There are a few things that made my stay like a nightmare. 1. Elevator nightmare Only the limited number of elevators were working - literally we had to pass 6 elevators on average to go up and down which meant everything for us. Without taking an elevator, there was literally nothing we were able to do from the 17th floor, and that includes swimming, going outside, going to the lobby, going for breakfast, everything. And we had to spend over 15 minutes just waiting for an elevator that we could finally squeeze into - it was an absolute nightmare. 2. Used skin lotion!! One of our skin lotion bottles was literally a bottle someone else was using and abandoned but placed back on the shelf of our washroom. We were all freaked out. The bottle was half empty and already opened. We took a photo of this bottle with Spa Utopia logo. It was absolutely disgusting. 3. A piece of stable on the floor We found a piece of stable on the floor. Our kids were walking with their barefoot in our room and we just feel lucky to have found it in advance. We also took a photo of this staple. It definitely could have injured one of us. Overall, it was so disappointing and comparatively much worse than our experience from nearby hotels that we stayed over the last 2 years that includes Fairmont Pacific Rim and Westin. I never want to come back to this hotel and will never refer anyone to use this hotel.…
My husband and I really enjoyed staying in Pan Pacific downtown hotel. The hotel was very clean and their staff is very helpful. We were upgraded to the 22nd floor with a harbour view. Our room was beautiful and spacious and our bed was very comfortable. We spent some time in the pool, that is on the 8th floor and the pool and the hot tub were great. I would highly recommend this hotel. We had a wonderful time staying there, so we will be back.
Chic hotel in a prime location with very friendly staff. The rooms with seaview offer a magnificent view of Vancouver Bay and are very comfortably furnished. The hotel pool is not huge, but also offers a great view and is just right for splashing around for children and relaxing for adults. The breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant is terrific and highly recommended. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. For children up to 12 years of age, there is an extra menu with adapted prices. I would book the hotel again just because of the magnificent view and the super-central location. It is worth the price.
Previous stays (pre-Covid) were great… not so much this time. i) Rates are too high for rooms that need renovation. ii) Room smelled like a former smoking room. iii) Lots of empty rooms… no automatic or discounted upgrades possible at check-in like other hotels. iv) We asked if a cup of distilled water was available for medical equipment (CPAP). Being downtown waterfront is not exactly a convenient location for hotel guests coming from airport to pick up distilled water (it is usually only available at pharmacies), and liquids cannot be brought from home when flying. We were forced to purchase a gallon of distilled water for $32.00 when I needed only about 6 ounces. Why would any hotel guest require a full gallon of distilled water??? I regularly purchase the same size jug for less than $4.00 at any local pharmacy. This is a disgusting level of mark-up on an item needed for medical reasons - the hotel should be ashamed. v) I booked a room rate that included the breakfast buffet. Most of the food we had was warm at best and much of it looked petrified as it had been sitting there so long. If I had paid full price for that breakfast, one of the employees would have been wearing it before I left. Even at a discount, they should have worn it anyway! vi) The pillows on the bed were garbage. They flattened out to about a 1” thickness when you put your head on them. vii) This is 2022 and the Pan Pacific is still charging for internet service. Again… disgusting. viii) The room we were assigned was an adjoining room. The family next door had small kids that screamed like banshees at night and again in the morning. I cannot imagine staying at this hotel again. Next time it will be one of the Fairmonts!…
This is the second time this month that we’re staying at this hotel(beginning and end of ouR road-trip). The location is perfect. The rooms and beds are nice(little bit outdated). The first time we stayed for three nights. There was no housekeeping (lack of personnel)……So no towels change, no beds made etc….but we paid the full monty! Now we came back for one night. The weather became really sunny at 15:00 hrs and we went for a swim. The swimming area was fully packed but the bar was closed. I’ve called the reception and got the answer that because of the weather in the morning the bar stays closed…..absurd! Paying so much for so little service is ridiculous……
I would expect better service from a 5 star hotel, including higher level of amenitie, especially for the price. Seems the hotel is banking on cruise tourists, which we weren't. I am no longer impressed by hotels claiming they are not providing housekeeper because of covid. A simple emptying of trask and replenishment of coffee would have been nice without having to call down. And the promise of housekeeping on one day to find that in fact there was no housekeeping scheduled. In addition, and I know this is trivial but serious, upgrade your toilet paper and don't tell me it is environmentally friendly because that brand is not. I will not stay at another Pan Pacific since can't guarantee that this is not standard at this chain.
