Stayed in October-2020. COVID restrictions were there and almost all of them amenities were closed which is understandable. Room as neat and clean upon check-in. Front desk staff was helpful. However, staff were not at all accommodating on things like extra tea bags to make tea in the room. And no accommodations of any sort for your in-room requests after 8.30pm. Expected a lot from fairmont but disappointed. Also, there was an awkward conversation with one of the hotel staff whose role was to take temperature checks. He asked me point blank - 'Are you staying here?' which was a bit rude. The advertised room with parliament view is a room with a foot of window which looks at parliament. Also, the view is not visible from the bed. You have to peek out of the window to enjoy the view. Wont recommend this for the extra money.

Just got back from a long weekend at the Fairmont. The hotel is absolutely beautiful! The architecture is amazing, lobby, rooms, and all public spaces are incredible. Very Old World charm but completely renovated. Stayed in a Gold level room which gave us access to breakfast every morning in the Gold Lounge as well as Happy Hour and desserts nightly. Well worth the extra price. The room was very large, comfortable and updated with everything you'd need. The staff at the Gold level were all amazing and could not have been more helpful, polite and friendly. As we were in town to skate the Rideau Canal the concierge at the Gold Level hooked us up with a company that delivered our ice skates directly to the hotel in 15 minutes. And we were able to keep them for the day for less than a 2hr rental in other places. I highly recommend the Fairmont and also the upgrade to the Gold Level.

We just returned from our weekend stay in Ottawa. The feel of the city was a bit different but the hotel didn’t disappoint. We booked last minute - on a day we arrived to Ottawa - and were very impressed with staff and all the precautions taken due to Covid restrictions. The hotel is beautiful, we were able to get our room on their Gold level with an amazing view of the Parliament. The room was spacious newly renovated and spotless. Unfortunately due to restrictions all restaurants were closed for dine in, opened for take out only. Also all amenities including swimming pool were closed. The location is excellent, close to everything. The self parking fee of $40 a day is a bit overpriced - would be reasonable for valet parking but all in all we had a great stay at this hotel and would definitely come back.

It was a bit different checking into this hotel in these unusual times with all the covid protocols, but once checked in we felt completely safe and comfortable. There was no doubt the staff was committed to ensuring our safety. We had booked a room with a view, and that certainly didn't disappoint with a great view of the parliament buildings, canal and river. Sometimes the rooms in these old railway hotels can be fairly cramped, but this wasn't the case here (to be fair, we paid more for a larger room). The room was really comfortable and clean (alas, no cleaning throughout our stay - one of the great delights of hotel stays). The bathroom was a good size and stocked with nice bath and shower products. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful in making reservations and suggestions. Three very big cheers to Nicole, our hospitality expert at La Terrace who took such excellent care of us. A great shame that such wonderful spaces as the lobby and indoor dining rooms were cleared or closed, but understandable in these odd times. The hotel's location is superb - easy walking distance to lots of restaurants, open spaces and galleries. A very nice, relaxing stay.

This was a bucket-list destination and disappointed somewhat during Covid. On arrival by car, we were told to drive around back and park and then had to carry our luggage back to the front. It should have been unloaded for us (seniors). Room somewhat small and a long walk from the elevators, but clean and comfortable. Restaurants are good, but could have been open for longer hours. All in all, could have been better, even during Covid. Staying four nights for the price of two was a bargain though.
