This hotel is centrally located which makes it very close to many restaurants and stores, not too far of a walk to gastown or yaletown (about 20-30 mins). This hotel was a quick overnight stop, so I didn't get a chance to enjoy the pool or other amenities the hotel offered. Nothing extravagant but included everything needed in a hotel.... More

Stayed here for five nights prior to a Cosmos coach tour/cruise then stayed again after the cruise, we were on the 11th floor, then on the 8th, found both rooms very spacious and comfortable, the A/C was very noisy had to switch off to sleep, the front staff were very helpful.

We stayed on the 4th floor facing W Georgia - didn't hear a lot of noise while staying over weekend. The room was clean and cozy (small). As others have mentioned, it is a very dated looking building. The staff were fantastic; the restaurants were good; and you couldn't beat the location to Rogers Arena or BC Place! Should we... More

Great set up for traveling with older children and a boy/girl. Queen beds separated by bathroom with a sitting area and sleeper sofa, nice little kitchen across from bathroom. Everything we need for a great visit to beautiful Victoria my only complaint would be location a little ways away from activity but not far enough to keep me from staying... More

A large ugly block of a hotel. Our tiny room was on the top floor and was clean enough for our two night stay, we didn't hear any noise and our bed was comfortable enough. The restaurant was very much laid out as a American diner and although the surroundings were poor the food was surprisingly good. We had an... More

It's not very often that I am very disappointed in a hotel - it has to be really bad....but the Sandman on West Georgia is an old, tired, worn hotel that uses some decorating as a cover for what really lies underneath. First up, we were checked in by a gentleman that could do nothing but show his distaste for... More

I booked this room for a two night stay in July of 2016. It was a standard queen size room. After reading some of the reviews, I was a bit hesitate to stay here, but it wasn't that bad. Our main reason for saying here was the location. We didn't have a car or utilize public transit or taxis, so... More

If on a budget, Vancouver is a challenge. You give up something in return for a room under 175 dollars. The Sandman is downtown just a few blocks from Gastown and the main streets. So that is good. Rooms for a single are terribly small but clean and well kept. Not much room, no fridge. Lobby and elevator need improvement... More

This is mostly a review from a wheelchair-accessible viewpoint. Although this hotel is centrally located, they aren't really what I would call accessible. The bedside light didn't work, the drain stopper in the sink did not hold water, and there was no hand held shower, despite a holder for one, and the drawer was broken in the bedroom. We made... I can't review this hotel because we didn't get to stay. My friend and I arrived at the hotel at 4:30pm to check in and get ready to go to a concert. We were told that at 4:00 they had attempted to put the charges through on the credit card but it didn't work and they had given away our... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.
