Neighborhood
Granville Street
Granville Street spans many, multiple city blocks and has become so fastidiously known for its nightclubs and watering holes that it's fondly nicknamed the city's 'Entertainment District.' Friday and Saturday nights are the most popular and lively, with young revelers taking to the streets in droves and keeping the party going until late. Granville Street, being mostly open to pedestrian-only traffic, has a healthy social life along its main thoroughfares, even outside of its cafes and pubs, spilling onto the sidewalks. The locals are chatty, the shops at its expansive Pacific Centre Mall are trendy, and the whole area seems to be on a sugar rush: in a good way. Exuberance and camaraderie classify this neighbourhood.

I stayed at this hotel for a business meeting. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are big. The hotel is in a building that is showing its age, but it is well kept. The rooms are big and comfortable, and it even has a mini fridge (no minibar). The breakfast buffet is good and the waiters are quick. My only minor complain is that the fruit selection is somewhat limited: a fruit salad with canteloupe, pinneaple and other kinds of melon, or bananas. What about some apples or something like that? The meeting rooms are OK. The hotel even has a pool, although it is too small for swimming. The gym is adequate.

Chris, Chris ,Chris is the best part of the place! Friendly and always willing to help, in general staff is very friendly , there is a timeshare guy in the car rental, not friendly at all. Rooms are quiet, somewhat modern and comfortable, in general is great, location is within walking distance for everything, parking is expensive , restaurant prices are fair and the food is also very good, I would stay there again for sure, more if I can find a good deal again like I did. I will recommend this hotel to anyone!

I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The lobby is pretty upscale for a Holiday Inn. The room itself was pretty typical. Had everything you would expect from a mid price hotel. The only downside of the room was that the sink area was in a separate room from the toilet and shower. Both were pretty small. There were 4 of us staying in the room and it made getting ready a challenge. The location was very good. It was downtown and convenient to restaurants and attractions.

We booked the hotel through Diamond Resorts International who implied in their listing that this property was also a resort. It is not a resort; however, the hotel did have a lot of amenities on site. A restaurant and bar is available serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu is limited but the selections are excellent and very good. There is a spa available with several services available but the massage is the one that we used. The technician gave great massages. The fitness center is open 24 hours and they have a heated inside pool. We had a King Suite with the sleeping area separated from a living room by a dresser that the high back served as a wall mounting the TV sets on both sides. The room also contained a mini fridge, microwave, and a Keurig coffee maker. The full bathroom was very small actually the smallest one I have been in. You had to close the door to access the tub/shower. Someone commented about the one elevator bing in service. We had only one very small elevator in use for a week of our stay and it was difficult to get to and from your floor during the rush times. After a week the other elevator was back in service and it alleviated the issue with the elevators. We had great service from the staff during our two week stay. All were very helpful and friendly. Excellent housekeeper serviced our room.

Being an IHG Spire Elite member I speak with a sound knowledge of what to expect from an IHG HI hotel. I stayed here for four nights, so got a good overall feel of both the hotel and it’s location. This hotel is tired and in need of a refurb, especially in the rooms. The bed was good, but the room was dark, oppressive, and in generally poor condition. I was told I had received an upgrade but it certainly didn’t feel that way. The only other positive about the room was that it was spacious, but it wasn’t a suite. A further positive (which is why I awarded a further mark) was the staff were generally friendly, pleasant and helpful. Additionally in the main lobby there are two elevators, one of which was out of order my entire stay, and reading some further more recent reviews still is. Come on IHG, this is simply not right in a 7 storey hotel. The lobby at times was heaving with new arrivals waiting to get into an antiquated single elevator. There were a couple of other lifts but you had to go to the first floor to access them so if you had cases they were of little use. Whilst the hotel is marketed as downtown, it is but be prepared to walk to popular tourist shopping and restaurant areas, plus it a good 25 minutes walk from the harbour and gas town. Taxis are not easy to come by, so plan accordingly. Not one of IHG’s finest I’m afraid, but it did serve its purpose!

Good day S5293HFrichardm, We appreciate the feedback from your four night stay and thank you as a valued Spire IHG Rewards Club member for giving us your insight I am sorry for the impact caused with the elevator being out of service. This caused delays for all of our guests and while we certainly appreciate the patience however it is understandable that this does not reflect well. The elevator has been repaired and we are scheduled in Q4 for a full refurbishment of our elevators which should be received positively once completed. I trust that you enjoyed your overall time in Vancouver and again my apologies for the issues you experienced. Sincerely, Tanner
