Rooms are amazing, property is beautiful. Pools and steam etc facilities are excellent. Staff are awesome. Unable to book spa services, EXTREMELY disappointing — that’s the whole idea of a spa resort. Apparently booking 2 months in advance. They need to come up with a solution to this. No daily maid service. Not a problem for a couple nights but odd for a 4 diamond hotel.
We have been a few times to the resort over the years and have never had a bad experience! The hotel is always clean and inviting and the front staff are always welcoming! The room was 3rd floor Mountain View and was awesome! We had dinner with my wife’s work while up there so that was great too! The pool, hot tub and amenities were all top shelf! I also used the private jacuzzi tub for a solo beer in a tub experience while my wife relaxed watching tv on the king size bed!! Views, service and food were great as usual!!
There is more to 5 stars then fancy crystals and good views. We tried to stay here last summer and after booking spa treatments 8 weeks in advance we were left with minimal options. Ultimately we cancelled cause of the wildfires in Vernon. So we made sure we booked 8 months in advance this time! Booked our flights arranged childcare had our spa treatments all booked. Boy we were excited for our stay here. I had tried multiple times to call this resort and in particular the spa many times leaving voicemail with never - not once a return phone call! 2 days before arrival I tried to contact the spa to see about changing a treatment… left a vm never heard back. So upon checking in I walk to the spa to speak with someone in person. “Oh the girl says, I checked that voicemail (2days ago) I have it in my notes”…..uh ok. So I ask to confirm something for my husband’s treatment which triggered the realization that he was booked in with a therapist that didn’t even work here anymore. Don’t worry they say we will sort this out. 2 hours later a phone call cancelling not just my husbands massage but mine as well. Apparently someone is also sick they say. Ok, unfortunate but we still have other treatments. 2 hours later again….”unfortunately we will have to cancel the crystal cranium treatment you booked for tomorrow as well. Then looking forward to our treatment the next day I get a call 2 hour before that my pedicure has to be cancelled due to a sick esthetician. I’m sorry but after planning this trip for a year to a “5 star resort” this is seriously disappointing when this is the purpose of your trip. I know that staff sickness is out of your control but one would think you should have a backup plan for moments such as these. When 1/2 your spa appointments end up being cancelled. The lack of customer service at this spa/resort is absolutely appalling and in no way should they be allowed to call themselves a 5 star resort. However our servers and therapists were great, management should take a serious look at how they can improve the communication/customer experience as this is not the first review i have read that has mentioned this.…
It was our first time to Sparkling Hills Resort and I am beyond impressed. We called about 2 months in advance to schedule the couples package and booked a Superior Lake view room. Our package included spa credit so we promptly followed up with the spa for appointments. While the spa was hard to get ahold of, persistence paid off and we were able to schedule a couples massage and a body wrap. Before our arrival, we called to ask for early check-in which was not a problem, we were told we would be contacted when it was ready. The room was ready around 2pm and we checked in shortly thereafter. The resort is gorgoeus, the gems sparkle and shine giving the resort and ethereal quality. Check-in was a total breeze, although I wish the layout of the resort was explained better at this time. Our room was beautiful, the view is incredible, the heated floors, soaker tub, and beautiful shower were stunning and very romantic. Some finishings are showing signs of ware but overall, the room was in good condition. The saunas, pools, and rest areas were all so welcoming and such cool experiences. I loved the rose steam room, the panoramic sauna, the experience showers. The infitinity pool is beautiful and warm, and the hot tub is a great way to relax. Water, bottled and otherwise, is free and plentiful throughout the resort so there is never a shortage. The relaxation areas have stunning views and put you into zen mode. The Peakfine restaurant was great for breakfast, included in our stay, and dinner was excellent. The menus are limited but tasty and we enjoyed trying different meals for the two days we were there. The 3-course dinner is so filling and we left happy. Jennifer, our server, was wonderful! I highly recommend the risotto, the lamb, and the steak. The chocolate mousse is also a wonderful way to end the meal. The spa services were wonderful. There was a lovely British spa receptionist who was so helpful throughout our stay and the spa services were superb. The milk and honey body wrap with Morgan was decadent and left my skin feeling soft and renewed. The couples massage was one of the best we have had and had little touches that made the experience stand out. Overall, our experience was romantic and relaxing, and we would happily venture back to stay again. The grounds are beautiful, the view is incredible, and the staff are warm and welcoming. My only critique is both the hotel and the spa were hard to get ahold of. I appreciate covid has resulted in less staff and more people wanting to travel but is was a tad frustrating leading up to our trip. I will say that each staff member we spoke to was informative and helpful. Thank you for bringing this wonderful wellness resort to Canada. I highly recommend experience the Sparkling Hills Resort!…
As always my experience here was great 10/10! This whole resort give me such positive vibes I automatically go into a great mood and I feel fresh and energetic even after the 5 hour drive from Vancouver. Definitely will be coming back and encourage others to give this resort a try, you will fall in love!
