A comfortable hotel in a big town. Our room overlooked the train line but the rooms are not well sound-proofed. The trains are long - very long! Well over a mile long so they take a long time to pass by. As soon as one has, not much later, another. So, not our best nights sleep. However the rooms were comfortable. Moxies restaurant was nice even though they messed up our booking. We wanted a booth and ended up at a less comfortable table. Only one night here after a 5 hour drive from Lake Louise. Never mind, we had a 7 hour drive when we left here... Just as well there is some nice scenery when you get back to the Rockies. A slightly bland hotel. With a better room, our experience would, I am sure, been better.

We stayed here during our Rocky Mountaineer trip. We were really pleased with the hotel as the room was really big. We arrived fairly late so didn’t see much of Kamloops but ate in the restaurant & then watched the hockey game in the bar. There were plenty of staff when we arrived handing out nibbles & we were given our room cards on the train so could go straight to rooms, luggage was also in the room so it was really well set up. We had read some poor reviews about Rocky mountaineer Kamloops hotels so we were pleasantly surprised as everything was easy & ran smoothly. Couldn’t comment for a long stay in Kamloops but an excellent stopover hotel from the train.

Stayed several nights for work. Convenient for sports or concerts at the Sandman Centre across the street. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean, spacious. But noisy hotel. Room doors slam closed, staff run loud vacuums in the hall in the morning and if housekeeping staff is cleaning room next door or above, you hear it. While other reviewers have complained about trains, what was intrusive was the constant blaring of thumpy music from the attached Shark Club's external speakers out over Lorne Street even when the club was closed - incredibly started up at 5 a.m., and again at 7 a.m. on a Sunday morning. If you are going to stay here and want to sleep, ask for a room both on the river/park side to shield you somewhat from train noise, and as far away from the Shark Club as you can get. Bring earplugs or noise cancelling headphones. Sliding closet door and a dresser drawer malfunctioned. Room card scanners in elevators not operational. View of park and river obscured by filthy window. Pull-out couch had seen better days.

Stayed here two nights early July on a business trip. Initial observations, clean hotel, friendly staff, nice room. Upon further observation, bottom sheet had stains, curtains had grease stains, sliding door had two big splotches of big poop on it. After the first night, I put out the sign to replenish amenities. I was in my room about 1pm before my business meeting resumed on first floor, when I returned after 4pm, my door was left open about 2 inches by housekeeping all afternoon. I called the front desk and I’m not sure they knew what to do or say to me. I explained that I was a woman travelling alone and had my work laptop in the room and valuable personal items. Later someone else called me and apologized but the initial damage was done to how that first call went. Also housekeeping took my soap by sink and didn’t replenish (good thing I had extra in my suitcase as I didn’t want to call down again) also in the morning I noticed they didn’t give me coffee creamers. The trains shake the hotel when they go by and are quite noisy. White noise machine in room helps but the tracks are right there. Not worth $300 something dollars a night. This was my first stay at a sandman in years. I won’t be back.

Stayed the night as part of the Rocky Mountaineer Train experience. The hotel is situated in a good location allowing you to walk along the rivers edge and also close to a good selection of restaurants. Room was nice with a comfortable bed but dimly lit and unfortunately the noise of the trains could be heard with the shunting yard so close.

So I have not stayed in kamloops in some time and probably pre-Covid when I staged a this hotel but I am quite surprised how badly this hotel has gone down hill and the post Covid cleaning seems to have disappeared! I’m less worried about having caught Covid here than what else I may have been exposed to
There is dirt, dust and lint everywhere. The bathroom light doesn’t work, the window is so filthy you can not see out of it. There was I I flushed toilet paper in the toilet when I got into the room and a bizarre damp smell that has dissipated over the stay as I have left the sliding door open.
The marks and dents around the place are rampant. The remote didn’t work and actually had no cover on the back and when I brought it up I was given a not that I have to make sure the batteries were all the way in.
In the stairs hallway vs using the elevator had a stack of room service dishes with mold growing and were present on check in And still there 3 days later. And it smells as left out food for longer than three days is know to have. Wallpaper is peeling in the room. And the tv has gross finger prints all over it.
When opened this place was off the hook but over time I started seeing the effects of time and wear that caused me to go to the delta hotel kamloops. And due to that being booked I thought I would come back and see. Very disappointing and the shark club seems to have dropped its standards even more than one could imagine.
I expected more based on the rate and the previous quality they once had here. I’ll never understand why managers and owners of hotels do a regular walk through, stay on the rooms to see what it’s like and what needs to be fixed. Not sure if the pictures do it justice but I rarely complain or bring up issues but thought I would share. Sad that Rocky Mountain Trains use this place as it’s not a great representation of Kamloops or Canada

