The Sylvia Hotel is a designated heritage building, ideally located on English Bay, beside Stanley Park and just 5 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Built in 1912, the Sylvia Hotel is a city landmark and one of Vancouver's greatest treasures. The location is a favorite for business travelers wanting to be out of the busy downtown core, for families vacationing on the beach or for romantic getaways. The Sylvia Hotel is definitely one of Vancouver's best kept secrets. The old fashioned character and friendly service gives travelers a home away from home. The Sylvia Hotel offers a fantastic location, great value, superb quality with a wonderful beach-side dining experience!

Stunning location... You can't ask for a better in Vancouver! Right across the street from the English Bay, a 2 minute walk to Stanley park. The new were the part of the hotel is very nice, and the older portion is just fine. The rooms are not fancy, but very clean and roomy. The front desk staff is very helpful and personable.

We stayed here for two nights before a cruise and it was a wonderful choice. Much more affordable than many of the hotels closer to the cruise terminal (and only a $10 taxi ride away). The hotel itself is historic and lovely. It's got lots of "old" touches that feel charming. The rooms are small but I have no problem with that. Bed was very comfy, no complaints about anything... except one thing. The "free high speed wireless internet" was extremelyyyy slow. Basically unusable at some points. I had some work I was hoping to get done before the cruise and I couldn't do it here unfortunately. That's the only downside and might prevent me from coming back for a longer stay someday - otherwise we loved it. But the location was wonderful! You step out of the hotel and you're basically on the beach right by the water. A few steps in one direction and you're at the beautiful Stanley Park, where we spent a lot of time and I went for an early morning run. The other direction you're right near the ferry to Granville Island. Lots of great little restaurants and places nearby too.

Came highly recommended and exceeded our expectations. Room was a bit small and bland but the rest of the hotel, esp. the dining room, is completely stunning. Beauty was everywhere we looked. Fantastic breakfast overlooking the bay and amazing, helpful staff.

We have now stayed at this hotel four times during this summer as it is a convenient location to Grandville Is. and other restaurants and tour buses. The service and the effort all employees put out is great to enjoy. The prices of food and drinks are normal for Vancouver City. This hotel has big view windows and we were fortunate to meet the head waitress Christine Russell who we feel works very hard, is observant of customer needs and gave us a reserved table near the coroner window. This is so much appreciated! You are the best lady server at this hotel. Your experience and knowledge of customer needs is a very welcomed feeling. We had the moroccan Stew and chicken Entree which we will NOT have again. The food we have enjoyed previously but I/we feel you should have two waitresses in the restaurant. The sunset was gorgeous! Hotel in walking distance along the beach to the Grandville Is. ferry and a very adventurous Is. and to have a meal on the pier. We were served by Steph(teacher) on the patio so gracious and nice smile, best in your career! Our maid Jureza did a superb job each time and rooms very neat, clean, and some updated rooms. We will be back for sure! Longbeach.

This hotel came highly recommended to us by friends that stay whenever they visit Vancouver. We were thrilled with it - we spent 8 nights there and have absolutely no complaints. It is a small hotel and the rooms are small but have everything you need. We basically slept/showered and dressed in the room. As it is a few steps to English Bay we spent a lot of time sitting on benches watching the ocean/boats and sunsets. The staff are amazing - they helped us constantly with directions and advice. We ate breakfast twice at hotel and had 3 dinners there as well - again the food was great. The bar is old school, cozy and we enjoyed drinks there with a Vancouver friend.
