Birds of a Feather B&B is nestled at the end residential neighborhood at waters edge. You immediately feel the connection to nature of this special place. Morning coffee sitting on the dock taking in the morning sunrise as you contemplate your day of activities. My favorite activity within 30 minutes west are the swimming holes and water falls of Sooke Potholes Regional Park. After a day on the river stop by the Browns Socialhouse pub (12 minutes from B&B) and finish your day back on the dock taking in the sunset and the Olympic Mountains.

We enjoyed comfortable seating near the water’s edge with views of blue heron, geese, swans and seagulls flying over the lagoon. There are plants and flowers adorning the many terraces of the B&B, and hummingbirds frequently darting about! The full breakfast was delightful and presented in regal style. Our family enjoyed the complimentary canoes and bicycles. We spotted the head of an otter peeking above the lagoon’s surface. In the shallow parts we watched tiny crabs running over sand dollars and clamshells. We biked to Hatley‘s Castle a short distance away, and walked the three gardens surrounding the castle. The B&B owners were welcoming, friendly, and extremely helpful with all our needs. In the evening, we walked to the Strait of Juan de Fuca to see the ocean waves rolling in on the beach. On the way back we spotted a deer with her two fawns, lots of quail skittering in and out of the bushes, and rabbits munching on the grass. You will undoubtedly enjoy this peaceful setting nestled next to a bird sanctuary, yet a short distance from the busy city.

Stayed only one night, but was impressed with this property. Very organized owners and awesome service. Free kayaks/canoes to float around the lagoon with. Very peaceful in the morning. One of the owners surprised us when we were enjoying coffee on the beautiful deck overlooking the lagoon with fresh baked banana chocolate chip muffins right out of the oven. They were absolutely delicious and so well timed! Very clean room. Stayed in the loft room that sleeps 4 but just the 2 of us this time. Will definitely stay there again. Not much around there for restaurants (we were on our bikes) but we used Skip the dishes for delivery of pizza and wine on their nice patio area. Reasonable price too.

This is a gem of a location inside and out. As soon as you pull up you get a sense of calm, quiet beauty. We stayed in the family room (it was just the two of us but that was the room available) and it was lovely, clean, comfortable and spacious with a fully stocked kitchenette and the BEST soaker tub and rain shower in the bathroom. The exterior is even better - we had our own private deck, but my favorite was the huge deck at ground level and the big Adirondack chairs at the end of the dock where you could watch the birds in all their glory. Every day around 5 my husband and I would be entertained by the many beautiful birds floating and flying nearby - we saw geese, swans, cranes, and I think herons (although I'm no bird expert). Sitting out there with a glass of wine watching the bird party was my favourite part of the day. This B and B is right across from Hatley Castle and the Fort Rood lighthouse (you can canoe, kayak or bike over there if you want) and within 20-30 minutes of a ton of attractions like Butchart Gardens and downtown Victoria. At the end of a busy day, I loved coming back to the calm, quiet peaceful atmosphere at Birds of a Feather. It was less expensive than a hotel room in the area and you get so much more. We are definitely coming back again.

We enjoyed our two night stay. The accommodation was first class and the views were wonderful. Quiet and restful location. Excellent breakfasts especially the home made croissants and muffins. Lots to do nearby such as a walk through the grounds of Royal Roads University and around the lagoon. We plan to go back.

We rented all 3 suites for our family of nine (3 families) for a self-catered holiday. It seemed each suite was designed to accommodate each of our families: the honeymoon suite for my husband and me, the middle suite for our daughter, her husband and teen son and the family suite for our daughter, husband and 2 teen sons. The attention to detail was evident in the the supplies provided in each suite: makeup remover, coffee/tea, restaurant suggestions, TV remote directions (wish more accommodations would provide this), etc. The B&B is well located for a quiet stay on the lagoon watching the waterfowl and wildlife. Our grandsons played cards in the outdoor seating area and enjoyed the hot tub. We hiked to Hatley Castle and the gardens and walked along the beach across from the property. And we were close enough to enjoy the sights of Victoria just a short drive away. The highlight of our trip was a private boat trip for our family out to the Saturday Farmer's Market on Saltspring Island. Dieter regaled us with stories on the way to the boat and pointed out landmarks on the trip. If there were any Cons about our stay they would be: #1: we didn't stay long enough to take advantage of the kayaks and paddle boards provided or the many hiking trails nearby. #2: because we were self-catering, we did not get to enjoy Paphata's fine breakfast that other's mention.

