I've stayed 3 times at this property in the last year. This time I checked in using points as a Platinum Bonvoy member we always get upgraded. This time we were told they could not and we were in a room without a view. The carpet was so worn I tripped and fell over it and landed in urgent care with a fractured wrist! It was like I was in a completely different hotel than the one I stayed at just 6 weeks prior. Doors slamming all night as kids ran down the halls and the Club floor breakfast was like the Hunger Games. I felt terrible for the poor women/teen girls in the Club as you'd have thought that some of the guest's hadn't eaten in weeks. The powdered eggs were pretty bad but the fruit and coffee were fine. The staff at the front desk are very young and many had no clue as to even answer simple questions as to locations that should be second nature ie. where is the water taxi stand. Also, NO is their favorite word. No onsite store for even small items such as Advil or a hairbrush. We were told we could walk to the Shell station that was open 24 hours. On a positive note, the housekeeping staff really tried hard, they smiled and could not be more positive and kind. The ironic part of the room was they said the hotel was sold out, but when my sister booked she had no issues getting the room with the view and or the upgrade. I guess booking with points means that we get what we get and are lucky. Disappointing as we spend and stay at Marriott / Bonvoy all the time. The room needs complete paint, tables are chipped and the bathroom had zero fan so when you showered the entire room was full of steam. Incredible disappointed and when we called to share our concern about carpet we never got a call back.…
I was given a room that stunk like cigarettes at a smoke-free property. Housekeeping brought a machine called Restorair that they advised would clean the air. It was turned on by them while the room was occupied. The machine not only produces ozone which is harmful to breathe, but it had a warning sticker on it not to look at the machine because the UV light can burn your retina. We were not advised about either of these hazards before they turned it on. When I told them about the smell they told us to open a window and leave our room for an hour. The smell is still there. It’s 2:45am and they tell us they can’t do anything. I understand if every single room is fully booked, but They did not take initiative to offer any kind of compensation at all. They are acting indifferent to our situation. This isn’t the vacation I had in mind. I’m very disappointed.…
Good location although not in Victoria for sightseeing and required a pet friendly hotel. Used airmiles as sponsors pulling out and wanted to use before defunct. Room had a lovely view and was clean, comfortable, but needs updating. Seemed overpriced. Only had breakfast at hotel and staff were lovely. Ellen was outstanding and a shining star!
We've been coming to this Hotel for many years because we prefer the location, views and service. Though they no longer offer a shuttle around town (maybe that will change with increased travel), the staff remains warm, friendly and EXTREMELY helpful. A day after arrival we both tested positive for Covid. Our plans of a 5 day stay turned into 10 with the first 6 days hunkered in our room. Bedding, bathroom supplies, quantities of water, coffee and tea were delivered quickly outside our room. They recommended web site to download health information with help getting necessary medication and delivery. When we finally emerged from isolation they couldn't do enough to help us enjoy the balance of our trip. I will ALWAYS recommend this location. We'll return (AGAIN), hopefully under healthy conditions. This location is about their PEOPLE!…
We were traveling with our three granddaughters for a graduation High Tea adventure. We picked Victoria BC and the Delta Marriott and we’re very pleased. Our Black Ball ferry delivered us to Victoria before check in and the desk clerk had rooms for us. The water taxi from the ferry port/Empress stop took us right to the Delta stop with all our luggage. The Rooms were comfortable, the Club Room worked out well for our large party and the server in the bar on the evening of June 29 has the best customer service. Taxis were ordered, directions happened, what a great visit to Victoria BC
Good location, close to the wharf. The staff were polite and helpfulOnly criticisms the air con is very loud and the ‘free’ WiFi is awkward to access, even with help from the concierge, I mistakenly signed up to premium WiFi, which to be fair the reception staff reimbursed me for.
This is my third stay at the Delta - reviews here complaining about how old and tired the rooms are should have stayed here in 2011 before Delta was taken over by Marriott. Stayed here in July 2021 and then for one night in March. The rooms have been nicely refurbished and apart from old fittings like AC units and windows they are clean and comfortable. The lobby is lovely and all staff very pleasant and helpful. Parking is easily accessed and convenient If you manage to get a room that faces the harbour the views are great - you can watch all the action including ferries and seaplanes. The water taxi to/from Fishermans Wharf stops right outside too. It is a 5 minute walk across the new Johnson St bridge to restaurants etc.
We have stayed here several times over the last few years. Love when we get an upgrade with a harbour view! But our last stay, we noticed a lot of wear and tear in the room and there was dust on the lamps etc! They could use a renovation but I would miss staying there!
Hotel was great as always. However it was very disappointing to see the sauna is closed, it was one of the nicest amenities and the main reason we stayed here in the past. Front desk cited “COVID “ which doesn’t make a lot of sense since all restrictions have now been lifted.
We stayed here for our first night on Vancouver Island. I'd last stayed here about 10 years or so ago and had lovely memories of a great stay. And I'm happy to say I was not disappointed a decade and one global pandemic later! Beautiful property, friendly staff, and really comfortable mattresses and pillows. We also received a recommendations for the best fish and chips in town from one of the front desk team members and it was absolutely spot on.
