My wife & recently celebrated our 25th. Anniversary at this resort & were truly excited to spend a couple of days in downtown Vancouver on Sept 13th; 2022. There "Staycation" package looked ideal to us for a '4 DIAMOND RESORT HOTEL'. Unfortunately our King Suite let us down. From the red wine wall stains to the incredible dust factors around the bed area.. not in keeping with this resorts so called reputation. We were moved to another suite.. much better. This is where the story gets interesting. I filled in not one, but two forms "How was your stay with us".. not one reply!! I left a VM message with the hotel manager & requested a call back.. again, nothing. What was the purpose of my call, just to let her know how we felt and that they should take some action re their house keeping manager - not for us to seek compensation! So I ask myself.. why fill in a feed back request or decide that a call back was not necessary, so disappointing for a 4 Diamond rated hotel. Friends ask "how was your stay there?" Both the lounge bar & Boulevard Cafe (we dined) were great to be honest. In conclusion.. would we return there, probably not. There objective is to (or should be) to have you back again, right, they failed miserably. Trevor Barnett, Delta BC…
We were a little nervous as we had never been to Vancouver and not knowing the area … I can’t say enough nice things about the Sutton place hotel… from the moment we got here when they took our bags to the desk staff and restaurant everything was amazing!! An upscale vibe, with a casual feel….Burrard St has really amazing shopping and restaurants The room was gorgeous and immaculate and the city view was fantastic! The hotel is within walking distance of everything and is even a stop in the hop on hop off tour which was really convenient. We really loved this hotel and city and will be back !
I do like to give fair reviews of every place I visit. However the Receptionist who was booking myself and my daughter in to this hotel really skewed my opinion of this place. We arrived in Vancouver after a wonderful trip on the Rocky Mountaineer. This hotel was part of a package booked with Rocky Mountaineer. As we approached the person he was smiling with a fake smile and welcomed us to the Hotel. I said we were checking in and gave our details. At the end he said could you please give me your credit card so we can hold it for charges. I said to him no as it would be against my terms and conditions to give anyone my card to hold. I pointed out that we had paid cash at every other hotel and none of them had asked for a credit card to hold. He stated that he would not book us in unless we gave it to him. I asked him why they were the only hotel who asked us to do this. He stated it was their Hotel Policy. I pointed out it was illegal. I asked to see the Manager. He went off and returned with another Male. This one was equally insistent that I had to give them my credit card. Or I could give them $ 300 canadian deposit. After a lot of discussion he agreed that they would swipe my debit card rather than hold my credit card. This left me so determined not to give this hotel any off my hard earned cash. Let me tell you about the rest of the place out of fairness. The rooms were very clean, with comfortable beds, good quality pillows and bedding. The shower was a good size and clean. We did not use any other facility. When we went to check out of the place we were greeted by a lovely lady who hoped we had enjoyed our stay. I explained to her about the incident with the rude man the day before. She was incredibly apologetic. I told her it was not for her to apologise for his rude behaviour. Would I stay here again definitely not, even though it was a comfortable clean place. I am choosy where I stay. Treating customers with respect and giving good customer service is what I look for. We received this in every Fairmont hotel we stayed in. However that was not our experience at the Sutton Park hotel. Therefore I cannot recommend it to people. Which is a shame really. The two stars of this review are fir the comfortable room and the lovely apologetic Female Receptionist. The lack of the other 3 stars is due to the fact that first impressions count. That is my memory of this place.…
What is it with these hotels putting two queen beds and two long end of bed foot stools in an otherwise good sized room? We stayed here 3 nights and enjoyed the stay but needed a couple of comfy chairs and one double bed in our room! Apart from that, facilities were good and there are loads of eating places nearby including the Little cafe on Robson that’s good for breakfast . We were in room 808 on the back of the hotel so has good sunset views but would have preferred more seating in the room
Great for location, very central. Stayed on the 18th floor and so had great views down the main high st. Very very dusty. Room was in a need of a deep clean and dust. Room was also dated and in need of modernisation. Never a 5 star hotel in my opinion.
Room and location are fine. Their dining facilities are very limited. Couldn´t get a table a couple of times. Fortunately there are good options outside the hotel. Room service also limited. Stops at 10:00 pm but in one ocassion we couldn get service after 9:30 pm. You have to call one day in advance for housekeeping. The shower drain was clogged and we almost had an overflow of water.
This Hotel is very well located for everything. Very pleasant staff who can’t do enough to make your stay memorable. Very nice room on 15th floor the only negatives being the very uncomfortable pillows and the stained carpet. Would stay again if in Vancouver.
Wouldn't hesitate to use this hotel again, but just a couple of minor things that could be better. Higher floor rooms get a great view, but are quite old-fashioned in terms of furniture and decor. All rooms have no information in them at all about the hotel or environment. Comfortable, everything works, the staff are really helpful (reception, concierge and bell).
This is a solidly built charming old building that is in desperate need of a renovation. The good- excellent location, very quiet room (18th floor) with fluffy clean towels and comfortable bed and bedding. They’ve clearly updated the carpet. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The bad- all the wallpaper is stained and peeling, the bedding is old and peeling, the grout and caulk in the tub and attaching the sink to the counter is molded, drapery and shower curtain are stained, shower curtain liner sits in the floor of the tub by about 4” (wrong size), furniture is really in bad shape. Paint is chipped and dirty. Elevators need to be spiffed up. Clearly, this hotel is meant to be elegant, and should be. Tons of potential, just needs a ton of TLC.
Good location and comfortable bed. Room last decorated in the 80’s. Seems to attract money shame it’s not reinvested. Restaurant looked expensive as there was no menu outside. Had great breakfast reasonably priced elsewhere. No information in the room about anything or anywhere about trips. Asked for some more creamer which were dumped in the room and they didn’t bother to refresh the tray. Room was not serviced, we stayed 4 nights. Wouldn’t stay again.