This hotel is nicely situated in downtown Kamloops however it is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I am away 120 nights a year for business travel and frequent Kamloops often. My regular choice in hotels were unavailable so I decided to try it here again. Nothing has changed since my previous stays, and several managers later. Poor service to get room cleaning and deficiencies repaired. Staff all always “sorry “ but no action taken. Couldn’t even get a room bill on leaving because front desk person was unable? Unbelievable! Stay away from this property until owners and managers get accountable

This hotel was allocated to us on an overnight stay in Kamloops whilst travelling on the Rocky Mountaineer. It was dated and desperately needs a refurb. Our balcony door wouldn’t lock and it felt like the hotel in The Shining! It is right next to the train line so if you’re a light sleeper, bring a good book as freight trains run all night! Comfy bed is the only positive thing to say about this hotel.

We arrived with a group and there was another group arriving as well. I think the staff was totally overwhelmed. After 1 /12 hours we still had not received our luggage so I went downstairs to get it myself and I found four porters standing around in a sea of luggage. When I told them my room # they found my luggage immediately and then told me they could deliver it in 30-40 minutes more. I told them I would take it myself and they didn't offer to help me. Other people came down to get their luggage, too. The porters just seemed to be lost. Additionally, the safe in our room was broken and the bathroom sink was clogged. We called downstairs and they said they'd send someone up, but after an hour and a half we wanted to go to bed so we told them not to bother, and then someone showed up shortly afterwards. Everyone seemed friendly, just not prepared for groups. It is a very large hotel complex and on the stop for the Rocky Mountaineer so they should be used to groups. The room itself was okay, clean but musty and the couch sunk low. It had a large kitchen, a living area, a bedroom and a bathroom so the design was good and it may have been better in the past.

Good Day Terris, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review, your feedback is greatly appreciated. We understand that your luggage should have been in your room prior to your arrival. As I'm sure you do know that while travelling on the Rocky Mountaineer your luggage is transported separately on a large truck. Unfortunately, there was an accident on the highway which delayed the truck. The luggage arrived after the train which isn't usually the case, and our team was working tirelessly to deliver all of the bags to every room. Apologies for the delay. Kind regards, Pamela S. Front Office Manager.

Upon deciding to get away after a busy work season alone, I chose my usual hotel in Kamloops. This used to me my favorite hotel in Kamloops and unfortunately it has been let go. There must be new management. From the broken tiles upon entry, missing carpet coming off the elevator, more broken tiles in the elevator, and electronics ripped out and holes left in the walls throughout the hotel. Check in was fine, but when I got to my room I noticed the fridge did not seem cold. I called the front desk and they asked me to check the settings of the fridge, I asked how and he said "I have no idea". They then sent a maintenance man and he said the fridge was fine for drinks. I said, "But I have food" and he just said it's fine and left. I went to Moxies for dinner and it was horribly busy and loud. As a single person they sat me at the bar, it was quite annoying. Food wasn't too good either and expensive bill. I was trying to have a peaceful vacation away. I went back to the room and had just fallen asleep when the fire alarm went off. I had so much adrenaline running through my body. I was very disoriented and went down to the front desk to see what was going on. He just said it was smoke from the kitchen, and it was an error and did not seem too apologetic. This is not the hotel's fault but it was more the attitude from the front desk that was annoying. Now pumped with adrenaline I didn't fall asleep for another 2 hours. Going up the elevator there was a "shot gun" beer on the floor from probably the gaggles of hockey teens. Also, none of their electronic security panels worked to get into the pool or up to the floors in the elevator. Pool area was dirty. As a single woman travelling alone I did not feel safe or cared for. The room also was neglected - caulking was peeling in the tub and sink area, a missing bulb and a clogged drain. Overall, a huge disappointment.
