It was a very nice hostel you can find people from different places around the world here. You can use its restaurants or tv room to watch tv. It's located in a good place near the downtown and waterfront. You will have an enjoying night there just be careful about selecting a good bed without noises in the night;)

We had an overnight stay and we were very impressed by the helpfulness of the friendly guy on reception and the simple but useful welcome sheet we were given. The hostel is very clean, interesting architecturally, convenient for the station, Farmers' Market and Pier 21. We will be back in Halifax for a longer stay and will definitely be staying... More

I stayed here for a week.. Staff was excellent, and the facilities were clean. Large kitchen area was well used and well kept. My single room was modest but clean and comfortable. The living room areas were cozy and well stocked with DVDs, board games, etc. I had some heating issues in my room but they were dealt with promptly.... More

Stunning hostel in downtown Halifax! Close to all the major attractions. Clean and comfy dorm. Kitchen feels super homely and extremely attentive, knowledgeable staff. The only disadvantage is the distance from the 320 bus stop, from the airport. Maritime bus terminal is just round the corner!

Great location, very close to the harbor too. Place is nice and tidy. The bed we had were comfortable. The kitchen is open till midnight. They have a laundromat, Parking is a bit tricky but from 6pm till 8 am it's free. Will definitely come back here if I am in Halifax.

I was in a co-ed dorm with 7 others. I met some really lovely people during my 4 nights in Halifax. The kitchen and dining room are large and there are also some smaller lounge areas. Coin laundry is on site and there are restaurants, cafes and a supermarket all near by. Linens and a towel were provided. The staff... More

If you want a place to feel like home, this is the place! It is located in a historic site in Halifax and it's so cozy! There are 3 floors with both mixed and female only rooms. They have many event options and sight seeing trips. If you become a HI member, you save money on food, car rentals and... More

I stayed four nights in a basement eight bed girl's dorm. It was very warm so the windows were always open. Unfortunately that allows for a lot of street noise. Cars on Barrington, even groups just standing outside having conversations are pretty loud. Paper thin mattress and pillow made sleeping difficult. Often smelled damp too. I did not sleep well... I stayed only one night and had the worst ever! The room was extremely hot without any fans. It also had (I guess the carpet) a strong stinky smell. Beside that the bedding was so old that it was almost transparent. And the bed (not sure that should be called a bed) was so thin I could feel the slats.... More

HI-Halifax is located very conveniently in the eastern downtown area, walkable distance from almost everything you could possibly want to visit including the waterfront, the Citadel and scores of bars & restaurants. The dorms are spacious, warm & clean, with ample bathrooms and a nice common room. The overall feel of the hostel is a little dated in comparison to... More