I was so looking forward to going but was so disappointed with the trip. Had to fly in and rent a car to go to this resort which us fine but expected top notch which us not what we got. The worst was our room oaid $280 per night and selected mountain view vs lake view bit cheaper. Room was fine but the location put us in the basement with the rooms fir pets. All niht for our entire stay head this very loud large dog barking. When i called to complain they said nothing they can do because we are in pet section and dogs are ok to bark all night there. Told them when i booked nobody mentioned being in the basement pet section. My wife gas mild alergy to pets but they did not csre. That was the worst stays we have ever had. Also to get to our room we take the elevator from the lobby to by the first floor then walk a very long hallway then have to take another elevator to floor -2 yes -2 into parking garage pet level. A few more issues, they have a nice Tea room bc to sit and relax after soa but have no tea just water. No cleaning the rooms ordered some appies to be in the room when we arrived which they were but nobody picked up dirty dishes they just piled up in our room for the entire stay. Some people just put in the hallway and had to walk by every day seing dirty dishes staked up in the hallways They have a nice Authentic restaurant but do not take reservations. Went there 3 times but could not get in and only open 11 till 3. First time went at 12:30 and they said 45 minute wait so left and came back and asked to put our name down and will be back in an hour as we had a spa treatment. They said no would not take our name because we would not be back in an hour as the wait is only 45 minutes but they said cone back after your spa So i did after so went back at 1:30 and they said nope now booked up till 3 and cant get us in. They said they allow people not staying at the hotel to go to the restaurant so always booked up. They should give priority to their hotel guests Will bc say the spa treatments were great expensive but great. Plus you have to book months in advance and not the nicest customer service when booking In the spa steam rooms the have a section where they have cold face cloths but 75pct of time they were out We spent $1,000 per night with our spa treatment to stay in tge basement with very loud big dog barking walking by dirty dishes piled up and with no access to their new restaurant. We complained several times about issues but nobody cared. They are good at getting minimum 20pct tips for everything Very disappointed will not be back Pic of the lobby of the floor we were on…
We had a hard time talking to anyone over the phone at the spa to book appointments. Requested in-line and phoned. Finally, email worked and we booked massages! Then because of miscommunication by email… I receive a relaxation massage (from someone who wasn’t a massage therapist) instead of a therapy massage. So you pay the big bucks and can not even use insurance to help cover it. When we were there… there was hardly ever anyone at the Spa Desk. It could be due to Covid still but the customer Service wasn’t great. The Spa is nice though. I suggest booking in for the sauna and steam rooms when you get there (45min each time). The restaurants are great too! Book your dinner reservations before you go, we had to wait until 8pm because we didn’t book early enough. But have fun getting ahold of them to do so!…
A birthday present with my daughter for three nights. Could not have gotten around without wheelchair. Impressive décor of millions of crystal installations. Surrounding views of beautiful Okanagan Lake were stunning. All spa offerings very continental. I enjoyed the hot pool and warm infinity pool the most. The new little Gast House offered the best food and service whereas the dining room was disappointing. Breakfast 'mussly' was cold mush, hash browns cold. We had to ask and wait for condiments such as sugar, cream, ketchup, and fill of coffee.
I looooooved sparkling hills so much until our last visit. It really has lost its sparkle “no pun intended “. 1. No longer can you visit the steam rooms and saunas in the morning. 2. The rooms could use some updating. 3. The dining options are restricted to one restaurant which was severely overpriced and not very good at all. There was six of us and we all were disappointed. I don’t mind paying top dollar for a meal but it should be top-notch. I had the duck breast with sun chokes and squash purée and some other fruity garnish. 40.00 - I received 2 slices of duck meat a spoonful of potatoes which were not fully cooked in the middle, and a thin drizzle which I assume was the purée of squash. Luckily I ordered the small ceasar salad to start. Wh we’dn it says duck breast I was assuming I would get more then 2 slices. Don’t even get me started on the lobster 2 other people ordered which looked like a prawn. The menu selection was limited- but we could live with that. We of course didn’t say anything because when you are there for a special occasion you don’t want to spoil the evening. Also it’s not the servers fault. I miss the Barrique restaurant which for some reason is no longer open. Maybe they are doing some changes but our last trip was not as sparkly as we thought it would be. The staff was great and helpful.…
I dislike giving poor reviews to any institution, as my history can attest to, but Sparkling Hills just keeps running into walls with their awful customer service. We have stayed there several times but after the latest comedy of errors I think we’ll steer clear of this resort from now on. When we booked for our last stay we tried to get in touch with the spa for days. Eventually we got hold of them and attempted to book treatments. They told us to please choose treatments from their menu for the specified dates and we made a list of treatments that we could enjoy with our stay. After we sent them in they responded with ‘we are fully booked for your entire stay’. Then why ask us to choose treatments! After our stay we waited 45 minutes for our car to be brought to the front and eventually the manager came and said that the valet had gone home with our key the previous evening, and he will be returning but lives far way and we must hang tight for an hour. I said it was out of the question and we asked them to post us the key. A week later the key arrived in an envelope with my name on it in the post - but not a letter of apology of any sort. The final straw was when we decided to cancel our upcoming trip with them for the above-mentioned reasons (we usually book them several times a year). We got a confirmation of cancellation email from them a month prior. I then got a voice message from them stating that we were a no show and would be charged the entire stay, which we were - unless we submitted a proof of cancellation. Is it the guest’s job to provide a proof of cancellation a month after a stay is cancelled? When I sent the email to reservations I got no response, and no apology for the incident that blocked over $1000 on my credit card. I would suggest they improve their customer service urgently. The facility remains quite good, and there are lovely people who work at the restaurant, but the front of house staff have become a travelling circus.…
