Shangri-La Vancouver is a lovely property in a great location. Like all Shangri-La properties, the service is exceptional and hotel very clean and stylish. Rooms are large with a sitting area and modern bathroom. Because the hotel has a fairly small footprint, there is little common spaces to congregate (lobby or bar area). The pool as well is quite small and seating limited. The gym is very nice and never crowded. Shangri-La Vancouver is a great option for a traveler that wants a clean, quiet luxurious space. It doesn't have the large elegant common spaces or bustle that many other Shangri-La properties have.

Hotel's Favorite
Had a one night stay as part of a Vancouver staycation. The experience was thoroughly exceptional. The service was impeccable from the warm towels at check in to the personal escort to the elevator and bottled water from valet upon check out, we had an amazing stay. There is a plaque in the understated hotel lobby that say s this is one of the worlds best hotels. Appreciated the personal welcome letter with fruit in the room. The hotel was very quiet, and while not overly opulent, it was modern and refined in a dignified way. I have travelled a lot around the world, and this ranks up at the top of my list of exceptional hotel experiences. The employees are a gem, they personify quality and customer care!

We are a family of six (2 adults and 4 teenagers) and were very much welcomed at the Shangri-La. The concierge and receptionists were accomodating to all our requests. Service was exceptional in this discrete hotel. The on-site bar was great atmosphere and the on-site restaurant served great food. The recommendations for restaurants nearby were topnotch.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. We were met after a long flight and were impressed straight away by the courteous, efficient service. The hotel was immaculate and every member of staff went out of their way to ensure excellent service. We had a deluxe room and loved the automatic curtains and in room coffee machine. The pool was refreshing although small and was a welcome addition to the hotel. We had breakfast in the restaurant which was well presented and we had a lovely waitress. We would definitely stay again on another trip to Vancouver.

The Mrs. and I love Vancouver, visiting 2 – 4 times a year, typically just staying at which ever 5 star / Amex Plat / Fine Hotels & Resorts property has the best rate (assuming it is someplace we haven’t stay before). On this occasion, it was the Shangri-La. On recent trips we have tried to have extended stays, 4 days or more. On this occasion we stayed 5 days. Additionally, I booked a special package, which included a shopping spree at Holt Renfrew (which, as it turns out, was WAAAAY out of our league, despite the fact that we were staying at a 5 star hotel for a week) as it was my wife’s birthday. The stay was fabulous. Just fabulous. Let’s get the “CONS” out of the way up front – be advised that the hotel is actually quite hard to find...no obvious signs, with the "lobby" for check-in actually being underground. We ended up driving around the block a couple times before we saw the entry (next to the Rolex boutique). Also, the Front Desk staff is young, and on occasion annoying. Not rude, not unprofessional…just…lacking in smoothness. Lacking in finesse. Meh, maybe it was just me. Lastly, I felt they were a bit...nitpicky? with charges. For example, we were charged for the treats and balloons they provided for my wife's birthday...at this price point I am used to those sorts of things be complimentary (as they have been on every other birthday celebration vacation in Vancouver). All that said... The Concierge staff? Friendly, resourceful, patient. Very patient…I pestered them every day for about a week before we ever even arrived as I tried to make things as special as I could for my wife’s birthday. Not once did I get vibe that my act was wearing thin with them…and once we arrived, they doubled down on being pleasant and professional. The housekeeping staff was great as well, doing a great job with the room and even providing a fantastic shine of my shoes every couple days. The property itself is lovely, just lovely. Beautiful artwork, along with other amazing touches throughout the hotel in the hallways and what have you. My very first impression of our upgraded room was it was a bit small, but I was off base; it just wasn’t as large as a couple of suites we had been upgraded to recently. Once we settled in it was more than find, with a nice seating area, a couple desks (which came in handy because when you work for yourself true vacation days are a very rare thing), and a large, luxurious bathroom. The restaurant in the hotel was perfectly fine, though no more than that. Breakfast room service however, presumably coming from the same restaurant, was great (and thanks to Amex Plat, complimentary…love you Amex Plat). Lastly, our ride in the hotel car – a brand new Mercedes S Class – glorious. All up, I would say we would gladly stay again at the Shangri-La. Small, boutique, exquisite property that very much felt “special”. In fact, I tell you, our favorite Vancouver hotel…the Rosewood Georgia…might have a bit of competition….

This hotel told me first that my credit card and debit card did not go through upon check-in, so I had to leave a cash deposit. After a few minutes I checked with my bank . I found out that the amount to pay for my stay was blocked in both my debit card and credit card. So I had the bank remove the block of the amount they reserved for my stay on my credit card. I also had to go down and retrieve my cash deposit. Bad service.

Stayed in a king executive suite at this Shangri La for a few nights recently. It is an impressive hotel and staff are all helpful and efficient. The building is very iconic, it is in a great location in downtown, and the communal areas are modern and graceful. The hotel seems very clean and well maintained. The room itself was spacious enough and had a large marble bathroom with all amenities you could wish for plus a fresh flower on the counter which I liked. The new Carlino restaurant and bar is hit and miss. I ordered a cocktail which was poor. The atmosphere on a weekday evening was lacking (and certainly nothing like the buzz of equivalent hotels like the Fairmont Pacific Rim which had a much younger and more fashionable crowd). Dinner at Carlino was fine but not remarkable. Breakfast which was included in the room rate was dull and too restrictive - it reminded me of an airline meal and you have little choice over the menu how it is served and how much etc. The gym is nice and the small outdoor pool and hot tub but if there are people in there it’s a bit uncomfortable so you have to wait and hope for a quiet time. The spa changing rooms are a let down and the sauna smells bad. It is unfortunate they removed the lobby bar and replaced it with a Rolex boutique. Because the reception is in the basement and the concierge and street entrance is one level up, there is no social heart of the hotel and it lacks some warmth. The hotel itself is great but it is not a ‘destination’ which I feels is a missed opportunity. Having said this it is the best Shangri La I have stayed in (and much exceeds Shangri La at the Shard in London). I would recommend and will return.

