If you don't want to break the bank while touring Vancouver, stay here! It has a college dorm vibe but is clean, safe, quiet, and well worth the price. Bathrooms are down the hall from the room, but we never ran into any other guests...More

This place is a hotel/residence. There are a lot of students, so in the night there was noise in the room halls. The rooms are quite small, and most of them have shared bathrooms. Wouldn’t recomend this place for families, but for students its a...More

Vancouver's business district, the Downtown area is bustling with smartly-dressed folks balancing their lattes and briefcases to and from work. The area's plethora of contemporary commercial, residential, and corporate spaces has bred a landscape of nouveau restaurants, chain cafes, and upmarket shopping options. However, located right on the waterfront of Vancouver's energetic Harbour, Downtown is a also
popular public meeting spot, with a massive public library and convention center attracting a bevy of visitors both local and not, as well as a hotspot for the arts, being home to some of Vancouver's most cutting-edge galleries. With behemoth architecture and a professional air, Downtown means business.

I had a large suitcase and I took the SkyTrain. YVR is a terminal stop, so you shouldn't have to worry about getting onto a train full of people. The cars are wide; I believe it was built for the Winter Olympics.

Yes, the YWCA has an on premise underground parking lot. The number of stalls is limited and when I make my hotel reservations I always request parking as well. The parking rates are a steal (I believe under $20 per day). If you check out other parking rates, they are approaching the $30-$40 per day range.
