Room was clean and spacious. Many toilets on the floor and showers clean. Was a bit hot in the summer but they do have a fan in the room that works quite well. Nice big TV and quiet rooms. great location in the West end with lots of restaurants nearby but still on a quiet street. Good value for a... More

It is a low price hotel (I had a room with toilet but to use a shower I had to go to the one in the hall), but the value you get is great: rooms are nice and clean and adequately furnished, my matress was nicely hard so that you do not wake up with pain in the back because... More

Was very pleased at the location and the price. Not much to say - great value, perfectly comfortable stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. My stay was short but I experienced no problems. Would recommend!

OMG our stay was horrible there. We booked only 2 nights at the end of our stay and I thanked God we didn't book more than that! - When we entered the room there was an aweful smell and it didn't get any better even with the fan on and the window opened. It was like there was a dead... More

Thank you for your review. Obviously the Buchan Hotel didn't meet your expectations, and for that I apologize. There's one issue I can address immediately which is the internet connection. Our service provider has just updated our routing equipment, I'm hopeful this will address the problem. More

This is not the Ritz! It is a great BUDGET hotel. Very simple room, very clean, in a fantastic area. It is walkable to Stanley Park, to dining, shops, etc. If I am ever in Vancouver again, I will absolutely stay here. We walked to a bike rental shop and rode bikes around Stanley Park. This place is super clean.... More

It was close to several restaurants and situated on a quiet street. With a great location, it was easy to walk to almost any location in downtown Vancouver within an hour. Considering the prices of other hotels, this had the best value. While the rooms were basic, without any airconditioning, they do supply fans that can help cool you down.

Hotel room smelled of cats, stain on carpets, bathroom doors didn't shut properly or lock. A good coat of paint needed throughout desperately.stsircases and railings all chipped. Value doesn't negate cleanliness.

Great location, lovely lobby, friendly staff, nice rooms, quiet street, good restaurants and shops nearby. But I disliked the dirtiness in the drawers. And I would welcome a power socket at the mirror.

Large enough rooms, very clean, and friendly staff. Shared bathroom facilities weren't a problem- never had to wait to use the shower. The best bit is the location, though. Around the corner from busy Denman St, but on a client part of Haro St. Just down the road from glorious Stanley Park, the Second Beach swimming pool and the Harbour.... More

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
