I was pleased with the level of cleanliness observed in my single room. Wifi and cable TV worked fine. Bathrooms were closeby and toiletries were provided. Stayed here in mid-May, so weather was mild, comfortable room temperature. Hotel is located on a quiet, safe strip but very conveniently located to all major downtown attractions. Walkable to a bus stop. No...

A very clean, simple and quiet hotel with comfortable beds and basic amenities. It is perfectly located near Stanley Park and English Bay. Next door is a bar, and a block away, transportation to wherever you wish to go. Very friendly staff . Good price . Recommended for anybody in the area.

I love the location and staff. Convenient traveling from airport by light rail and bus. Many good nearby restaurant and walking distance to Stanley park. However, the room wall is so thin so that you can hear the sound from the nearby room. The sound from adjacent room keep awaken me up at night.

We liked the check in very much and also the location of the hotel. It was a pity that we had to use the fire staircase to get to the second floor. The room was a bit warm and stuffy. Very nice that we had a parking place!

Good service, good location in the downtown, quiet part of it, near the Stanley park, encased with trees, flowers..., near the Whole Trade market, several bars and bycicle rentals, very kind stuff... the room is basic, a bathroom is too much basic... Maybe will be back...

Perfect spot to enjoy all the West End of Vancouver has to offer. So many fantastic small restaurants and pubs in the area it is hard to choose where your next meal should be enjoyed at! We walked and walked and walked and even rented a tandem bike to ride around the seawall enjoying the beauty and vibrant community feeling...

I felt very relaxed and in safe surroundings.Comfortable accomodation though basic. I am 80 and travel alone around the world I prefer this type of residence to modern high rise hotels. Highly recommend.

for a short trip, if you don't mind the missing bathroom. Everything was clean, complimentary coffee in the relaxation room. I can't tell about rooms with bathroom. Toilet and showers were OK. Parking costs 10$ per day.

Here's what I liked most about my recent stay(s) at the Buchan: The price is excellent; the location very very good; the staff friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and nothing particularly special (which makes sense, given the price). Biggest negative was a pervasive smell of a cheap scented cleaning product; even with my room window open all night,...

Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
