So I feel the need to write this review. DO NOT BOOK THE APARTMENT SUITES AT THE NOVA!! There is no AC and it was a sauna in there...even with 2 fans. It was also very dirty! I had to clean/Lysol wipe everything! There was a half eaten burger and pack of smokes in our recycle bin. Dirt on kitchen floor. Smushed bug guts on the wall. Dirt on the walls. Stains on the pull out couch sheet! A hat under the couch! Honestly dirtiest place I’ve ever stayed and I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels/motels! I’ll give the manger credit for agreeing I could switch rooms and for personally checking and making the pull out sofa and wiping down the surfaces in the room we were suppose to move into. The problem then was there was not enough blinds in the holes and it was the sun setting side in Yellowknife so again sauna and upon further inspection still dirty. Which I didn’t notice until the manager was gone and at that point I was just tired. So very tired...Because when we first checked in it was the luxury suite and that place was amazing...super clean and very nice. Problem was IT WAS ON THE ISOLATION FLOOR! We weren’t isolating and staff failed to mention their only luxury suite was on the isolation floor. So I asked to be moved and the only available room was the apartment suite. Horrible experience at the Nova I’ll never stay there again or at any of their other locations. The manager was great and tried to help. They also refunded the rest of my 5 nights stay because I changed hotels. But honesty they definitely need to clean their apartment suites. They were just built in 2018 and poorly built and absolutely disgusting!!!…
My family and I checked in for what was supposed to a relaxing get away from our small community during Covid. Upon arrival we were shocked, we had not been told that people were self-isolating at this hotel, we picked it because it was not a self-isolation location. Very concerning as we have a newborn and the people that were supposed to be isolating were given free reign of the hotel to get meals at the restaurant and congregate in the front lobby. Our toilet would not function properly on two out of three days and our sink also had an issue with not enough water coming out. These issues were fixed promptly, but should have not been issues. After we woke up on our second day, we began to notice signs that the room was not thoroughly cleaned before our arrival; there was a used coffee pod in the coffee maker, bottle caps under furniture, hair and dirt on the bathroom floor, missing cutlery and coffee items, etc. The front desk did send cleaning staff as soon as they were made aware but the damage of knowing that the room was not cleaned had already been done. The phone in our room would also not allow outgoing or incoming calls, despite having a dial tone. This caused us to be charged for room service when the kitchen tried calling us to say our food was ready for pick up. Speaking of the kitchen, the hours were very odd (9-12 breakfast, 11-12 lunch and 6PM-9PM supper). The food was just okay, not worth the prices and they seemed to be constantly out of the basics (decaf tea, decaf coffee, jam, etc). The room did not have blackout blinds, or any second window coverings at all! A hotel in the North, where the sun shines 20 hours a day did not have anything except one set of flimsy curtains to help guests sleep. And as I mentioned we have a newborn, which is challenging enough. I have stayed in much lower quality hotels that were better equipped than the Chateau Nova, I’m very disappointed. The Chateau Nova has always been my preferred hotel when staying in Yellowknife but I will take my business elsewhere. The reason I am not giving 1 star is because of the lady at the front desk, she’s wonderful.…
The location is good, quite near to the city town, just few minutes and they have shuttle connecting to airport for free. The room is quite spacious and cosy. My window is facing to the road and the view is good. But sometimes, the housekeeper may not remember to clean the room and change tower, better call the reception. The restaurant downstairs is good, no matter the food quality and price.
Clean and neat hotel for a comfortable stay. You can obtain a lot of info about the area and tours to see Northern Aurora Borealis from the front desk. It locates in the center of everything, so you can go these places easily.
Stayed for 3 days. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Close to downtown and across from beautiful grounds. Wifi worked very well throughout the hotel. Check-in was quick and without issue. Staff were friendly and helpful when needed. Would stay again!
