#3 of 21 Specialty lodging in Jasper
On the shore of the Athabasca River, Wapiti campground has nice private sites for tenting and electrical hook up spots for RVs. However, what makes Wapiti unique is that it operates year-round, offering 362 sites in the summer, and 93 winter camping spots with amenities like hot showers, electricity and fire rings. Wapiti is a great campsite for family outings at any time of year. It’s close to town for supply runs or rainy day movies, and in the winter campers often get first crack at the slopes and cross country trails (because to really appreciate a campfire, you have to use it to thaw your ski boots!)

Just spent a couple days here. Bathrooms were clean, sites were nice. Free firewood with burn permit seems a bit different, instead of just paying for wood. Great location. Nicely wooded area, not too close to neighbours

If you arrive is September you will be in the heart of the Elk mating season. lots of bugling. The river side campground is clean and well maintained. Jasper is the jewel of the Canadian Park system. And the Ice Field Parkway views are breath taking.

We stayed here for 2 nights in our RV, and with Whistler being closed for the season, this place was packed! I don't know what it's like during a regular season, but this time around reservations were a must! We booked our spot quite late and didn't have many options to choose from. We stayed in spot RR44, where we had no hookup. It was a very nice site however, but so very far from the entrance of the campgrounds. It was at least a 15 min walk to the showers, of which there were only a couple, and in need of an upgrade. I'd suggest to shower early in the evening or late in the morning because otherwise it gets very crowded. There is a firepit on site, but you need a fire permit to use it, which you can purchase at the front desk. After that you can take as much wood as you want, but it can't leave the campsite. The sanidump at the entrance is free or charge. It also would take a long time to walk to the town of Jasper, you'd have to drive here. There is however a very useful (RV) parking lot close to where you enter town, across the train tracks.

We stayed @Wapiti Campground for two nights during our stay in Jasper..It’s good for Rv park..We were lucky we got a spot available as it’s theThanksgiving long weekend .We parked close to the river and the kids park...It has a beautiful view of the river while you are doing your bone fire, quiet environment and it’s clean...All washrooms and showers are clean as well...They tidy up and clean it around 2;00 pm-5:00 I think..Anyways we love the campground and we will consider to come back again on our next trip...
