I was celebrating my birthday in Victoria and what better way than to look up on google the best hotels and I choose this one since I had amazing experiences in downtown Montreal at the Marriott. When I spoke to Bonvoy's booking agent, I decided to splurge on the balcony option and once I checked in and had a quick tour, settled in and fell asleep. At 11:33pm, a loud, sledge hammer banging sound, awoke me out of my deep sleep. I was more annoyed when I was awoken again with two bangs at 12:33 and 12:34am. Since I was very sleepy, I went back to sleep. On my way out for the day, I mentioned about the loud noise that woke me up twice in the night, and to my amazement, the reception said 'it was a known problem, to do with the HVAC system'. I was beside myside with how casual she felt about my being woken up twice during the evening. She said she could move me to another room and I responded with 'please make me happy!' and handed her my room key. When I returned at 7pm, I was greeted with a smaller room with NO balcony. I was furious, I was paying extra for the balcony and they didn't say anything about a reduction in my room rate. I checked out of the hotel at 8pm. Once in my car, I called Bonvoy customer service and was offered another property at prices higher than available on the web. I explained to her that I was upset that she was charging me more than the online price. I was meet with arrogance, interruptions and eventually I yelled at her to 'Shut up'. Then she hung up on me! I booked the other property online and it also ended up being a rather blah experience. A few days later, when I finally got an email from the manager of the hotel, it was pretty much a form letter, with incorrect grammar "Your experience of overall is below our standard." and "I hope you choose to stay with us again when your travels bring you back to the area." Basically, summed up, they know they have noisy rooms and they don't do anything about it and we hope you stay with us in the future. Huh?? You can be guaranteed that with no compensation for the reduction in the room size and balcony and noise that I will NOT be staying with this hotel again. This manager really is not in touch with what a 4 star hotel is all about. So I sent off a request for my credit card company to get involved in this dispute.

I am absolutely blown away by the front desk staff of this hotel. Thank you, Janet, and your team, for accommodating a special request for a very special celebration for my family. As a Vancouver Island local, I stay here whenever I need a hotel in the city, and recommend this hotel to all my business associates and family traveling to Victoria. The location is convenient, the service is outstanding, the rooms are lovely, and the views are stunning - definitely ask for a high room with a balcony! The lobby restaurant is a great place for business meetings (extra bonus) and social visits - you can actually have a conversation without raising your voice. If you are with a larger group make sure you reserve the heated patio.

Had a wonderful overnight stay at the Marriott downtown Victoria. We live in Victoria but wanted to do something different for New Year’s during Covid. The service was excellent and the lobby had a beautiful ambiance. It was fun being able to go down the elevator and have a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant, a bottle of Prosecco and then take the elevator back up to our room afterwards without worrying about finding a taxi ride home. The room was spacious with a cozy king sized bed, a really nice couch (I really like not having to sit on the bed when you are relaxing in the room) and a great city view. We will definitely do this again sometime!

Everything was functioning, clean, friendly, hot tub and pool working and open without theater, good breakfast. Great location right behind the Empress. Happy. This property is overdue for a total renovation. The interiors are dated, scratched up, and the elevators are beat to heck. Still other than the dated appearance we had a very pleasant stay.

We stayed for one night on the 9th floor and, although the room was across from the elevator, it was very quiet. Very little street noise as well so we’ll insulated windows for sound. We did not use A/C given the time of year but when activating the heat in the morning, it was not noisy. The room was comfortable, if basic. We had no issue with the comfort of the bed at all. Fire and Ice is the downstairs restaurant and, while we did not dinner there, we did partake in a happy hour glass of wine and appetizer and it is a very nice, modern setting with decent wines by the glass and nibbles,
