The valet met us with professional service. We had been driving all day.....stressed.....we were kinda grumpy but these staff were friendly and helpful. They stored our kayaks and assisted us to get into our rooms quickly so we could relax.
Over the past 16 years of regular visits to this hotel the words "comfort, consistency and convenience" apply just as strongly as they did in 2001, and whilst the old-style elegance and charm of this old lady are still obviously patent there are ongoing noticeable...More

Someone might think that some working at the hotel wrote the review. Thank-you for all your kind words and the mention of some of the benefits of staying with us. Mentioning the service offered by the staff and the hard work they do does not...More
Yes, there are minor annoyances which could be mentioned, but they are inconsequential compared to what this hotel represents: It's not the grandest old dame of Vancouver's hospitality sorority, but Sylvia, with its location and the attitude of its staff, is the kindest and most...More
Overlooking the gorgeous English Bay, at the end of the West End, together forming the most homely and stunning parts of Vancouver. Some rooms may look out to the bay and the Rockies beyond that or you will have the view as soon as...More

A hodgepodge of landscapes, the West End combines verdant gardens and blocky modern architecture, with Victorian bits and Edwardian bobs in between. It is a paradise for takeout food, take-away coffee, and perhaps incongruously, some of Vancouver's most languid lines of beachfront. English Bay and Sunset Beach invite swimmers, strollers, and picnic-lovers to take in dusk settling over the water, or to jog along
with the sunrise, offering breathtaking views at any time of day. The West End merges together so many looks and flavors probably because it functions a hub: its the leafy pit-stop between nightlife and entertainment venues along Davie Street, and the shopping paradise that is Robson Street, offering visitors beautiful parkland to rest on, and quick, easy food to re-fuel with in between ventures.
