We visited Niagara wine country to celebrate our anniversary which we wanted to be memorable and free of the stresses of life back in London. When we arrived at the schoolmaster's House, we were immediately pleased with our decision to go the B&B route as our experience started with a warm greeting from Elsie Mae as we returned from a... Elsie Mae was an awesome host, helping me plan an anniversary weekend with my family, for my brother and his wife's anniversary! We all LOVED it. The rooms were lovely, breakfast was perfect and the gardens were a perfect escape for the 6 if us each evening, to relax and chat.

Elsie Mae is a gracious hostess, she welcomed us into her B and B and immediately we were made to feel at home and what a home it is!!!! The old schoolmaster's house is a gem, tastefully decorated with period furniture, yet all of the modern conveniences, wifi, shower, tv, and air conditioning! No expense was spared to make this... Elsie-Mae is a wonderful hostess. We stayed in the upstairs Gardenview room - true to its name! The house is lovely, and the gardens are absolutely beautiful. Our room was clean and the bed and pillows super comfortable. The breakfast that Elsie-Mae prepared was divine. Extremely filling, flavourful and absolutely divine. The other guests share the table with you as... More

We stayed two nights with my two daughters. I love any old house and this didn't disappoint. Features such as original door hardware, wooden floors, claw foot tub, things you will never get In a cookie cutter hotel. We stayed in the Porter Suite which has two separate bedrooms and a small common living area. This is great for giving... More

We stayed here for two days in June and had the best stay. Elsie Mae and Jason were wonderful hosts and Elsie Mae's breakfasts are some of the best we've had. We will definitely stay again as the location and room were wonderful

Now that we are home, wanted to share our wonderful visit earlier this week at Schoolmaster's House. Accommodations and meals (2 night stay) were superb, exceeded only by the hospitality of our gracious hosts Elsie Mae and Jason. Would recommend to any who wants to truly experience NOTL. Looking forward to our return visit.

Within walking distance of the downtown area of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Schoolmaster's House has a nicely decorated first floor where the dining area and sitting rooms are located for guests. We parked our car in a small parking area right next to the inn. A large fenced back yard features small sitting areas and a table and chairs for outdoor dinner seating,... More

Since your visit last August (2015), a lot has changed at the Schoolmaster's House, including new owners. We are pleased to be partnering with NEOB (Niagara Essential Oils and Blends) and have stocked the rooms with luxury, locally made bath products. Additional lighting and ceiling fan have been installed. The house is fully air conditioned and each room has windows... More

My husband arranged our trip to Niagra-on-the-Lake and we are so glad he found the Schoolmaster's House B&B. He chose the Garden Room with its private bath and entrance into a beautiful inviting garden with flowers, private spots to rest and enjoy the garden and some wine and an inviting fish pond. The grounds are neatly groomed and the home... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to The Schoolmaster's House, circa 1818. As former tutoring home for Empire Loyalist families in the 1880's, we are ideally situated at the heart of Niagara on the Lake Wine country. Just a short stroll from the theaters, shops and fine dining of Canada's prettiest Town. Our B&B has been exquisitely and faithfully restored, one of the early nineteenth century Niagara on the Lake Bed and Breakfasts. This is the ideal home away from home from which to begin and to finish your day. Enchanting bed accommodations ensure you'll wake well rested and feeling refreshed prior to venturing forth to walk, hike, bike or drive our scenic parkways, vineyards, tree-lined boulevards and lake front parks. Jason and Elsie Mae are the new proud owners of this heritage Ontario home. They invite you to explore their Niagara on the Lake B&B and to spend time with them during the theater season. This Historic Niagara on the Lake bed and breakfast contributes to the wonderful character and unique flavour in the Old Town. ... more   less