The Shangri-la Vancouver is the definition of “well-appointed.” We stayed here the end of April 2022 for two nights prior to an Alaskan cruise. Our first human interaction was over the phone a week before check-in with the concierge, Divyraj Rathore, who was very professional, friendly, and thorough in helping us explore options for transportation to the hotel from YVR. When we finally arrived at the hotel a week later for our booking, he happened to be on duty and recalled speaking with me and made my husband and I feel very welcomed. He was very attentive and answered a lot of the questions we had about sightseeing and getting around the city. As we left to go to our room, he asked if we would like bottled water. We said yes and he pushed a button and within seconds someone emerged from a room and handed us both a bottle of water. Our room was gorgeous. We stayed in a deluxe king balcony room with floor to ceiling windows as “walls,” allowing beautiful Vancouver to be seen from all angles of our room. Everything a traveler might need but perhaps forgotten to pack is provided in the room from toothbrushes to toothpaste, as well as comfy robes and slippers. The large soaking bath tub was luxurious and we loved being able to open the balcony door in the bathroom as well as the living room area, letting in the fresh, crisp Vancouver air. The room and property as a whole were meticulously clean and the location can’t be beat. It’s around 12 blocks from the Canada Place waterfront cruise terminal and about five blocks from the skyway tube station. The hotel is surrounded by a plethora of coffee shops, award-winning restaurants, and luxury shopping. The only detriment we experienced was room service breakfast. The eggs and bacon as well as parfait were delicious, but our waffle tasted like it was a few days old. We don’t know if someone took it out of the freezer, put it on a plate, and forgot to cook it or what, but it was so dense and stale it was inedible. As my husband said, “This is a perfect hotel - unless you like waffles.” 😂Other than that, it was a wonderful stay and this hotel will definitely be our first choice when returning to Vancouver or traveling to other cities with a Shangri-La property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

I am very pleased to hear you enjoyed the spacious guest rooms, with floor-to-ceiling windows, custom Stearns & Foster mattresses, personal Nespresso machine, L'Occitane bathroom amenities. Please note that I will pass along your comments to Carlino restaurant team who also value guest feedback. We hope to welcome you back to Shangri-La Vancouver again soon! Convenient downtown location and set in the heart of the city is the Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver strategically positioned for sightseeing, shopping and restauranteering. This impressive 62 storey landmark building with a glass and steel facade, poses a daunting figure as BC's tallest sky-scrapper (seems to touch the sky). Signature facilities include Chi, the splendid Spa of the Shangri-La, a dramatic lobby, distinguished dining experiences, lavish services incorporating state-of-the-art technology, comprehensive event space and an extensive business center. Service is exceptional, no doubt motivated by a staff clad in Asian contrived embroidered dark robes. I was delighted with my Executive Balcony King Room featuring modern decor with Asian swayed details in 500 sq. ft. of space. The color palette was brown and beige. the millwork was utterly amazing, ported a balcony with floor to ceiling windows to portray vibrant views of Vancouver. The room was outfitted with exemplary high tech appliances like the bedside controls for lights and drapery. I especially liked the gorgeous, full sized executive writing desk so I could do my work in luxury. The bath was marble-clad, with walk-in shower and separate deep soaking tub. There was a TV embedded in the bath mirror......so you could watch the news while taking a bath. Ah the Spa.....the Chi Spa at the Shangri-La draws it's inspiration from the traditional Chinese philosophy 'Chi' that governs well-being and personal vitality. This is the essential mantra of the Shangri-La Spa. The treatment suites have their own shower cubicle, bath, fireplace, relaxation and vanity areas.......and for a play on words, this spa is a spa within a spa. Couples can escape to a tranquil oasis with the Couples Retreat which embraces a romantic vibe. The Spa features a selection of treatments inspired by the natural beauty of BC. Sense of Place treatments harness the power of wild seaweed as an anti-aging catalyst while Sense of Adventure treatments utilize signature massages from the likes of Thailand, India and other corners of the world. The Chi Spa also features a selection of Wellness Journey's which provide a combination of treatments designed to create a complete spa experience. I was going to engage in the signature Wellness Journey that utilizes the anti-aging features of seaweed, but I chickened out and opted for my 'go to' massage therapy. I felt revived afterwards, and ready to take on whatever Vancouver could throw at me. As a complement to the Chi Spa, is a lounging pool or if you want to pump up your heart, a complete fitness center with high-tech machinery or stretch out those muscles with yoga or pilates classes. Carlino's is the highlight restaurant of the Shangri-La. It operates as a 'from scratch' kitchen with an adventurous Northern Italian menu. As I flew over the menu, my appetite zeroed in on the Venison Credo (fermented chili and golden yolk) which I thought was great especially how the ingredients were in concert with each other, Francobolli, those pretty little ravioli's filled with roasted game....so delicious and Tiramisu, a sweet way to finish a solid meal. If you want to enjoy the subtleties of upper-crust accommodations and top-notch amenities....then try the...... Shangri-La Vancouver........A Downtown Lodging Gem.
