We waited 10 - 15 minutes for dinner service in bar while waiters entertained each other. It looked like hotel had no management on that day which was a Thurs. evening. We have stayed at the Marriott for years and never saw this type of service. We will start staying elsewhere till they get proper management .
Great, clean hotel and it’s been updated. Really nice location just behind the Empress. We got 2 conjoined rooms which was perfect for our family- 2 adults and 3 kids. There was no coffee in the lobby but Starbucks was steps from the hotel. Good service, although we didn’t need much while we were there. Overall a great stay and I’d definitely stay again!
I just wanted to shout out one of the kindest and most generous and sincere gestures I have ever experienced from any hotel employee - maybe ever...! While sitting in the M club lounge; I mentioned a local favorite candy - Wine Gums - and the folks in the lounge hadn't heard of them. So I teased them and said how much I like them. The young man in the lounge, Boyan, went out and found some wine gums to bring back to me! Wow, what a kind gesture... That is what I call going above and beyond!
What a disappointment. We had booked for two days using the Bonvoy App, checked-in the room on the app as requested by the system. Yet, when we arrived early evening, the hotel manager had given “our room” away — yes, our guaranteed room on high floor as my app indicated to “someone else”. The M club for Titanium members here is a joke— an empty room all day with four pieces of gummy worms first come first serve. Breakfast in the AM is the only food provided and much worse than a Fairfield Inn spread. You can hardly even find the musty smelling RO water bottles. The rooms and bathrooms are also old and a musty smell comes from the bath sink. Was overall my worst Marriott experience. Never again.
We had an excellent two night stay at this Marriott. It is located right downtown, convenient walking distance to many things. Our room was on the top floor (concierge floor), in the corner with a balcony, we had a beautiful view, and the room was quiet. The bed was extremely comfortable. We used the on-site parking. By the second night, the hotel was very busy, so we were able to park since we had a reserved space while others couldn’t. The front desk staff was welcoming. The M Lounge breakfast was very good, with fresh pastries and nice fruit. The lounge staff was very nice. My only complaint was that there was no regard for social distancing on the elevators, and people would crowd on without masks. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.
Requested hotel staff to come unclog our slow draining sink, never got a follow up. Tried again with no avail. Guest are not a priority here. Would not come here again and would not advise others to book here too.
It is 24 minutes past midnight and I just called the front desk to report excessive noise from the room above me. For the last 90 minutes, I have been unable to sleep due to excessive screaming and floor stomping. The front desk attendant seemed agitated that I called. I told her that if the noise persisted, I would call the local police. She scolded me telling me that a noise complaint was not an emergency and that I should not call the police. She then informed me that there were other complaints and that someone was enroute to handle the situation. At what point do guests have the right to act like hooligans, disturbing other patrons. My experience at this hotel was a disappointment.
Nice 4 stars hotel. Located the best place downtown Victoria. Service (people) of the hotel is besr ever seen!! The woman in the reception who answer any question we had. Miki in the restaurant who made us enjoy our simple breakfast.
The location for this hotel is excellent. You can easily walk to the BC Maritime Museum, the Museum of BC, Emily Carr House, Beacon Park, an outdoor market, shops, harbour area, Chinatown…..we just walked and walked! You can’t walk from the airport though so you will need to arrange for a taxi, bus, etc. If you just want to be in the downtown area and are able to walk distances, you won’t need a car. There were many good restaurants nearby. I think we liked Red Fish, Blue Fish the best and it’s not really a restaurant but is a fun experience and the fish is cooked perfectly. We had little interaction with the staff but they did seem to be pleasant, saying hello, etc. We had an afternoon drink in the outdoor bar area but we didn’t eat at the hotel and did not use the pool, fitness room, etc. While we were checking in, we were told that since we were staying four days, our room would not be cleaned. I know other reviewers have mentioned this. Not long ago we spent four days at a Bonvoy resort and we had the choice of daily service or bonus points but at the Inner Harbour there was no option. Quite frankly, it really isn’t a problem for us to make our bed or hang up our towels but I don’t care to be asking the front desk for shampoo, etc. There was one tiny bottle of shampoo and a half filled bottle of conditioner for two of us for four days. Most hotels, have large containers of body wash, shampoo and conditioner attached to the shower wall and that’s so much better for the environment than those tiny bottles. The hand towels should have been replaced and the garbage needing picking up. I did see one bag of garbage left outside a room but felt that was not appropriate. I think the hotel should think about this cleaning policy and that’s why I did not give them a rating of five out of five. Our room was quiet and we did not have a balcony. We faced the pool area and the view was of the street, other hotels, condos, etc. The decorating was simple but very nice. We did have trouble using our iPads with the internet service but the tech support was helpful and fixed us up right away. The beds were comfy and our room was clean on arrival. We had no complaints about the room decor and the bathroom was nicely finished. Closet space and hangers were sufficient. There was a safe, small refrigerator and housecoats. I would have preferred a larger bath mat but that’s a minor complaint. This was a good choice and we would be glad to return here.…
Really great location - downtown, Beacon Hill Park, the Clipper dock, and much more. Comfortable beds, friendly staff, and generally pleasing environment. But as previous reviewers mentioned, the hair is truly disgusting. All over the bathroom floor, in the bathtub, on the pillows, on the sheets, on random surfaces. It’s just everywhere - almost feels like someone saves it and places it there. And it’s clearly different types of hair, so it seems to travel from place to place. If you’re not too fussed about that sort of thing (husband didn’t even notice) then you’ll be fine here. If that sort of thing makes you cringe, choose another place to stay.
