We arrived in Victoria near the end of October, when the fall leaves may have been "peak colour." We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful, peaceful place to stay - easily walkable to a number of destinations, and given how beautiful the neighbourhood is, any number of walkabouts are possible. Our room was lovely, well-appointed, and extremely comfortable. Hosts Diana and Alex were so welcoming. Breakfasts were multi-course, without meat, and carnivores won't miss it. This pair is truly skilled in the kitchen, from souffles to baked goods and smoothies. Fabulous coffee (important!). Alex was extraordinarily helpful with recommendations, and graciously gave us leave to hole up in the library to get some work done on the only stormy day (which happened to be our departure). Individual breakfast tables were well-placed to reflect health protocols, without sacrificing any views. One would be hard-pressed to find better hosts anywhere - in Canada and beyond.…
My husband and I just spent 3 days at the Villa..........this was our second time staying there! We loved it so much the first time, we had to return. Diana and Alex are fantastic hosts and the breakfast every morning is Michelin star worthy! Alex made a point of asking what we'd been served for breakfast during our first visit so Diana could make something that we hadn't had before - she made Eggs Cocote with all the trimmings. Words alone don't describe how delicious the food is. We stayed in the Persia room again, which is at the back of the Villa. Not that the front of the Villa is noisy because it's on a very quiet street. When we visit Victoria again, we'll stay at Villa Marco Polo Inn, we love it there!! Thanks Diana and Alex!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Villa Marco Polo. It is a beautiful building, with a lovely garden, in a very nice neighbourhood that is close to yet secluded from downtown Victoria. Diana and Alex were great hosts. The breakfasts gave us energy that lasted well into the afternoon. We will definitely return the next time we travel to Victoria.
The mansion is lovely in a beautiful quiet area of Victoria, about 15 minutes walk from excellent restaurants. Our room was lovely -- spacious with lots of natural light, and French doors opening above the beautiful garden; the fountain provided a delightful background for a good sleep in the large comfy bed. The breakfasts were lovely --very large and I kept intending to eat only half of everything, but tasty food is so hard to resist. Most of all, the hosts Alex and Diana were lovely!! We will return.
I can’t say enough about the Villa, Alex and Diana are wonderful and caring people. They are very hospitable and friendly. Diana took the time to explain sights and restaurants to see. The food was excellent, the place was spotless. It was a privilege to stay at such a amazing place. One of the best we have ever stayed at.
