    Having stayed at The Shangri La Vancouver multiple times I must say each stay is more and more enjoyable. Had the pleasure of meeting The Resident GM Kate again and was great to touch base with her. The room quality and overall product that you are paying for is excellent. Breakfast at Carlino every morning is a treat. Quality of food served is excellent. Every staff member I encountered during my Stay was professional and sincere. You really are treated extremely well and like a valued guest when you stay at The Shangri La Vancouver. Thanks to all I encountered during my stay, you all work as a great team and it shows.

    A fabulous low key city break
    Our first get away since COVID and we chose to stay at The Shangri-La Vancouver. The travel from the US was quick and we arrived to a very easy check in. The hotel felt very safe and secure, with health precautions in all public spaces. They asked that you wear masks in all public areas, and only three people to an elevator. Room service requests for mini bar or housekeeping was via a simple chat menu, easier than phoning down. We enjoyed an upgrade to a junior suite and had a very comfortable space. The only criticism was the live music during weekend breakfast. It was quite loud if you were just expecting breakfast and not boozy brunch. The food was great at both breakfast - fabulous congee- and dinner. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay and we will look at coming back.

    Impressive
    Stayed in a king executive suite at this Shangri La for a few nights recently. It is an impressive hotel and staff are all helpful and efficient. The building is very iconic, it is in a great location in downtown, and the communal areas are modern and graceful. The hotel seems very clean and well maintained. The room itself was spacious enough and had a large marble bathroom with all amenities you could wish for plus a fresh flower on the counter which I liked. The new Carlino restaurant and bar is hit and miss. I ordered a cocktail which was poor. The atmosphere on a weekday evening was lacking (and certainly nothing like the buzz of equivalent hotels like the Fairmont Pacific Rim which had a much younger and more fashionable crowd). Dinner at Carlino was fine but not remarkable. Breakfast which was included in the room rate was dull and too restrictive - it reminded me of an airline meal and you have little choice over the menu how it is served and how much etc. The gym is nice and the small outdoor pool and hot tub but if there are people in there it’s a bit uncomfortable so you have to wait and hope for a quiet time. The spa changing rooms are a let down and the sauna smells bad. It is unfortunate they removed the lobby bar and replaced it with a Rolex boutique. Because the reception is in the basement and the concierge and street entrance is one level up, there is no social heart of the hotel and it lacks some warmth. The hotel itself is great but it is not a ‘destination’ which I feels is a missed opportunity. Having said this it is the best Shangri La I have stayed in (and much exceeds Shangri La at the Shard in London). I would recommend and will return.

Our stay began with a warm welcome from the desk clerk. Our room was not ready yet, so she made sure our luggage was stored safely and notified us when our room was available. Our room was beautifully appointed with a gorgeous view and everything we might possibly need during our stay. Maid service was outstanding. She checked often to be sure we had everything we needed and what time our room would be available each morning for cleaning to fit our Laver Cup schedule. Breakfast each morning was delicious, and the hostess was very friendly and welcoming. Tennis Tours hosted a welcome dinner on 9/20 at the CinCin Ristorante. On 9/21 we attended the practice session at Roger’s Arena and ate “dinner” at the Arena. On 9/22 we again had “dinner” at Rogers Arena. Because the breakfast menu was so delicious at the Carlino Restaurant, we decided to enjoy their dinner menu. We provided our Hotel Room Number to the hostess and were seated. Our waiter was Alec who took our order for two Rigatoni Ragu. After eating and placing our napkins on the table as a sign that we were finished with our meal, we waited for Alec to return with our bill. We were meeting friends and after waiting 10 minutes for Alec to return, we left the Restaurant, knowing that we had provided our Hotel Room Number to the hostess, so the Carlino staff would know we were hotel guests and would be charged for our meal. The next evening 9/24, we returned to the Carlino and again were seated and served by our charming waitress Holly. Again we ordered Rigatoni Ragu. While waiting for our food, we noticed Alec going to the hostess, to Holly and to any staff he could corner while looking directly at us as he spoke with them. After our meal, a gentleman we assumed was Carlino’s manager, approached our table and said that we had left the night before without signing our meal receipt and would it be OK to combine both nights’ meals on one ticket. Of course, we agreed and expressed our dismay about the way Alec had handled the “situation.” All Alec needed to do was come to our table, mention that he had been our waiter the night before, and ask us to sign a dinner receipt for that meal. And yet, he made us feel that we had tried to “steal” our previous night’s meal. Perhaps, Alec judged us by the tennis clothes we were wearing and assumed we couldn’t pay our bill. He embarrassed us by his poor handling of an insignificant misunderstanding. The courteous desk clerk made the checkout process easy.