This was not a "5 star hotel" experience in any way, shape or form. The hotel's aggressive marketing to cruise-goers (Disney, Norwegian, etc.) and lax enforcement of any limits on the number of people per room, have turned the Pan Pacific Vancouver into a hotel for cruise-goers that pack themselves into the rooms with well over 4 people in a room and make it over-crowded. We had to wait at the elevators for 10-20 minutes on average as the elevators were not built for this capacity. The pool was always over-crowded (and thus un-usable for laps) at all hours. All the public spaces were over-crowded. The service people try to be courteous to the guests, but since there is such a horde of guests, it tries the patience of the service team. This property has become a stain on the brand name of Pan Pacific for sure. It is nothing like the Pan Pacific in Seattle or other cities. On top of this, the property has become a bit dated and worn overall. I would not recommend this place to anyone unless they were a veteran Disney cruiser looking for convenience of easily getting on their cruise from the cruise facility in the building. Given the situation, the room rates are a complete rip-off. Avoid at all costs unless you are a cruise-goer looking for this type of experience.…
Absolutely beautiful hotel, with stunning views overlooking the port. It was very quiet and clean. Its location was perfect for walking in Vancouver and it was definitely worth the $$ paid. I would definitely rate this a 5 star we had no issues from the minute we arrived the bell services took our luggage and we went to lobby got our rooms and within seconds of getting to our room our luggage was there. My only suggestion for those staying it is costly for breakfast in hotel you might not want to have it there. Especially if you are not a big breakfast person.
The location is perfect for getting around Vancouver prior to boarding ship for Alaskan cruise. Expensive, but worth the $$ not to need transportation to other places. Plus, we got the bonus of having Comic-Con to see and enjoy. Highly recommend for pre-cruise Holland American Line (HAL).
So many reasons it was inadequate for the price. The "cold" water from the tap was almost always hot, no matter how long you ran it. The folks at the front desk got pretty much everything wrong, often more than once. They would say "I'll take care of it" and then they wouldn't. It took three times to modify the reservation (I called the day before arriving, then checked when checked in, then checked middle of stay), the first two times they said they had done it, but they hadn't. The hot tub on the rooftop was very low on water and luke warm, I called and they said they'd take care of it; later they sent someone to our room instead.(?) When we checked in, they said they would only make up our room every third day, we said ok. Day 4, they still hadn't made up our room, we went to the front desk, they said we needed to make a request for them to do it on day 3 (they didn't say a word about that), and could only do it now on day 6! I explained that was unacceptable, so they agreed to do it on day 5(!). Later on day 4, someone left 12 towels, 12 shampoos etc. (12 of everything) in a big bag in our room while we were gone.(?) Numerous other things that were just kind of weird (stand at reception, there are two or three of them and they ignore your for a couple minutes...) but no big deal. I know people are short handed, but dang! Regular price is $600 a night! The room was fine, bed was comfortable (although the mattress pad was so off kilter it was uncomfortable the first night, fixed it ourselves the next day), A/C worked well, shower was fine. Just the communication and service was awful. And the design of the building itself, including the elevators, was weird. All the guests we shared the elevators with agreed and remarked on it. It takes two elevators, and leaving the building into the underground parking garage, to get to the fitness center. Reception is on the third floor, takes a bit to figure it out when you walk in. Sometimes you have to use your room key to push a button, sometimes you don't. Room service stops shockingly early, and is REALLY expensive. Oh, and we weren't allowed into the top floor restaurant (incredible view, I went in anyway for a couple minutes), only the high rollers. Save your money.…
