We’ve visited this property several times over the years, and the adjacent properties. This time we opted for the Prince of Wales for proximity to downtown, but also because the Pillar and the Post was booked. We booked a King Suite for Friday and Saturday night of the Prince. Check in was quick, but we got to our room off of the main lobby and we’re quickly put off by the red decor and musty smell. We approached the front desk to see about a switch. They were able to accommodate and place us in room 179, a smaller room but well appointed and fresh, and with quick access to Queen street and views to Simcoe Park. The front desk staff were amazing—special shout out to Christina—as was every staff member we encountered, including the man who delivered our room service breakfast both mornings. The room service was excellent—hot and fresh! We also ate at the restaurants at Prince of Wales and Queen’s Landing and the service and food quality was top notch. We also booked spa treatments at the Pillar and the Post Fountain spa thinking we could also use the hot springs. Upon booking, no one told us that since we were not technically* guests of the pillar, that we would not be able to access the hot springs. Although there were apts available to use them, we were denied because “covid”. The staff was apologetic, but this policy is illogical and creates a bit of a two-tier system for spa goers. The fountain spa or reservations should be clearer about this upon booking. We could have had our treatments at the prince of Wales spa, and it would have been nice had the person taking our spa booking made this clearer to us since it is different than pre-Covid. All and all, a wonderful stay with great service! It’s good to see the downtown bustling with shoppers and tourists and the sounds and smells of beautiful NOTL alive.…
My wife and I visited the Prince of Wales recently (anniversary celebration) and were truly impressed. The staff were outstanding, from registration to dining room to in-room services. This is a wonderful example of old world elegance, with modern commitment to customer service. We dined on site several times, and enjoyed top quality fare, beautifully presented, with top notch service. Staff were consistently professional, responsive, and attentive to every detail.
The staff at this hotel are wonderful. Location is perfect. It is very charming. We were not very happy with our room in the main building. It was very dark and it definitely could have used some TLC. We had to request coffee pods for our coffee machine. That took about 1/2 hour. The second morning we requested coffee but we never got it. The AC unit was very loud. The room just seemed kind of shabby. All in all, it’s always a pleasure visiting this beautiful town.
Keeping this review concise, everything about this hotel has been amazing. The architecture and decor of the hotel is artwork! Our room is beautiful and spotless. Restaurant is wonderful for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar is super cozy. The staff in its entirety will go to he ends of the earth to make you happy and keep you smiling. Their attention to Covid measures is outstanding IMO. Easy decision. Come here!
Me and my husband celebrated a mini honeymoon here. The staff were great, super friendly. The room was gorgeous and the food was delicious. We also booked a couples massage at the spa which was great even during covid. When we booked we had mentioned it was our honeymoon and when we entered the room there was sparkling wine on ice and it was such a lovely surprise. Would go back for sure, great place for a special occasion. Lovely lovely time!
