I've stayed here off and on for the last 8 years and have gotten to know the staff who treat you like an old friend. From the front desk staff to the cleaning staff to the maintenance personnel they have always continued to amaze me in the way they treat me. Their kindness and their helpfulness are qualities that astonish and continually surprise me. It's just the little things the staff has gotten right. The rooms are comfortable and my room has a small kitchen that is fully equipped to be able to cook small meals. Within walking distance there is a number of fast food franchises.. What more could a person want.

Its an OLD Building. Pretty headboard and couch doesn’t hide this. Heard everything passing by my window and it’s got that lingering smell of ... well, old. Parking lot, halls and getting around hotels is chaotic. And a little creepy. Back of hotel had construction trash everywhere. I did not find the staff helpful, more like bullies challenging me to stay there. Bed was hard and pillows lumpy. And it’s location is not close to anything. So... yea... not going back.

The Red Lion is an old building that has been recently updated, however it is still an old building. The bathrooms are very small and the toilet was so low I kept just dropping to the stool. The location was good, the front desk staff were very helpful and the price was right.

The room was clean and nice, the bed was comfortable, but the pillows were like you'd get in a cheap motel. They were flat and no amount of fluffing could make them useable. If not for that, I'd have been quite content. As it was, I didn't sleep nearly as well as I should have. As an aside, the handle in the shower came off in my hand, but was easily put back in place and remained useable. The manager was distressed this had happened and we were told it would be fixed before new guests were in the room.

you are in for a treat if you stay here. cheap it is from the room price to the security. we took the last room but were told by the front desk clerk to park in the back parking lot as the front one was full. we went to our room to freshen up but once we went back to our brand new cat we found it was broken in to. of course there were no security cameras where we were told to park. the view was completely blocked. police were called and a report made. was thete an ounce of sympathy from the desk clerk you ask. Not a drop. we wete told when we asked to park in the hotel owned liquor store parking we wete told our car would be towed. as i am disabled my wife had to go and park in the back and walk all the way around the outside of the building back to the front entrance by herself at 4:00am. the clerk told us that there had been 3 recent car breakins but nothing had been done to beef up security. i remember the red lion of my youth, a brawlers drunken paradise. i guess you can put makeup on an old pig but that doesnt vhange the gact that its an old pig. many better places to stay in victoria for the same price or less;and they include breakfast.
