Given it's location and almost fairy-tale external appearance, we were deeply disappointed with our 2 night stay here. Given that we'd pre-booked in February (for an August stay) and selected a king-size bed (as this normally delivers a similar sized room) we arrived to find ourselves at a tired, almost hostel-like tourist hotel with a cramped room at the back...

Dear A.P. We thank you for your review. Here at the Astoria Hotel we use reviews as useful tools to develop our business to better suit you, our customers. The Astoria Hotel is Jasper’s smallest hotel and has been family owned since the 1920’s. We are happy that you enjoyed the convenience of our location- which is in the center...

We stayed here two nights in July and enjoyed our stay overall. The hotel is in a great location near shops and restaurants, basically walking distance to most things in Jasper. The rooms are very small, the bathroom is very small, but that was okay considering the cheap price and the charm of the old hotel. When you're in the...

The location of the hotel is amazing! Right on the main strip of Jasper which is a fantastic place to visit if you are looking for a place to stay in the mountains. Everywhere is easy to get to and there is parking right across the street. The De'd Dog is attached right to the hotel as well as Papa...

Dear BunniWant, As always, at the Astoria Hotel we take every comment seriously and always appreciate feedback of any kind! We have addressed the fact that your room was not up to the standards that we operate as far as room cleanliness in the hotel. Our housekeeping team has been made aware of this fault that you experienced and are...

One star earned by the receptionist who was welcoming. Minus four stars earned by the very dated rather grotty room. The shower works but the area is so small that getting dried without putting a foot in the toilet pan is a risk not worth taking. The free room space with two single beds is a joke. If only they...

When the Astoria Hotel was built in 1925 the guest rooms did not have individual bath rooms. The bathrooms were added in the 1960s and consequently they are small but efficient with a fully tiled shower stall apposing the toilet. This made the guest room only big enough to accommodate two single beds or one double. We admit the rooms...

Like all the hotels in Jasper, this one is also expensive. However, we booked last minute and ended up with a room that they don't typically book online (for various reasons, mostly involving the fact that it is right over the kitchen). The hotel itself is in a great location! It's on the 2nd floor of a building, and there's...

Thank you for the kind words. It is very satisfying to hear from guests who appreciate our little old hotel and it's character and charm. The relatively high rates for accommodation in Jasper reflect the cost of operating a business in a remote National Park and the seasonality of demand for rooms. They are considerably less expensive in the 'off-season'....

The biggest joke of a hotel ever. Although the location is central, well located and the receptionist very welcoming and so so helpful, i would hasten to recommend this kip. Bedspreads very 1970 à la Loveboat. But clean linen and comfy (albeit tiny) beds. When questioned about the EXTORTIONATE rates we were told that this is a one horse town...

I think it is unfair to bash an entire community and resort destination, especially when the experience is for such a short period. Jasper is a beautiful place and has it's own individuality that distinguishes it from other fine resort destinations like Banff and Whistler. A traveller would need to spend some time in the National Park and the village...

Only about a block, maybe two, from the train station. Same distance to the shops, places to eat, information services, and more. Super friendly staff. Our room was small but laid out so well that it worked fine. Prices for lodging are high and high occupancy rates, in the town of Jasper, so we thought we were lucky to find...

If you don't have to pay for parking then I believe you could consider it to be 'FREE'. The hotel was built in 1925 and originally had a hitching post for horses in front. It is located in the middle of the village and does not have the space for guest parking on premises not unlike many older hotels with...

I booked this hotel as it was a very busy weekend in Jasper and there was very little else left. The room was very small, dark - and the wash basin was in the bedroom - not in the ensuite. Good location for Jasper town and the station. Good DIY laundry (but did not have wash powder when we were there). All bedrooms upstairs and no lift.
