Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is very central. I’ve stayed here several times over last few years. It’s seriously time for a complete Reno. Outdated and very tired. Will not stay here again until it’s re-done completely.
This hotel needs to be upfront with its customers. As with an earlier review we found this hotel to be surrounded inside and out by drug users. To arrive at a Holiday Inn to see people injecting drugs on the hotel property was alarming. It exposes customers to safety issues and concerns especially seeing as the hotel doesn’t address it all. Will never stay here again and don’t recommend for other travellers.
I was stunned to discovery when we checked into the Holiday Inn on Howe street in Vancouver that it is currently renting 50% of the hotel to BC Mental health, to house street people who are mentally ill & hooked on drugs . As you can image, these street people are screaming and yelling all night long in the hotel. The street in front of the hotel and the lane behind the hotel are filled with drug addicts who are also staying in the hotel during the day. They weave back and forth on the streets and then return to the hotel to eat and scream . This is a holiday travel experience you will never want to have, a holiday from hell.
Managers treated myself and family poorly and humiliated us by falsely alleging we had left blood and used tampons all over the room and caused $300 in damages and cleaning fees for standard vacuuming and bedding bleaching done for any room. Our boys left a mess from eating twinkies on carpet but no stains alleged by manager or ‘damage’. A chocolate milk spill by youngest son 4, who is physically disabled and doesn’t have full function of his mouth yet was never a reason before by any hotel to keep a deposit or charge excessive cleaning fees. Manager reneged on bloody tampon lie once we arrived to take photo evidence of damage for litigation purposes.
Bed was good...but the road traffic was a bit too loud. Within walking distance of restaurants and the Scotia Theater but the area seemed a little run down. I would probably try another place next time if the prices weren't too much more.
