We made our way here for dinner. Unfortunately there was no food. We opted to have a drink before moving on. The choice was beer or beer. Staff was perfectly friendly but for future reference I would suggest to call ahead if you would like to have dinner here 😉 as diving is their specialty I can understand they only run the restaurant when they have guests. Pity for us 😢

Pirate theme, looks good, nice view with a good breeze. Food was average, very limited selection with ok prices. Staff smoke in the eating area, you must go to another area to eat. The dive boat is a pirate theme, looks good, but dose not serve well as a real dive boat. Entry and exit to water is less than desirable. PAID safety not followed. local diving possible, fees seem high. If you go to town you may not find your resort when returning at night if they forget to turn the sign on the highway on, like they did for us.

Found this place on my dive travels. It was newly opened and so everything was spick and span. Heard about it from another dive shop in Cebu. This resort has a pirate theme so prepare for the stocks, cannons and jolly roger's because this place has it all. The owner / dive instructor is a legend. Gold toothed pirate. And he really loves the sea! Diving there is amazing, really amazing. Just imagine your best dive and multiply it by ten. Great vis, sea is full of life. The most amazing Nudibranchs you will ever see. Oh and did I mention the bar? Go check it out!

We are a family with two sons which were 12 and 15 years old when we enjoyed the hostage of Richard and his crew. First we finished our PADI open water diver. Richard and his trainers are exceptionally patient and the way he teaches is very professional and at the same time makes lots of fun. The theory is done in the pirates fort with a view to the canons that protected us toward the unknown of the sea :-). In between we could enjoy in the hammock, listening to the Pirates songs or just go swimming. After we got our license Richard and his crew took us to the nearby island of Sumilon and beside sightseeing the shore of Cebu Island we did 3 dives in clear blue sea enjoying sea turtles, clown fish, little sharks and a lot more. Richard and also his dive trainers took care of my sons individually and we felt them always safe. It was an outstanding vacation and if you want to enjoy Philippines natural spirit together with learning or improving diving or just want to do diving in the huge diversity of the Philippine sea away from mass tourism then we can highly recommend to visit Richard the warm-hearted Pirate.

I know it is in a resort's best interest to make their guests feel welcome no matter what, but in Rich (Captain Rich) I truly feel like I made a friend. If you are fortunate enough to catch Richard with a little time to spare, you can feel comfortable talking to this dive instructor/philosopher/historian/political pundit. I dropped in for a scuba tune up dive which turned out I very much needed after five years. Richard helped me get over my clumsy efforts and then we talked a little about nitrogen theory and moved on to compare Canada with the USA to who killed Kennedy. The resort staff including his wife Mabel (Maybell) seemed very competent and obliging. Unfornately I only had time for one dive and the conditions weren't perfect, but Tropico has the equipment, boats and expertise to get you to the premium dive spots in the area.. Can't comment on the rooms. We didn't spend the night. Pirate theme is great but it does put everything on the dark side. The rock work is very impressive. You can tell Richard et al put a lot of effort into creating a very comfortable and functional dive resort. But what makes it worth the minimal effort visit is the people.
