Our 2nd stay at Hotel zed and we loved it once again! Casual & comfortable with super friendly staff. The free 24/7 coffee is delicious too. We relaxed in hot tub & let all our worries drain away so we could enjoy our time in Victoria. There were many guests but nice & quiet overnight! My daughter and I can't wait to go back!
Hotel was the only one available at the time. It is on a very busy street so it is pretty loud. The pool was directly below my room so it was quite loud till the pool closed. The lobby smelt like vomit and sour milk, I could barely stand to be inside long enough to check in. The room itself was nice and very comfortable for the price.
Comfortable beds, lots of pillows, pretty colours. Screaming children in the pool and hot tub from 8am - 10pm. "Retro" bathroom was more like "ghetto" bathroom. Currently a lot of nearby construction every day of the week.
I booked a room so I could do some renovation work, and the hotel is a big hit with my kid- he loves the decor, and the pool. Have referred friends and family to Hotel Zed; they have all been pleased with theme and amenities, and they will be thrilled the Ruby restaurant is open again- excellent breakfast spot! The room itself; very clean, very comfortable beds, loads of cloud like pillows, and in spite of being close to a major artery- quiet inside the room. The reception staff are friendly, upbeat, accommodating; the whole stay was enjoyed by all. Out of town guests appreciate the location- it's easily accessible to events, close to shopping and restaurants, the waterfront features they enjoy are a short distance. Thank you to all for supplying a great experience!
We had to cancel our Christmas trip to Victoria due to the atmospheric river so we decided to try a re-do for Spring break. We booked at the Zed because the room was perfect for dogs and giant teens. We had three beds so we were able to spread out and the hide-a-bed was so comfortable as one of the beds that we did not even have to swap around during our trip. Our room also had a kitchen where we could feed our teens 24 hours a day, what a cost savings!! The staff at the Zed was the happiest bunch I have ever seen. Everyone was smiling and they even included a wee Christmas tree in our room to harken back to our cancelled trip. All in all a great experience in a funky, fun hotel. Oh, and the teens loved the bikes and long boards, pingpong tables, old school video games and pool/hot-tub along with their own tv in the room and the giant mall across the road. Ideal!!…
Stayed for three nights at the end of March with kids ages 10 and 12. Chose this hotel to be closer to my brother’s house (than staying downtown) and for the pool/water slides. Hotel Zed does a great job playing up the retro theme. Website is a perfect representation of what to expect. We had a Sweet Suite and it was a great size for a small family. Not a ton of storage space but we made due. Love having a little kitchenette for snacks. We didn’t prepare any meals but you absolutely could! We had a little stovetop, pots, sink, fridge, microwave, dishes. The room had a bit of a musty smell but it wasn’t overwhelming or awful. Beds are doubles and perfectly comfortable for this class of hotel. No complaints! They have obviously invested in upgrades and keeping the property clean and in good working order. It’s retro but not shabby. The locations is great for being central but it is noisy. Between a busy road and a large construction site. They provide earplugs for a good reason. Didn’t bother us but it might for others. Kids enjoyed the pool and water slide. They do a good job of putting in little sitting/hangout spaces where they can. Kids also enjoyed the ping pong lounge. Our room was not serviced during our stay. Not sure if that’s normal or a covid thing. If we really needed it, I would have asked. The wifi was pretty bad. If I had needed to work, it would have been a problem. Overall, a great stay! Reminded us of the Kings Inn in San Diego but better kept and updated. 100% recommend!…
Great atmosphere for our whole family. Clean rooms, with lots of pillows. Friendly staff, with an upbeat feel to the hotel. The pool was clean and the hot tub was just the right temperature. Lots of towels on the pool deck.
The well designed room was very clean with an operating window and sliding door on opposite ends of the room which made for great air flow. The amenities were handy, I even made use of the laundry facility since I was there for several days.
An unexpected medical emergency for my terminally ill husband led me to look for accommodations nearest the Royal Jubilee Hospital. The wonderful welcome of people and comfort truly gave me some much needed ZEN rest in a clean and cozy room, at a reasonable rate, as near to my loved one as I could be. I felt truly WOWED by the credit for my 2nd night when I had to leave earlier than thought.
I wanted to book a fun little last minute getaway from Vancouver to Victoria for the weekend but also didn’t want to break the bank. Hotel Zed had amazing prices and a really unique and fun place to stay. If you love anything 60’s/70’s themed this is the place for you. We rented out the Zedstream and highly recommend it.
