Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Sutton Place Hotel Vancouver stands out for its prime downtown location, making it a hit with travelers eager to explore the city's vibrant scene. While the renovated rooms are a comfort highlight, some visitors have had less-than-stellar experiences regarding the hotel's cleanliness and aging amenities, with the pool receiving mixed reviews. The staff's service quality seems inconsistent, with reports of both commendable and disappointing encounters. Additionally, guests are vocal about the less-than-transparent extra charges, questioning the overall value offered by the hotel.

I pledged to the extraordinary manager here that my review would be succinct, otherwise, I would have penned a doctoral thesis for other hotels to emulate, based on the exceptional staff and management that operate here. Perhaps this hotel has reignited my love for humanity. I arrived in Canada with the intention to seclude myself in a wooden hut in the woods indefinitely, but now, after less than a week, I see the staff here as my family. This is my favorite hotel in the world, and I've graced the halls of countless hotels, some with a price tag ten times higher. Don't hesitate, book now before this hidden gem becomes widely known and its affordability diminishes. Take the leap, you won't regret it. This place is a solid 11/10. Gabriel x

We were a little nervous as we had never been to Vancouver and not knowing the area … I can’t say enough nice things about the Sutton place hotel… from the moment we got here when they took our bags to the desk staff and restaurant everything was amazing!! An upscale vibe, with a casual feel….Burrard St has really amazing shopping and restaurants The room was gorgeous and immaculate and the city view was fantastic! The hotel is within walking distance of everything and is even a stop in the hop on hop off tour which was really convenient. We really loved this hotel and city and will be back !

I stayed here three nights for work, and it’s a lovely hotel, close by to tons of restaurants and shops. Bed was comfortable and staff was friendly and helpful. Really my only complaint was the lack of fridge in the room, so I was constantly going to the ice machine, I didn’t realize you could order for a fridge to be sent up (the fridge in the room is full of drinks already),

My first time staying at the Sutton Place and I should add that I booked during their phenomenal Black Friday Sale. The reservations staff were extremely helpful and advised me on the different types of rooms and where the renos (finishing in March) were happening. I chose a room on the newly renovated side and with the sale got an upgrade to an Executive Suite. PROS: - Very impressed with the overall look and feel of the renovated unit. - Bed was quite comfortable and the linens and the towels were very plush and luxurious. - Really liked the raised living room 'bar' with the larger sized bar fridge and even mini sink built into it. - Massive wall-mounted TV with extending and articulating wall mount was lovely to plug my work laptop into as well as watch 4k content with. I also liked the user interface that Sutton uses, as it seems much more user friendly than other major hotel chains. - Loved the spa-like feel of the bathroom along with the amazing rain-showerhead. - Curtains are thick and heavy and really block out the sun and let me sleep in if I want to. No gaps or light-bleed. CONS: - LOUD HVAC - I don't know if it's for every room, but mine had a terrible drone (I couldn't take any business calls with it on) and stayed on the whole time. I had to turn it off completely to stop it. It seemed like it was pinned at 22 degrees. So the fan kept trying and trying. - Burrard St facing (front entrance side) gets the sun beaming in during the day and really heats the room up. You're almost forced to closed the curtains. So it's either blinding light during the day or cave-like darkness. I'm assuming the north side of the building does not have this issue. I had to work in my room during the day, so I worked in the darkness (which I don't mind, but a little sun would've been nice). - No ceiling lights in the living area/bedroom. Only floor-standing lamps which only face downwards and light just a small area around it. So at night, it feels very jazz-bar like. - No free water bottles came with the room. Maybe I'm just too accustomed to it at other places. Or were we just supposed to drink out of the bar sink? I grabbed a 4L from the IGA next door. All in all, I was very impressed with the Sutton Place. But try to book during the peak deal/sales times, like Black Friday. I got a discount, a free room upgrade and even a room credit on top of that. Incredible deal.

I recently stayed at this fantastic hotel and they exceeded my expectations. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, specially Usman at check in. The suite was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and all amenities were top-notch. The complimentary upgrade and chocolate made my birthday extra special. I highly recommend it for a great stay!

The Sutton Place Hotel was pre booked as part of our Canadian trip and the final stop after the Rocky Mountaineer Train journey. We only had 3 nights here and found the hotel in a very convenient place, the room we had was huge, with a separate lounge area, one of the biggest tvs I've ever seen (not that we used it) a fully fitted kitchen and even a balcony! However, if you had the aircon running as the unit was on the balcony, it was very noisy outside! I'm guessing this hotel is quite expensive but as it was in our package I've no idea what it costs to stay, although the kitchen had Miele appliances the finish wasn't great, you wouldn't accept it in your own home! And the bathroom wasn't the best, the bath was dirty when we arrived amongst a couple of other bits! However, compared to some places we've stayed, this was amazing! We had breakfast included, which was a pretty good buffet. however each morning we would hand over our voucher and then be seated, once we had finished the meal we were then presented with a bill for the breakfast and had to explain that we had already handed over our voucher! Tis a bit embarrassing really! The concierge was really helpful as my partner needed a dentist, and even tho it was a Saturday morning, he had an appointment sorted very quickly with a dentist that was only a 10min walk away. Overall, I was impressed with the hotel, but the attention to detail may need to be looked at!

The check in process was slow and room not ready by 4pm. Had to wait again in line to get our room, concierge had our bag and that took way too long for them to get for us. The room is dirty like stains in furniture for example. The pool area was a complete let down. Very dirty, hair all over the floor around the pool the hot tub water looks filthy and green, no bathroom or anywhere to change. Lots of broken tiles.

We got to our room around 3pm and it was freezing. We put up the temperature and waited a while and it didn't get warmer. We left and came back hours later and it was still freezing. We called down and someone came up to fix it. It wasn't until 9:30pm that our room was finally warm. We didn't get an apology or anything regarding this. Honestly, when people come to your hotel it's usually to get away from problems like this. And if your room isn't warm we should be compensated somehow. Why not offer free drinks at the bar or comp the parking? Speaking of parking, we followed ALL the instructions and came down to a $100 parking ticket on our windshield. When we asked the front desk for proof that it would be taken care of they wouldn't give us anything. Did not leave a good impression on us at all.

This is a very nice place to stay but the sofa bed was terrible. The reason I write this is so others are aware of the uncomfortable sofa bed. The other beds are super comfortable. My adult son had difficulty sleeping on the sofa bed. It was very hard foam that was not long enough for him to fit on. If you're not sleeping on the sofa bed I'm sure you'd have a lovely stay here.

I haven't stayed at the Sutton in a few years and was very pleasantly surprised to see many upgrades this time around! The rooms were clean to perfection, service was excellent and the food at the Boulevard was exceptional. A couple of minor quirks which are not a major issue, but will mention so it can be remedied for the future. Ordering room service was quite the chore. Thomas from guest services kindly tracked them down but that was a frustrating. There was also the wake up call which never came that front desk attributed to a power outage. Luckily, I had a second alarm set on my phone! Beyond those small quibbles, I did enjoy my 2 day stay and will certainly return when in BC for another business trip.
