It is outdated but nice place to stay. Its clean, spacious and quiet. There are 4 packing lots for the guests. It is also good for walking distance to the subway. The breakfast was good enough. Check-in was simple, there were no staff present upon arrival.

Stayed here for 3 nights in the Elizabeth room. The guest house is very outdated and does have an uncanny resemblance to an Elderly person's care home, it even smells of stale cooking and damp. The arrival process was odd. There were no staff present upon arrival, therefore some guests had to let us in and we collected the key... More

This is a charming b and b with some very nice period pieces. However, it is in need of some TLC- attempts to improve rooms have resulted in some odd fixtures and fittings e.g. in the room we had the carpet had been cut to allow tiles to be added around the base of the sink, however, the finish on... My wife & I stayed four nights in the Charles room, leaving on Aug. 21. We have stayed both here and at the Douglas House on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. Of course, the rooms are small but one should expect that when staying in one of the bedrooms of an Edwardian residence. The rooms are clean and... More

Good for the price and walking distance to the subway. Sergio was very helpful and the breakfast was good. Only problem on the third floor was water pressure in bath definitely affected shower and water closet performance. We would stay there again

Price was fair for level of accommodation. Location is very convenient and neighbourhood was quiet at night. Breakfast was very good. Parking at back was available. Late check-in was simple. Shared bathroom was no problem. Some minor concerns: no guarantee of parking--although I got a spot, the street was full and the back lot was full; the building is old... More

Excellent location. Breakfast pretty good: omelets and pancakes made to order. The house smells, probably because of the old carpets throughout the house. After opening the window, it is tolerable. The window in the Diane Room could not stay open and had to be propped open with a cup. Bathroom on 2nd floor is clean but needs more countertop or... More

Having to leave early to catch a flight, it would have been nice to supplement the regular breakfast with something to carry away or at least self-serve a croissant with jam. The converted large home was an elegant and comfortable ambiance that felt like a home away from home -- perhaps something one would experience visiting a distant member of... More

We travelled in mid July and stayed in the James room. Even at a discount rate, we will not be back. The room was not clean. It was hot and had a terrible smell, which got worse when we opened up the sofa-bed. The fan was broken, the counter hadn't been wiped and the blinds, doorknobs etc. looked like they... More

The Guest House was well located near City Hall, within 5/10 minutes walking distance of the nearest Sky Train station. It was also just a half an hour's walk from Granville Island and Queen Elizabeth Park. There was an efficient system of letting yourself in after finding instructions in the mail box although this was rather impersonal and we would... More

Staying in Shaughnessy

Neighborhood Profile
Shaughnessy
Residential neighbourhood to the ultra-wealthy, the gorgeous manor houses centred around The Crescent area are a fabled sight to behold. Shaughnessy is Vancouver's most verdant plotted neighbourhood, and its tree-lined streets, walking routes, bike trails, and charming public parks make for an ideal location to spend and afternoon communing with nature. Consequently, it is also the botanical centre of the city, featuring conservatories and an expansive Botanical Garden, taming and sculpting the wild into seasonal viewing areas and enchanting landscapes. Quiet, elegant Shaughnessy excels at providing the Three Gs: Gardens, Golfing, and Galleries.
