It's a JW Marriott but it doesn't feel like it. It's new and pretty but it lacks the luxury that JW Marriotts are known for. It's a barren hotel, very corporate. The suites have ugly and uncomfortable couches, and the view from the rooms are definitely not that great. Avoid this hotel and avoid this city especially if it's raining, there's nothing to do here. This is a one night only hotel, not a long stay vacation base.
I attended a retreat here February 2019. The staff were amazing. We were a very larg group of about 900 people. Breakfast and lunch were served to us. The meals were buffet style with many satisfying choices for all palates. Service included two break for tea/coffee. The place was set up to seamlessly meet all our needs. Staff were polite and happy to cater to our every need. I was truly impressed at the organization and the positive attitude of the staff. It all contributed to a wonderful experience. Did I mention that every last bit of the food was really good and very well prepared and presented.
Great views from the comfortably sized rooms, delicious room service options, comfortable beds and great service; all in an ideal location. Great dining options on site and walking distance to everything. Will stay here again!
Stayed at the conference hotel as it was convenient. Wish I could have stayed more than two nights! Room was spectacular! Concierge lounge service and food were best I have ever experienced and the conference was wonderful! From set up to flow to food. Start to finish.
My husband arranged a night at the JW Marriott for our 9yr anniversary. There was a promotion through Stay Vancouver where on arrival at your hotel you’d be presented with a Visa gift card of 125$ which we could take or use to pay for the room. The person checking us in asked which we would prefer. We chose to apply it to the room directly. The room: 1. There were stains along the carpet in front of the window. 2. There was a food smear along the window sill. 3. The cups in the bathroom were on coasters that were warped, not new coasters, but ones that looked as though they’d been used and gotten wet and then dried again. 4. We’d reserved the room for two people however there was only 1 bathrobe. 5. There were 2 snack items missing from the minibar food selections. Immediately we called the front desk to advise them that 2 items were missing from the snacks, so they wouldn’t think it was us, and we requested an additional robe. We used the roof top hot tub, which was not that hot, or clean. There was a bandaid. When checking out we were told that we didn’t have to wait in line we could just go home. So we did thinking everything would be fine. Everything was not fine. They charged us for the 2 snacks despite the phone call. They didn’t even apply the Visa card promotional discount. We called the hotel to let them know what had happened and the lady that answered the phone was so rude, and forcefully told us three times, insisting that we had taken the Visa card on arrival and not applied it to the room. We told her that she could check the cameras, we did not take the card. It was supposed to be applied directly. We never took the card. Finally she agreed to look into it and call us back. Long story short, they refunded the minibar snacks and applied the Visa card promo discount. But it sure took a lot of work on our end to chase everything down. Overall we were not impressed and it was not a “happy anniversary” we totally expected more from this hotel and were thoroughly disappointed from cleanliness to customer service. It really soured what was supposed to be a special occasion.…
