Liked · the location is great and the pillows and robes are amazing and the rooms are quiet. The lounge staff are fantastic. Disliked · it may be the worst fairmont in existence. I’ve stayed at this one years ago and others in different cities. so this was very out of the normal. the Staff at the desk were not personable. the room was not clean. there were papers in the desk from previous people. the door handle to the closet came off in my hand. there was dust on the night stand. the shower didn’t look like it was properly cleaned in years. the windows were very dirty with something splattered. There was spilled sugar in the drawer where the coffee and tea go. there was black dirt at the top of the toilet tank on the wall. the beds squeaked and felt like they would fall apart. the mattress was not comfortable it felt like it was from 40 years ago with springs that creaked. the reading lights on the headboard both fell off when we turned them on. the beds were not made well. oh and the wall panel underneath the air conditioner vent fell off the wall.…
Upon arrival, checked the room thoroughly for bugs, found them on the bed. Called staff and they moved us, then denied we had bugs in the first room, even with photo proof. Was promised a couple things for our trouble but received none of it. The bed in the second room is worn out and it felt like we were sleeping in a V form, quite a big dip. The valet, although very kind, parked so close to another car we were afraid it was damaged. We visited the lounge however before bed, and the server Willem was fantastic. Attentive and kind and checked on us frequently. This was a mini-honeymoon stay for us as we aren't going for actual honeymoon for quite a while. We did get a complimentary piece of red velvet cake with the word Congrats, spelled on the plate, and it was delicious. I've stayed at this hotel before, and this stay did not meet expectations. The view from the higher floor was beautiful though. Probably won't stay here again though.…
Fantastic value for a hotel of this calibre. Great service from all we came in contact with. Special mention of Nem on the bell desk who greeted us by name after our first encounter and who gave us good suggestions on where to go and what to see in Winnipeg. Also deserving of mention is Maria from the lounge bar who gave great service when we ordered a meal to go, bringing up our drinks and ensuring our food was delivered with appropriate plates, cutlery etc. Great friendly and professional service from both parties.
This used to be a fine hotel. The front door staff is still superb but the hotel is tired and the area around the hotel has deteriorated to the extent it isn't safe to walk around. There was no coffee service available before 7:00 and the concourse was closed with most of the shops under the hotel no longer operating. Our friends chose to stay up the street at the Inn at the Forks. We went there and regretted our choice of the Fairmont. If you go to Winnipeg avoid the Fairmont- it simply is not a good choice anymore.
It was a beautiful facility and rooms. I was disappointed in that they only clean the rooms every 3 days, which was the length of our stay. It seemed like a lot of money for not getting fresh towels or cleaning services. We also had to request towels as there were none in our room, again, not impressed for the amount of money we paid, even with a conference discount. The staff were friendly, front reception, valets etc were very kind and helpful. The parking if you did not need a valet, was a bit difficult as they were doing construction and it seemed all the spots were reserved except for hotel guests. You had to go almost to the very top to find a spot.
Dated hotel - rooms are very tired and need an update. Poor reception staff - doorman actively moved away so he wouldn’t need to open the door for me on my arrival!! Maid cleaning only every 3 days so only got cleaned once during a 5 night stay. Only positive experience was the dining room staff who were excellent as was the breakfast chef.
All good, except surprised to find that the usual daily water bottle normally supplied by hotels was not included in room; needed to order it at the check-in desk every day. But this only a minor inconvenience.
I had 2 different reservations for a total of 3 nights. Called hotel a few weeks prior to "connect" the reservations in order to avoid having to check out after first night. Was told everything was good to go, but when I got to check-in (which was at 11pm due to my flight), was told by the front desk guy that it's not in the hotel's control because my stay was booked thru Expedia and I needed to talk to Expedia. He told me I'd have to check out after first night and check in to my 2nd reservation. It was late and I was tired from my flight so I didn't argue. Came down next morning to do what he said and the ladies at the front desk assured me I didn't need to worry so that was great. Other than that, room was great - roomy, bed was comfortable, bathroom was very nice. I had a city view so it was loud when trying to sleep due to the traffic but otherwise, enjoyed my room.…
We have stayed at the Fairmont Winnipeg a couple of times this year and each time, they have gone out of their way to ensure we had a great time! For our son's 6th bday in January 2022, we had to cancel (another) bday party due to covid and we decided on a hotel staycation instead. Deanna, the front office manager, helped us with our reservation and even decorated the room with spiderman swag for the bday boy. We enjoyed great views from the 18th floor of Portage and Main, swimming in the salt water pool, and an after dinner sundae bar delivered to the room! It was such a great family staycation, that we returned with another family for spring break! Thank you Fairmont, and Deanna, for helping us make great family memories.
The room was clean but in our 4 night stay the room was not attended to until the last day. Prices are high and you don't even get a fridge in your room. No breakfast included. You have to pay $15/day to have internet! You have to pay extra for parking! I thought they might charge me if I sneezed. Parking is in an unprotected parkade were a fellow guest had their window smashed out and items stolen. Other than the good location and decent room we felt prices were too high and that we were being gouged.
