Thanks for mentioning your experience in the Restaurant. The views are great and so is the food and service. I always appreciate when guests that have a great experience at the Hotel take time to write as it has been my experience that most guests mostly write when they have a bad experience. As you can read, our guests love...

I'm not used to tiny rooms and bathrooms like The Sylvia but this place is very quaint. You can't beat the location though! It's right off English Bay and Stanley Park and near all kinds of delicious restaurants.

At this time of year we are always sold out and so some guests that book on line or book last minute get the smaller rooms as those are the rooms we sell on line thru third party web sites. If you require a larger room please call the hotel directly to get the best room types and rates. We...

Only tiny rooms and baths prevented this terrific place from garnering five stars. The building is in a sensational location on English Bay at the steps to Stanley Park, within blocks of some terrific restaurants and a stroll from much of what Vancouver has to offer. The staff - both front desk and dining room, where we enjoyed daily breakfast...

A nice review and sounds like you enjoyed your stay. Did you know that we have a number of different room types in this heritage building? so if you require more size please let us know at the time of booking as we have some rooms that are more than 1000 square ft. Most of the bathrooms are smaller in...

Sylvia is a wonderful hotel - we had a small suite (422) which was excellent value, lovely views, very nice bed and linen, good wifi ... charm with convenient location. Very obliging reception. Only comment was some late night noise but that is the price you pay for fresh air from real windows that open ...

After having had wonderful stays at the Sylvia many times in the past, I had a disappointing visit this Spring, during renovations when I was put in a small, musty room with no views out the one uncovered window. However, I just stayed there on July 3, and I again had a wonderful experience again. I was upgraded to a...

An excellent central Vancouver location at English Bay. The area is nice for walking. The hotel is cosy and classic. I was pleased with all aspects of the hotel, except for the wifi in my room. The wifi was very weak in my room.

I was happy to read that you enjoyed the heritage feel of the Sylvia Hotel. Our location suites most peoples needs and access to the Beach and Stanley Park are very popular. I will look into your issue about the wifi as we have not had any complaints for years after we upgraded the entire system. I am sorry that...

I can't believe we stayed in the same hotel as these other reviews. I agree the hotel is a lovely building but our room was horrid. Old fashioned, musty smell and the bathroom was so badly decorated, a child might have done it. The ceiling and the door to the cupboard had been boarded up over a hole and just...

I am sorry that you did not appreciate the room you stayed in, 229 has a great city view and is one of the smaller rooms in the hotel. If you required more space we do have larger rooms, however the bathrooms in all rooms are smaller than most as we are a heritage site and the design of the...

12 days in June at the Sylvia Hotel, you will be the envy of all your friends. Staying in West End

Neighborhood Profile
West End
A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
