I stayed at this location for just one night. The price for the hotel was great, we got a room off booking.com and it was a great price. The check-in process was fast and easy and the room was nice and clean. Everything was clean and new, and for the price we paid, we definitely got more than expected. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring Ottawa. Across the street is the Rideau centre, you are right near By Ward market and only a short walk to the parliament buildings. I would say roughly a 15-minute walk through the market. During my stay, I did not get to experience the hotel restaurant, or bar however they both looked very nice. The biggest downfall of this hotel I would say is its outward appearance. Pulling up to the location I was a little nervous as it's at the back of the mall and is not the prettiest area. However, the inside of the hotel does not reflect the outside. Overall I had a great stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone that needs a hotel in the downtown area of Ottawa.…
We are pleased with the Novotel, now after 2 years of rather less or no travel, we didn't recognize any negative influence. The hotel is not the newest but the lobby and rooms are all fine. Also nice bar and breakfast area. Fast and good check-in, the parking costs 28$, if you would park in the same parking lot you pay 20$ from 6am till 6pm and another 12$ from 6pm till 6am. So you save a little bit money when parking with the hotel. With hotel parking you have direct access from the parking lot P3 to the lobby and then to the rooms. We had a nice and special preparation for our honeymoon (not all hotels were so nice 👍, so a big plus). The rooms are not too big, it's ok for 2 people, bathroom is equiped with nice walk-in shower and German Grohe shower faucet kit. Also very happy about the environmental protection aspect of the shower gel/body soap, Shampoo and conditioner. All in big bottles which can be just refilled instead of providing small single bottles which produce much more waste. We didn't try the bar or in-house restaurant for dinner but it looks good and pricing seemed to be normal for Ottawa city and Canadian city prices. The breakfast offered a wide range of products, pastries, freshly prepared pancakes 🥞, eggs, omelette and also fresh meat for bread. Coffee is standard American black coffee, varieties of other food for breakfast, you can boil and adjust your own breakfast tea with fresh tea leaves. All in all a very good and great breakfast. We were satisfied with the whole service at the hotel. Great location in Ottawa, near to all important touristic and sightseeing sites, parliament etc. The swimming pool is shared with the Les Suites hotel nearby, it's quite crowded and ok, not so suitable for families, it's ok but if 3-4 families are in the pool it's crowded and full. But it is ok, just not a big pool.…
The room was nice with good view. My boyfriend and I, we tried the dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. It was delicious, especially the buffet breakfast. We did enjoy our stay here. Hope to have a chace and come back to stay in the Novotel Ottawa City Centre.
Ouf - where do I start? The hotel is pretty worse for wear - though it seems like that's the trend for Ottawa hotels so I won't hold it against them too much. That said - they claim a 4-star status so it blew my mind that they lacked in basic amenities (like a conditioner, an real ironing board, and sheets that don't feel like carboard. I don't quite know what's going on there but I was on the 7th floor and it seems like people run businesses out of that floor? Hotel room doors are wide open and people are coming and going a lot. It was a bit jarring and overall just felt like I was bunking in an office tower. My first night, kids were running around the hallways and playing til at least 11pm. On night three, I woke up at 5am with Christian music blaring from the walls. Finally, on the final night, kids would randomly bang on my door until past 12am. Staff seemed like they wanted to help but it certainly didn't solve the problem. Was it a case of bad luck? No idea. But overall, I wouldn't recommend.…
For $200 per night I expected some amenities in the room. There were no wine glasses or corkscrew. When I called housekeeping, they told me to go down to the bar. The bartender said he only had one corkscrew (broken) and would only loan it out if I brought it back right away. So a hotel with hundreds of rooms has only one broken corkscrew in the entire place??? Also, called down to the front desk both in the evening and the next day and there was never any answer. Their site claims to be "a trendy full-service 4-star hotel". I have stayed here in the past but with many other hotel options in the same area, I will not be back again.
I stayed a week. It looks unprepossessing, but hides a relaxed and comfortable hotel. My room was an excellent size, my bed as comfortable as I could ask and the bathroom smart and functional. The key to this hotel though is the staff. They were splendid. Courteous and helpful at reception, friendly and efficient housekeeping ( thank you for my lovely clean room and supply of towels) and breakfast, presided over by Julie was the way to start the day: courteous and attentive, they knew the table I liked, a newspaper and I learnt about eggs “over easy”. The morning staff were always a pleasure to see. This was an Englishman at home, and made comfortable. Don’t be put off. This hotel is spot on in the middle of Ottawa and knows how to look after a guest discreetly and unobtrusively. Thank you.…
The location is ideal for sightseeing, in the heart of the city centre. Walkable to Parliament, Byword Market and much more... We were in Ottawa for our son's wedding and arranged for a block of rooms for our guests. The sales managers (I worked with 3 over the pandemic) were all a pleasure to deal with and went out of their way to make us feel special. The front desk staff and all others we were in contact with were polite and helpful. It was an excellent experience!
I had an enjoyable stay at the Novotel ottawa. The hotel is perfectly located in downtown, at walking distance to the main attractions. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were clean and well maintained. I also enjoyed having diner at the hotel’s restaurant (the Albion rooms), you have to try the charcuterie and board and the desserts (bread pouring and crème brûlée), simply delicious. The breakfast buffet was also great and had a wide range of cold and hot options. In general, I had a very nice stay at the hotel, and would definitely be back in the future.
We stayed for 5 nights as part of a British Airways holiday package. The location is great - very central to most main tourist attractions. The room clean but surprised at lack of storage if staying more than 1 or 2 nights - no drawers at all. However additional hangers quickly provided so with these and living out of suitcase not a deal breaker. Extra coffee provided on request from reception. Fridge in room but no bottled water provided in room we were in There is a small pool and gymn - however no lockers or practical changing area. Fortunately we were on same floor as pool so able to nip from room to pool quickly when using. Did not eat in hotel - however great choice of restaurants nearby - and market around corner has fabulous French bakery for breakfast Our good stay was unfortunately spoilt at checkout. When we checked in we handed in our British Airways voucher for the room and I gave my debit card as a security deposit. On checkout I thought there were local taxes to pay, so offered my credit card. It was rejected so my husband used his. He immediately got an alert that his arm had been charged $1027 cd What followed was farcical - 3 staff members including the manager trying to resolve - took two long discussions and lots of charges and recharges to various cards. The irony was we had nothing to pay at all!! My husband credit card got immediate refund - so no loss. However my debit card, despite assurances the charge would not go through was charged £672.09 ( equivalent to $1027.10 cad Due to delay in processing and exchange rate fluctuation I only received a refund of £657 leaving me out of pocket £15 totally due to the error of the hotel. My emails requesting a refund so I am not out of pocket have been ignored. The checkout experience really put a dampener on what should have been a good experience My advice - do not hand over any card without knowing exactly what will be charged - and double check charges when you check out …
Don’t usually choose corporate chain hotels but Trailfinders booked it for us. Unfortunately despite us requesting a bath they’d booked us a standard room without one . However the hotel were very obliging and upgraded us to a room with one . The room was not big but had a ridiculously large bed and TV and was well planned . It was in pristine condition. The lighting and air conditioning were excellent. After the fuss about the bath turned out it didn’t fill properly from the tap so filled it from the shower!!! Nice towels, toiletries etc. The bar restaurant had a nice feel with good decor although the food was a bit disappointing. The downside of the hotel is the “lobby” which is cold and functional with tacky posters around -lets the hotel down.
