I visited Wapiti last week with a friend and was happy with my stay. It was easy to get to, very close to Jasper town (about 10 minute drive, max), and easy to get around to other sites. Like someone else mentioned, there isn't too much privacy as the campsites are close to each other but great value, nonetheless! The... More

We visited Wapiti Camp ground in the peak of the summer season. Wapiti is just a 5 minute drive from town with basic ground facilities including a drop site, showers (only 3 blocks though), toilets, free fire wood ($5 per night to use the fire pit at your camp site) and fresh water. The location is perfect but the privacy... More

Ended day 2 of a Jasper/Banff adventure with my girlfriend at Wapiti. To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much, as my personal experience of large family campgrounds is that they are unkempt, loud, and packed tightly together. Wapiti proved to me that this doesn’t always need to be the case. We reserved a site on the far end of the... More

Nice quiet campground. Lacks some privacy between sites. Amenities are good. Hot water in the washrooms, convenient washing up station and shower building was clean with plenty of hot water. Site ff23 is right next to the bathrooms and people cut through your site consistently. Wouldn't recommend this site. Was thrilled to watch an elk feeding several times from my... More

Not much to report - the campgrounds were fairly standard. There was NO hot water in the bathrooms nor in the wash basin for dishes which made it a bit unpleasant for handwashing etc. There is a noise curfew for 11pm but a nearby truck/RV/generator was running throughout the night Fri-Mon which was a bit annoying as well. The campground... More

Despite the name, there are not a lot of Elk around. This campground is close to the town center and to Whistlers mountain which makes it convenient. However most of the sites are too close together. We booked a place facing the river, which was very nice. There are no fences between you and the drop to the river so... More

This was a great campground with an amazing view. It is dry camping only. There is a power option but it's a parking lot and not my cup of tea. There is a fantastic trail system that takes you right into Jasper. An hour walk on the easy trail with a stroller. They also have a narrow path for scenic... More

Clean, but below the standard at other campgrounds. Sites not well defined, wood not available, loud neighbors, showers to far away. Dog poop everywhere. The bathrooms are clean. Good location for a base camp to do other activities.

Our showers were slightly warm, staff was friendly and helpful, neighbours were non-existent. We stayed here for the may long weekend and it was a little cold but we made the best of it. It was a typical campground; nothing out of the ordinary, nothing really that would wow you. Our site was quite spacious - more than enough to... More

People who work at entrance gate friendly and helpful. We camped at A8 where there was a nearby wash room and toilets and also an outside wash basin with hot water for washing dished, etc. The shower bldg was a walking distance away. Campground located a bike ride or short vehicle ride to downtown Jasper. Camp spaces very close together.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On the shore of the Athabasca River, Wapiti campground has nice private sites for tenting and electrical hook up spots for RVs. However, what makes Wapiti unique is that it operates year-round, offering 362 sites in the summer, and 93 winter camping spots with amenities like hot showers, electricity and fire rings. Wapiti is a great campsite for family outings at any time of year. It’s close to town for supply runs or rainy day movies, and in the winter campers often get first crack at the slopes and cross country trails (because to really appreciate a campfire, you have to use it to thaw your ski boots!) ... more   less
