A charming modern full-service hotel set in the heart of downtown Ottawa, located just steps to the Byward Market and the Rideau Canal, a short walk to the Parliament and across the street from the Rideau Shopping Centre- the leading shopping destination in the city which holds one of the only Nordstrom stores in Canada. The Novotel Ottawa is perfectly situated across from the Shaw Centre (Ottawa Convention Centre) and the University of Ottawa is a 5-minute walk from the property. The trendy new Albion Rooms Restaurant at the Novotel has been recognized by the New York Daily News as “hypercool” and voted by UrbanSpoon as one of the top restaurants in the city. Buffet breakfast is composed of an extensive selection of regional and seasonal produce from the market. Our bartenders serve up craft Ontario beers; wines from small wineries and winemakers, classic cocktails and our house signature dishes deserve their own place at the table. From Canadian roots and Ottawa soil, Come experience true North hospitality with a hand-crafted story in our comfy yet glamorous interior or on the restaurant’s shaded patio. From breakfast to lunch to dinner and late night, Chef Stephen’s menus take a rustic yet contemporary approach to bites, snacks, meals and feasts for any occasion! Our hotel features 282 guestrooms, complimentary Wi-Fi, 24-hour fitness center, an elegant outside patio, a refreshing indoor swimming pool, and sauna where guests can enjoy a chic yet restful stay. Underground parking is available for $28+ tax per night with 24-hour in/out privileges for registered Novotel guests. Wife, youngest and I spent Saturday night here. Moroccan tea way too late kept me up all night, so I can't comment on the quality of sleep, but bed was comfortable, the room sparkling and well laid out. Love the little fridge. Enjoyed the pool and the whirlpool. Will get noisy at time with the kids and all, but kids are kids! Location is absolutely perfect, half way between Parliament Hill and the Byward Market, but far enough to be out of the hustle of late night partiers. The service was great as well, check in quick, check out just as easy. We will be back!!!

We recently stayed here for a long weekend getaway to visit Ottawa. Came by train and it was only a short $11 cab ride from the train station to the hotel. Now with the new LRT subway/train you can also travel from the station to the nearest stop - Rideau - which is underneath the Rideau Centre across from the hotel. You can walk from the hotel to Parliament Hill, the canal, Byward Market area, Sparks St and more. It really is an excellent location for the price. The room and bathroom were very clean and our room actually had a small window that opened which was nice. The room also had a small pull out couch and a small bar fridge that unfortunately never got too cold. There is no microwave in the room. On the 5th floor is a 24 hr. fitness centre and a pool. The restaurant in the lobby was always full of people in the evening so it must have good food, but we found lots of good places to eat in the nearby Byward Market. Overall, a very nice hotel with clean rooms in a great location.

Dear RIT17, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on TripAdvisor. We're so pleased to hear that you and your family enjoyed your weekend here in the capital. Location for me is also key when travelling, so I can understand when you say the hotel location was excellent as we are a stone's throw away from all the attractions. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to the hotel very soon... Regards Raman Virk Front Office Manager

Absolute positive surprise for the traditionally not so highly rated Novotel hotels: - warm and welcoming lobby - very friendly and supportive staff - good variety and quality of food and drinks at the hotel restaurant - excellent breakfast buffet with ample offer of breakfast delicacies - coffee quality is mediocre, but this seems to be a general North American problem - modern rooms with all amenities needed, very comfortable beds and blankets In summary this is a welcoming friendly house with appealing colors and furniture - arriving and feeling good is sort of happening naturally. Definitely recommended.

Novotel review 4:30 am I wake up with terrible back pain, they want to switch rooms when all I want is sleep. I wake up and remove the bed sheets only to discover a huge lump in the bed, and I have a full business day ahead of me. Not to mention the noise from the fans and A/C running outside. When I go downstairs the only male at the counter starts off on me that I had the option to change rooms, as if its my fault that I didn't want to trek from room to room in search of that golden nugget reasonably comfortable room, how about a "sorry sir, lets fix it sir" Then he refuses to show me any new rooms. Then the white female at front desk ignores me as if I where her dog. Clearly neither realize their station in life. Then we get in a heated debate and he tells me that my standards are to high because I don't travel that much, I reply that he has low standards and he charges towards me. On the first of three nights I check out, take your poor service and bed and jump in the lake, I stayed in $2 hostels in Egypt that had better accommodations and service. Then when I speak to the manager the next day he says well I see by the notes that you where agitated, DUH!!! with his judgey "I believe my staff over you tone" so I tell him bad service starts at the top and trickles down but I don't think he understood what I meant. Then he says well I have to look into it in order to give you are fund, AS IF!! NOVOTEL Ottawa is a liability to me having a fresh day, and whatever they say here as a response is lip service, see the photos of the python of a lump in my bed. What a nightmare experience I had. Blech!! Then I went to the holiday in Ottawa east and they bent over backwards for me, even upgraded me for free. Now that's service. I will never stay at another Novatel if my life depended on it, I actually considered sleeping on the floor from 5am to 7am to get some rest, wow!!!! Looking at the responses from the hotel they seem to always apologise, how about in person as opposed to online, if you look at the reviews almost 25% of the review have classed this hotel and their service at less than 3 stars, that’s 25% of the people that came forward, that’s a problem. BUYER BEWARE

Dear Poorsoul69, Thank you for initially choosing the Novotel for your booking and for taking the time to share your feedback with us. I am sincerely sorry that your experience has not lived up to your expectations. As you say, we apologize to all guests who don't enjoy their stay. All the team is very concerned about the wellbeing of our guest and we tried to help you as best we could by offering you to change rooms, to change the mattress, which you categorically vehemently refused. Our manager on Duty took the time to contact you that very morning, and we have granted your requests. We reach out personally to as many guests as possible however some would prefer an online reply as to the ones you see. We have some great reviews as our teams really try their best to provide solutions for any situation that arises. I am sorry we were not able to assist you during your stay with us. Please be rest assured my reply to you is not just lip service as I mentioned above, we appreciate all feedback so we are able to take the appropriate measures. Regards Vincent GALOCHE General Manager

As an Accor member I expected better. No concierge, no valet. Check in and reception staff were excellent, especially Ramon. As it was my wife's birthday they upgraded us. Room was very small. I would hate to be in a standard room if this was an upgrade Not 4 star but is in a good location.
