Spent 5 days enjoying the Hotel and facilities. Spa treatments were exceptional with well trained and very professional staff that knew their work. The rooms are very good with great views unless you are in the basement. The food at the restaurant was very good just not a lot of variety. The Hotel seemed fully booked and long lines to check in at times. Trying to provide full service during a pandemic is hard. Saunas were all closed and pool and hot tubs number of visitors are limited. Despite dinner reservations at 630 pm we waited 20 mins in line to be seated. Good Covid precautions in place. Agree with other reviews that the staff were great but Management needs to properly staff the service areas with appropriate numbers. Phone call were slow to be answered. Not sure that you really get the value from this place during a pandemic. Would go back in the future and recommend this place to friends but would suggest let the pandemic pass first. Waiting is definitely a skill you need to learn before you visit this wonderful resort....Not sure why no Coffee makers in room since in the past you used to be able to grab a quick coffee at the restaurant lobby. They took it away because of COVID and now you have to order coffee as in room dining but that is if someone will answer the phone

We spent three nights in this resort and it was very relaxing. Staff at the check-in counter was very friendly. Valet parking is offered, which is nice, but not a deal-breaker - I’d prefer to park my own truck. We had a Mountain View room (there is also a Lakeview option; both are attractive). The rooms had floor to ceiling glass windows to maximize the views - very nice. The beds was very comfortable and the room design unique. There is no balcony, but the one window does open to allow fresh air in. There is a small fridge, but it would have been nice to have an in-room coffee maker. Due to Covid, the spa and sauna rooms were off limits. The pandemic also changed the breakfast options: Breakfast is included in the room rates, however now you have very limited options, and for extras on the reverse side you have to pay (which is strange, since it used to be a buffet style breakfast). Having said that, the meals were splendid. The pools and hot tub were open, and was very enjoyable with stunning views over the lake and valley. Because of the pandemic, they limit the number of chairs and loungers available. The result was that some people came down to the pool area, and put a personal item on a lounger, and disappear for hours, leaving some bathers with no seating options. Instead of monitoring the above, the pool attendant was more concerned with monitoring people’s cellphone usage, which was somewhat annoying but also amusing to watch. People, having become so accustomed to their devices, just find innovative ways of sneaking it in and use it anyways. Maybe get rid of the no device rule, it’s not working and honestly not necessary. We dined out in the restaurant for lunch and two of the three nights, and the experience was exceptional indeed, but very pricey and the portions were somewhat small. The hostess and waitresses were all very friendly and seems to enjoy working there. The rooms have robes and slippers, and guests are encouraged to use those to get around for most of your stay in the resort, even for breakfast and lunch. However, bring your own sandals/slippers, as the ones provided are not very comfortable and mine did not fit properly (causing it to break). We had develop an issue with the room keycards, which had to be re-programmed twice during our stay - it was a bit irritating because each time we had to go down to the front desk, and both times had to fall in line behind other people. There was also an issue with our lavatory during our stay but maintenance staff immediately attended to fix it.

Summary: * reduced spa amenities (No sauna, steam rooms, cryo, fewer spa services) *food has improved in the main restaurant but small portions; terrible food in cafe, do not order food at the cafe! you've been warned! *not worth the price given reduced services/amenities, food quality *staff were friendly and professional, following COVID regulations A number of spa services were reduced, cryo chamber, steam and saunas were closed - yet the price does not reflect the fewer services. I understand there are COVID procedures but there were so many things the resort could have done to make up for it if they were to charge the same price. Valet parking available - nice that it's included in the room price. Rooms were okay - missing wine glasses though, which makes me question how thorough their room cleaning checks are. When we requested for new glasses, we weren't in the room but they left the glasses on the carpet in front of the door...not wise for COVID times. Generally, we got what we needed from front desk, usually pretty quickly. Spa services were reduced drastically - we almost couldn't book a service and we called 4 weeks in advance. Luckily some guests cancelled and we were able to get something, even though it wasn't what my friend and i wanted. The pool and hot tubs were open. There was a security guard there monitoring the number of people but he looked very mean and not pleasant - ruined the vibe. The ladies who helped with the spa treatments were great for the most part. One of our friend's appointment was 15mins late and no one came to the waiting area. When we asked a random person walking around, it was actually scheduled with her and said the schedulers did not give her enough turn around time to clean the rooms. There should be a better system to let staff know that guests are in waiting area. Like a tv screen showing guest name, time of treatment, who will do the service. Breakfast was complimentary but very limited choices - it used to be a buffet so it's odd that they are making us pay for 'other' items. The food was fine but nothing spectacular. Service was slow but the staff were very friendly and helpful. Dinner was decent - friends have mentioned the food was not very good a few years ago and they were pleased to see things have improved. However, portions were small for the price. The daily risotto was an odd choice - taco seasoning in a risotto; it was like eating a taco porridge... does not say 5 star to me. Cafe food was horrible - definitely not worth the price. Names of menu items are misleading. Just call it what it is. i.e. Don't call it a "tonkotsu pork ramen" when you are serving us udon with carrots and bok choy and some old pieces of pork in flavourless broth. Cannot believe you charge guests $18 for the "ramen" - that is more than what some Michelin star restaurants charge in Japan for their ramen. I understand I'm paying a premium already because we're eating at the resort, but still! Very disappointed. The ahi tuna poke bowl - it was just a salad with taco seasoning (again!) with a few tiny cubes of tuna. nothing about it was a "poke bowl". The cheese plate was literally triangle slices of cheese you get from a costco platter - luckily we ordered this during happy hour so it was half price, but still, totally not worth it. Just call your food what it is and don't use 'fancy names' to make it sound better than what it really is. Please take some time and google these items and compare it with what your kitchen is sending out. It embarrasses the resort and turns guests away. You are one of the very few restaurants in the area so please don't try to scam your guests. It will only hurt your reputation.

