Wapiti is one of the best campgrounds we went as a family. The sites are spacious and all have fire rings, the location is wonderful. It is not walking distance to the town of Jasper. We had many Elk Wapitis walking through the camp ground, which was amazing for the kids to see. Its located at Athabasca river with very... More

Jasper is great, we love coming to Jasper every year. Wapiti is a nice camp ground, it is always full so your best to reserve a site and pay the extra money to get a site when you arrive even during the week! The camp ground needs some maintenance it is starting to get run down, but overall it is... More

Had a great time camping here. The sound of the river was very relaxing. Showers were included with camping fees and they were very clean. Squirrels and caribou roamed freely through this campsite. Unsettled by the bear trap at the entrance but campsite was full so we felt that there was safety in numbers. We had a breathtaking view of... More

unless you have a truck don't go there, the pot holes are big , no privacy between the tent sites. It does have fire wood and hot showers but that's it . Not too far from town but go with another camp site or rent a cabin.

Big campground with clean bathrooms right next to the Athabasca River. There are some spots with more privacy as the trees are bigger. IF you want to make a fire, you have to purchase a fire permit and then you can burn as much wood from the pile as you like.

We stayed here two nights in a tent. I appreciated that there was warm water at the sink to clean your dishes with. The campground is just a little south of the town with a nice bike path that you could take to get to and from. The sound of the river drowns out the sound of the cars on... More

Great campground, free firewood with purchase of fire permit. Clean bathrooms and hot showers. Close to Jasper for morning coffee. Local to lots of hikes. 5 km to Sky Tram. Maligne Lake and Canyon close by. Lots of wildlife.

I visited Wapiti last week with a friend and was happy with my stay. It was easy to get to, very close to Jasper town (about 10 minute drive, max), and easy to get around to other sites. Like someone else mentioned, there isn't too much privacy as the campsites are close to each other but great value, nonetheless! The... More

We visited Wapiti Camp ground in the peak of the summer season. Wapiti is just a 5 minute drive from town with basic ground facilities including a drop site, showers (only 3 blocks though), toilets, free fire wood ($5 per night to use the fire pit at your camp site) and fresh water. The location is perfect but the privacy... More

Ended day 2 of a Jasper/Banff adventure with my girlfriend at Wapiti. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much, as my personal experience of large family campgrounds is that they are unkempt, loud, and packed tightly together. Wapiti proved to me that this doesn’t always need to be the case. We reserved a site on the far end of the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On the shore of the Athabasca River, Wapiti campground has nice private sites for tenting and electrical hook up spots for RVs. However, what makes Wapiti unique is that it operates year-round, offering 362 sites in the summer, and 93 winter camping spots with amenities like hot showers, electricity and fire rings. Wapiti is a great campsite for family outings at any time of year. It’s close to town for supply runs or rainy day movies, and in the winter campers often get first crack at the slopes and cross country trails (because to really appreciate a campfire, you have to use it to thaw your ski boots!) ... more   less
