The authenticity and quality of service is what i thought what the guest could possibly ask for, especially when all you wanted to do is relax after a long exhausting day, or after you room around vancouver. Because this place is so close to the heart of downtown vancouver, I really personally love the place because of it's access to... More

Barclay House is a first-rate B&B, a place so comfortable and pleasant that it's impossible not to feel at home there. The staff seems to have already thought of every detail that could make the stay enjoyable, from the free champagne to homemade chocolate-chip cookies placed in your room every day to the blankets provided for relaxing on the front... I have mixed feelings about this place - some of it was very nice and some not. My main beef was the heat. Yes, I'm a post-menopausal woman with hot flashes, but really...75 inside the house is TOO hot. I could probably live with 70, just 'cause we were on vacation. But 68 is better (this is all in Fahrenheit,... More

This is a great place to stay. The staff were prompt and friendly. The rooms are very clean and modern. The hotel is located very close to a wonderful walking path. Next time I visit downtown Vancouver I will definitely stay at the Barclay House B&B.

This is a wonderful bed and breakfast! The owners, Art and Dennis, were so accomodating and kind, and the house is absolutely lovely and full of charming details and cute decor. It was really quiet and comfortable in our cozy room, and there were cookies waiting for us when we arrived. Reasonably priced, perfectly located. Breakfast was great! I cannot... More

Was referred to the Barclay house by my wife. She wanted a B And B experience for her birthday weekend. I’ve done B and B’s and I’m not a fan. Sometime about staying in someone’s house isn’t appealing to me but I understand that people love them. The room we stayed in (the Haidaway) was very unique. A basement type... More

The Barclay House is one of a kind! What a beautiful place...You would not be disappointed! The rooms all have your own bathroom and sitting area, the beds are super comfy and the breakfast in the morning is amazing! :) The location is excellent too. Very close to Robson Street and English Bay, you could walk to both. I would... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
