My experiencie at Cambie Gastown was really awful. The first thing you'll see once you get there is the cool bar downstaris, but don't let it fool you. The hostel, itself, is REALLY DIRTY (I mean, REALLY) and the building is almost falling apart. I spent two days in a 4-bed mixed room (this is not the problem, I'm really...

Place is disgusting, toilets are always backed up and messy, no hot water for showers and the male bartenders can be quite rude for no reason. Decent location and kinda cool place to hang but there's just so many bad things about staying there. I would recommend staying anywhere else.

There is something gritty and real about the Cambie that I love. Do not expect the yaletown atmosphere or even the typical gastown. Real place for reasonable priced drinks. Unfortunately, the women's bathroom was absolutely disgusting the afternoon I visited the establishment, and it was not even prime time drinking time.

Cambie Bar and Grill, under the Cambie Hostel is a great place to have a Burger and beer and meet people. Friendly atmosphere, on Tuesdays they have Beer Pong Night and it is packed with people of all ages.

The hostel has a great location and has a nice bar/restaurant. The rooms are spacious but were not that clean and could use some fixing up. It was also pretty noisy if you want to go to sleep "early" to catch your bus... but if you want to party you probably can have a great time in the hostel. Overall...

The Cambie Hostel in Gastown is in a great location surrounded by everything you will want to see/drink/party/eat. It is not the cleanest place in town as the building is pretty old but the Staff makes up for it for sure. Jenna M. really made our group of 4 feel at home and made sure we were taken care of,...

The bed was comfy and even had a good pillow - they are very rare in hostels worldwide! But don't expect to get to sleep before 2am, even with industrial ear plugs. The hostel is very central but they have a very rowdy bar/club attached and I felt like I was in the club itself by the noise level. I...

Great location for a night or two. Lots of great restaurants around and nightlife. The room we stayed in for the first two nights was a little small and there was stuff everywhere. I think someone was living in there long term. The room we had for our last night was much nicer. It was bigger, cleaner, and had some...

The hostel was not the best when it comes to the quality of the dorms and washrooms, however there is a free breakfast or $3.50 discount on breakfast menus, and the location is really good only a 5 minute walk from Waterfront Station, which can take you almost anywhere and also very close to Canada Place with a great view...

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. Our hostel always welcomes guest feedback so we know how we can improve our service and facilities. We always want our guests to stay as long as they like at the Cambie but we can often book up many days in advance, especially on popular weekend nights. Of course you would have been...

Staying in Gastown

Neighborhood Profile
Gastown
A visit to Gastown is like turning back the clock and stepping into a bygone era. With the distinction of being Vancouver's oldest neighborhood, the many plaques that stud the cobbled streets of Gastown tell the story of its colorful past, giving Vancouver's history a more lively presence here than anywhere else. Having been originally founded around a popular worker's saloon, it's no wonder that today some of Vancouver's best micro-breweries, creative cocktail joints, and corner bars can be found in this area. Classical charm suffuses its many vintage boutiques and the brick-built structures that an army of creative professionals call home.