We were met by the hostess when we checked in and were given a wonderful tour of the place as well as clear instructions on the use of the kayaks/paddleboards and the hot tub, which was really nice to have. The hosts are very friendly and clearly love what they do. They are very friendly and love to interact with their guests. We rented out the three bedrooms together as an extended family and it was perfect for us! My family of four stayed in the family suite, with our teenage boys sleeping in the loft and us on the queen bed. The beds were extremely comfortable and we all slept soundly. The place is very clean - not a speck of dust to be found. It was nice to also have our own little patio where we could eat lunch and have drinks when the sun was out. There is a lot to do on the property! We walked over to the castle/college to see the grounds and the various gardens. Our boys used the hot tub every night. Other members of our group walked out near the beach. Unfortunately, we didn't take advantage of the kayaks and paddle boards as our itinerary was full but it is a lovely amenity to have. We also took a boat ride to Salt Springs Island for the farmer's market (this is a trip that is booked through Birds of a Feather) and we really enjoyed that trip. We highly recommend Birds of a Feather and would definitely stay there again if we return to Victoria.

I was bought a gift card to this B&B for a staycation (I am from Vancouver), and this place far exceeded my expectations. The room was spacious and clean with just about anything you might need. Our room being the honeymoon suite had a private patio overlooking the lagoon and a very large clawfoot tub. This B&B is nestled in private and secluded residential area right on a lagoon with water feeding in from the ocean. This lagoon is a bird sanctuary, where we saw tons of wild life, right from our window - exotic migrant ducks, tons of Canadian geese, and we watched a bald eagle catch a fish. The best part of this place is the owner Paphada - She was extremely kind, and helpful in how to get around the area. Not to mention, she made us two incredible breakfasts. This Bed & Breakfast offers so much including a beautiful room, several outdoor seating areas, a dock, kayaks, paddle boards, canoe, bikes, a hot tub and truly the friendliest service. Be sure to check out the university campus near by that has multiple gardens (rose, Japanese, & Italian), as well as an incredible castle! I look forward to coming back and sending my friends & family to visit this beautiful spot.

Staying at Birds of a Feather was one of the highlights of our trip to BC! The property and setting exceeded all expectations! We booked rather last minute, so only the smallest room was available for the 2 of us-- but NO MATTER! It was the setting of the property, the spectacular view, the private dock, lovely landscaping, and cozy outdoor seating areas that made our stay so memorable...and, worth every penny. True, the single room downstairs is, indeed, small, but it didn't bother us a bit, because we had drinks and hors d'oeuvres out on the patio furniture facing the lake, and we played cards in front of the fire pit, under the string lights, rather than hanging out in our room. Inside, our room was thoughtfully stocked with everything you could need, and more! They provided us juice and yogurt and REAL milk and cream for coffee and cereal. Cute bathroom with nice soaps and shampoos and other amenities. To our surprise, the owner delivered to our room warm, homemade blueberry muffins in the morning, even though we didn't opt for the Breakfast! So nice and really delicious! The owners were charming and welcoming, and the description of the property and rooms are accurate--we will definitely return on our next trip to Victoria. So nice to stay outside of the city, and get a morning kayak in! :). Highly recommend!

Gorgeous property in lovely area. The lagoon and ocean at your doorstep. I have stayed in all the rooms as I travel weekly and in the height of summer I stay mostly in the smallest room. Every room has a fridge and coffee maker, and the fresh baked muffins daily are perfection. The hosts are lovely and as a women traveling alone, I always feel safe. Restaurants are a quick drive away. Can't recommend enough. Even going to book a stay for my hubby and myself just to enjoy Victoria