Stayed at the SLV for 3 nights. The lobby and entrances are unassuming, but elegant and the service is welcoming (of note, if you order an uber, it will pick you up in the lower level lobby). The public spaces are cozy, but elegant and the room (1br suite) was large with great views. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was expansive and the tub was excellent. The toiletries were great and the ability to control the shades with a switch was a really nice touch. The service is uniformly excellent. The late night menu is wanting and we ordered a very expensive grilled cheese that came with Pringles. The manager on duty apologized to my wife about the quality of the late night menu and more than made up for it. So while the late night menu was not great, the service recovery was awesome. The furniture in the room is showing a bit of wear and tear. Location is great, close to the water and stores. Overall a very nice stay and I think worth the value.

One of the worst establishments I’ve had the pleasure of staying in. The staff insults your intelligence by notifying you that you’ve received and upgrade (from a King room) to a twin room then tell you they have no inventory to change. In my opinion, if they do this, you should chargeback for failure to deliver service. I understand the brand appeal but you are much better staying at any Fairmont, Four Seasons, Hyatt or JW Marriott and as I am writing this I would say Courtyard is better. Rooms do not seem clean and service is dismal. Would stay away at all costs.

All staff are friendly making you feel relaxed like rerun home. Swimming pool is small but amazing and you must try the jacuzzi, this is the best for relaxation. The scent of the hotel extremely good for me, I'm going to purchase their candle and diffuser to use at office to let me relax when I'm working.

the staff is so hospitable, pleasant, helpful you feel catered to and special. they always have a warm smile and make you feel at home. this is across the board from the gentlemen at check in to the restaurant staff that served us breakfast every day for 3 days, to the concierge staff who helped us maneuver vancouver and the surroundings. we have travelled to all continents and multiple countries and this is the best hotel we have stayed in ever - from the staff to the clean and spacious rooms to the delicious breakfasts

They have the best staff, especially vanna who works at carlino. Rooms are clean, everyone we met was attentive and warm. Great experience. We booked with Amex FHR and got a 3 catergory upgrade, late check out, and $100 USD property credit and delicious free breakfast every morning at carlino, which definitely made up for the cancelled concert we came here for.

My husband and I visited Vancouver, BC for the first time since the pandemic. The city was alive and thriving! In the middle of it all was the most wonderful hotel experience. From the time we pulled up at the valet entrance to the time we left, every staff member greeted us with genuine warmth. They made us feel welcome. They were polished, professional and genuine. None of the pretentiousness of some other 5* hotels. They have set a new standard. Service at the restaurant, pool, valet and concierge desk was always prompt, inviting, and yes, at the risk of sounding repetitive, they made us feel welcome. The room itself was beautifully appointed. Floor to ceiling windows with power drapes. A large, marble appointed bath and 2 sets of bathrobes: one terry, the other cotton. A pillow menu. Lighting touches which included nightstand under lighting, dimmable mirror in the bath, and a TV built into the mirror! It was high tech without feeling “too tech.” I wanted to remember the experience. I am the proud owner of their signature fragrance for the home. Now, when I walk in my front door, I am greeted by the scent of The Shangri-la. And I smile. Many thanks!

A true oasis in this fast paced city. Exceptional customer service. A few hiccups here and there, but the staff goes overboard to correct with graciousness and kindness. Would absolutely stay here again. Food was delicious and well prepared. Room was upscale, comfortable and serene.
