concerned as well but all issues have been addressed and I am sure your next stay will be a positive one. Thanks again for your review.

Check in left much to be desired. We booked this a couple months in advance and the price was pretty good. When we got there there was no parking to check in. Or any direction as to where to go. We then stopped in the church parking lot access the street. We entered the lobby and there was a long line up with two representatives at the desk. One was telling a family over and over that there was no availability. The other was telling another family that they had to wait 5-10 minutes to wait for confirmation from housekeeping that the room was ready. It was 4:30 and check in is 3:00. Instead of waiting for confirmation while helping the people in line they just stood by their computer waiting. We got up to the front of the line about twenty minutes later. We got our keys and then was told parking is 25$ + Tax per day. This was a surprise as we didn’t see anything about an extra cost of parking when we were booking. We parked in the most awkward parking garage. I’m glad I have a small car. If we brought the truck we wouldn’t have been able to navigate the corners. Finally we got up to our room and the keys didn’t work. My boyfriend went back down stairs and had to wait another 20 minutes to have the keys changed. He was then told we needed my ID. So then I went downstairs and waited 10 minutes to have our keys updated. About and hour after we arrived at the hotel we were finally in our room. The room was nice. Some of the light bulbs didn’t work. And there was some garbage on the ground left over from the people before. It was only a clothing tag and a mint so we just picked it up and moved on with our life. The next day we went down to the front desk to ask about some suggestions of things to do in Ottawa. They just directed us to the info kiosk down the street. Overall we weren’t thrilled with the experience but it wasn’t terrible.

I am truly sorry for the long wait upon arrival this is not a common occurrence at check in but it did happen. We will be better prepared for these situations in the future. All of websites indicate there is a parking charge and are rates are very comparable to the local area. The cleanliness of your room we take pride in and obviously we let you down. I will pass your comments to our executive housekeeper and she will meet with her team.

Walked in and to a beautiful lobby. Very, very clean and welcoming. Only stayed the night, new carpets, new bathroom, new everything. Loved it! Only issue was parking, make sure you book the parking when you book your stay. Parking is 25.00 otherwise you have to park on the street or across the street in a parking lot that also charges a fee. Street parking is free on the weekends.
