Staff are absolutely terrible. If you can even find them. Housecleaning comes once a week, you are on your own to get towels if you run out. Room was very dirty, dust everywhere. My biggest complaint is the noise though. The doors have about a 2 inch gap underneath that lets in noise from the hallway, they are also very thin. I was staying here for work and couldn't sleep at all. My neighbours weren't excessively loud but you could hear every word in the tv show they were watching. The internet is capped at an unknown amount, if you exceed it you will be banned without warning and will be charged to get back on. If you have a door with an outdoor window you will forever be hearing diesel trucks start up at 5am to warm up right outside your door. Ive spent a lot of time in the North and this place was by far the worst. Certain compromises can be made staying up North but this was unacceptable.

Poor service all the way around! go elsewhere! The office closed at 6pm everyday so if something goes wrong you are on your own. I would recommend spending a few extra bucks for any other hotel. On the upside, there was free wi-fi and location is alright walking distance to downtown and old town.

Terrible experience...Showed up and was told there were no rooms available and we had booked online and had an email from the woman of confirmation 3 months before arrival. She said you can have a smoking room. I said no way. She said then I have nothing for you. I said can I see the room and she handed me her key and made me find it by myself to look at. Disgusting...and stains, curtain rod hanging out of drywall, etc. We had all of our luggage in the middle of winter so we were kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place and she knew it. so I agreed to the room but said I wanted a discount she said $134.00. On expedia it had said that it was about $70. So I was trying to find it on my phone but needed wifi. She refused to give me the wifi password until she charged my card for the room with $134.00! Once in room we left and did not come back until we had to to sleep, in our clothes on top of the covers. I wrote a review to expedia and they must have contacted her. She gave me $20.00 back....We are not hard people to please...I've stayed in hostels all over South America...good and bad..this place was terrrible. Perhaps it was just a bad week for them. I'm sure maybe they have some good rooms to...but ours was not one of them. I gave this a rating of 2 and not 1 because they put a bowl of muffins and fruit in our room and gave us 20.00 back. It was also in a very convenient location for walking around and going to the new brewery in town. So...if you want to chance it, just be prepared.

Was just here for an overnight. The front desk hours are limited (a minor quibble), but I was able to pick up my key from the manager at her suite in the motel. She had my receipt all ready for check-out as I was due to leave early the next morning. Yes the rooms are dated as far as decor, but my room was warm and cozy. Internet, sat TV and bathroom facilities all worked well. There was even a continental breakfast waiting for me packed in a paper bag (yogurt, fruit, muffin). a nice touch. Room was quiet a got a good sleep. No complaints. Prefer the Arnica Inn to Yellowknife Inn, Northern Lites, and Discovery Inn. Would stay here again. Yes the Days Inn and Explorer are nicer but far pricier.

We stayed at the Arnica Inn for a week this summer. They say you get what you pay for, but not too sure about that. The price was very reasonable for Yellowknife. We picked The Arnica as you can walk to both downtown and Old Town. We got a Kitchenette with a three burner stove. None of the burners worked, but we were given an electric plug in 2 burner stove. We had 2 double beds and they were very comfortable. The pillows were a nice medium soft. There was a coffee maker and a toaster, 1 frying pan, 1 saucepan, No lids or colander, 2 of each utensil, plates and glass wear, so if you have three people and are planning to do a lot of cooking.....bring extra stuff. Bring ice cube trays as well, as there was no ice machine. A free continental breakfast was advertised, but the restaurant was never open when we were there. The lady at the front desk was very nice. You have to check in before 8 or 9, as the desk is not manned at night. They only came in twice to clean, and did not do a very good job of it. They never Vacuumed our room. If you are not to picky, and want a great location, it's an ok place. Outside entrances are a bonus, and they have smoking rooms. No Bedbugs to be found.
