Booked hotel through Black Ball ferry as part of a package selecting the king room for our anniversary stay. Upon arrival I was told we were in a room with 2 queens. I advised the lady at the desk I booked a king as my husband is a tall man and it's our anniversary(a milestone one). I was told "Your room isn't guaranteed when booking with the ferry." I told the employee how wrong that is and that a king is needed as my husband is a tall man. She then told me "I'm sorry we have nothing but we have upgraded your room" Once we got into our room I saw there was no upgrade. It was a standard room with balcony, which all their rooms have a balcony. Our view was directly at the back of the hotel looking into a tree! Not exactly the romantic or comfortable stay I was hoping for. When asked about a room switch I was told the hotel was "full." This was a lie. You could see how dark all the rooms were in the evening/night. I would have gone and complained to management however I did not want to waste all my time in Victoria dealing with a problem that should have been rectified immediately. I will never be back and I will definitely not recommend staying at this hotel unless you want to be disappointed. Thanks for making our anniversary memorable in the worst way.

Experience at this hotel was exceptional. CRYSTAL at the reception was incredibly kind and who could speaks Korean as well. She kindly explained every perks of this hotel and wverything was amazing. The breakfast at Fathom was excellent. Pool was great, two diffrent types of sauna and hot tub was also good. The room was clean and the view of the harbour was fantastic and romantic. So if you can choose, I highly recommend you to check sea side. Overall, the experience was so great .

Luxurious in every single thing. Room was wonderful- bright, spacious, comfortable. Keurig coffee and tea. Balcony was amazing. We had a harbor view room and could sit and watch all the boats and people.

This is a wonderful place to stay in Victoria. The employees are outstanding and made our stay very enjoyable. The location is close to everything and the view from our room was memorable. Was not our first stay and definitely won’t be our last.

The one and only reason I chose this hotel over the many many other hotels in Victoria was because I liked sitting outside at the tables and working or reading and enjoying the fresh air etc. You can’t do that on the balcony because it’s too small and the chairs are dreadfully uncomfortable. But this time they have chained off the tables. I phoned front desk and I was told I wasn’t allowed to sit there. He checked with someone else and confirmed this. Seriously? What would happen if someone sat there? Oh perhaps other tourists drive by and see that you have this lovely spot? Good grief! I won’t be back. I am just angry. The beds were okay in the room but everything else is old old old and so outdated. I won’t be back!

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay. My apologies that our gazebos weren’t open last weekend. The weather turned unusually quickly this year and we opened our patio earlier than we have ever before. Unfortunately, we could not open the whole patio and still serve the inside of the restaurant and lounge efficiently. As for the rooms, it sounds like you stayed in our West Wing which is due for renovation soon. We have our Signature Rooms in the East Wing of the Hotel which are newly renovated. We appreciate your feedback. Kind regards, Kirk MacMillan

We booked our stay through the Coho ferry website. We walked off the ferry and right across the street to our hotel. This was a perfect location! We were a five minute walk to the Empress and museum, next door to the Parliament which is gorgeous at night with the lights. The pool and spa areas are wonderful. We will definitely be staying here again and again!

Everything was perfect!! We enjoyed it all; from the super friendly and helpful staff, to the cleanliness of the hotel, the comfortable beds, nice restaurants, balcony with a view and the proximity of sights around beautiful Victoria Harbour. It really is a grand hotel in a great location. We will definitely be back!!

We were able to walk to everything! We did the self guided tour around Parliament. Shopping and books and gelato just blocks away. E-bike rentals at Pendray house just down the street. We came up on the Clipper and this hotel is only 1 block from the dock. We walked to the harbor where the fun house boats and best we ever had fish and chips at Barb’s are. We included a trip to the Butchart gardens and fancy afternoon tea. It was the best! Also the museum was amazing!

Fabulous hotel, wonderful staff, perfect location facing the harbour and not far to walk to Fishermans Wharf. We would definately recommend this hotel. Our room was beautiful, make sure you book a seaview/harbour view room, the views are amazing, especially in the evening. The doorman were just wonderful, really happy and engaging. Only a 5 min walk into the centre, perfect location. We would stay here again.