Service very slow to the room. There is no complimentary coffee or tea. All the water you want though. During COVID-19 the services have been reduced. No sauna no steam rooms and no ice chamber even though there is no evidence of COVID in those facilities. But the pools and hot tub remain open???? Just get to the outside early to steal and hog the lounge chairs for the day. Typical people go down early and place their belongings on the chairs to keep them all day. Just like mexico. We do recommend it though. Breakfast and Supper included was awesome. Beautiful views and hiking trails. Rooms were awesome and they all have great views.

Having been a guest of Sparkling Hill Resort in Vernon, BC, since the very beginning, I have to say... Sparkling Hill has come into its own. Spent 5 nights at sparkling during Covid, and had some concerns prior to arriving as everyone does. The Management and Staff of Sparkling HIll have implemented a whole long list of covid protocols which are impressive and ooze confidence that they really know what they are doing. However, onto the really good things that Sparkling Hill offers, as one day Covid will hopefully be behind us. The dining experience has changed and frankly is AAA in ratings. You can tell the Chef knows what he is doing to be able to present such amazing gourmet meals, and the restaurant Managers know how to manage reservations to afford a great experience for the guests. The servers at both breakfast and dinner were always friendly, efficient and attentive. It was a true pleasure to dine at Sparkling HIll. Food is an important part of my travel experience, so very thrilled that they are now at the top end of AAA. I was not disappointed even for one day out of the five I spent at Sparkling HIll, rather I would say I was IMPRESSED and appreciative especially during these covid times that they can pull off such a dining and resort experience. The Spa is of course amazing, and even though the saunas were closed due to covid, the rest of the Spa was open and well managed, well staffed and a pleasure to hang out in. I had the luxury of a massage treatment early on in my stay with Chad, and WOW... I QUICKLY booked two more visits with him for my stay. Can't say anything more than excellent. The Spa reception is always friendly and eager to please, and work their magic to get you what you want if they can. However, do book early (preferably before your arrival) so you are not disappointed as they do get booked out almost all the time in my experience. Valet Parking - Quick, fast and the young men who jockey the cars are friendly, attentive and a pleasure to deal with. Please make sure you tip them, it is always nice to see young people with such energy and upbeat attitudes and they should be acknowledged. Housekeeping was on the ball, they understand the art of turning the rooms quickly and the rooms being 100% totally clean. Because of Covid there was not daily housekeeping, however anything you wanted or needed, appeared with a smile. Again a real kudos to management and to the housekeeping staff. The gift shop, well I will be honest and transparent, I go in there each visit to Sparkling Hill, to look for that special Swarovski gift that I need. I have never been disappointed and always come away with great gifts every time. The buyer for that boutique knows how to find the right changing products, and some are exclusive to them so you know you wont find them elsewhere. So make sure you visit them while you are there, even if you don't buy its worth looking at. The last piece is how friendly everyone is, always smiling, respectful and willing to help. It is obvious that the CEO Hans-Peter from Austria and his entire management staff pick good employees, and ensure that they understand european hospitality is with a smile and with the attitude of wanting to make the guest's stay a happy one. I hope you can tell that I am very impressed with Sparkling Hill and even more so because with the challenges of Covid they continue to be on top and show what they can do.
