I have stayed there a few times before. Those visits were good. The breakfast was good. This time the price was higher by 20. Also no breakfast. I had stayed at the Best Western a few days ago. Price was 30 less and they had a great breakfast.

Thank you for your current review of our hotel and we sincerely apologize for the fact we cannot offer our complimentary buffet breakfast We appreciate your concerns regarding our rates as we are competitively priced in our marketplace. At this time all Buffets in the province of Alberta have been suspended due to Covid-19 and the implemented provincial government regulations. At the same time we have taken action on this and discounted our room rates to reflect this mandated policy. Once the provincial government allows buffets to again be served we will once again offer this in our rate. Sincerely, Jason H GM

1 elevator cannot go to 5th floor, button doesn't work.

Ordered complimentary breakfast and was barely able to touch it as had appointments. Were told we could not have a box to take the leftovers. Ridiculous. So 2 platefuls or perfectly good food went in the garbage.

Good morning Maddie, Firstly i would like to apologize for the shortfalls during your recent stay. I apologize for the delay in responding to you but i wanted to make sure i got the right facts from our restaurant before responding. Our elevators are serviced under contract from Otis Elevator. They work fine and the only reason i can figure why your elevator would not go to 5 is that a button may have been pressed in or stuck. Our elevators only have the ability to be locked from our service areas and banquets which neither are located on floor 5. Secondly in regards to your breakfast i have spoken directly with the manager. I am unsure the staff member who you had talked with but leftovers can be put in a to go box and taken rather than go to waste. Again we apologize for the shortfalls. Sincerely, Jason H GM

Entrance of hotel not welcoming, needs to be cleaned, lobby sort of empty, old, elevator dirty with some kind of weird smell, hallways to room outdated, old fashioned painted prison green. Room outdated, old carpet gross to bare feet, wore shoes when walking around in room. room smelled old, smelled like old cigarette smoke, ac conditioner making noise, shut it off so could sleep. Opened window. Room needs to be updated. White truck in parking lot alarm went off 11, 12 o'clock complained to front desk, told her someone riding a bike in the parking lot by truck, maybe setting off alarm and 1 o'clock went off again. Security car checked situation at this time. No alarms going off after this time.

Good afternoon, Firstly we are sorry to hear about our shortfall during your recent stay. 80% of our hotel interior has been renovated. Our non-renovated rooms we have discounted until that time we do upgrade. Unfortunately the last 2 years have been devastating to many business's with Covid-19 and the lockdowns, let alone the supply chain for products. In regards to the parking lot we do take vehicle info at check-in to avoid things such as car alarms and such. Unfortunately the vehicle was not in our system and was probably a patron of the Pub. Next time you are in Grande Prairie please feel free to reach out to us directly and experience one of our renovated rooms. I am sure you will be more than happy. Sincerely, Jason H GM

Rooms were exceptionally hot, the heating/ac system was not working to the point of waking up with headaches. They had just young staff at the desk
that were not able to deal with the complaints. Everyone was gone for the weekend. The problem had been ongoing all week and had not been fixed yet by the long weekend. Emails to the manager afterward did not even warrant a reply.

Stayed with hockey team or I would’ve left immediately. My first room: hair/dirt/fingernails (!!?) on the floor, mirrors smeared entirely as if wiped with a dirty cloth, headboard greasy, white crusty stuff on the bedside table and more hair/crusty stuff on the throw pillows. Plus the room reeked. Demanded a room change and my second room was not much better: hair/dirt on the floor, dirty towels, food under the bed, unmarked blue pill on the floor, dirty towels and more fingernails in the tray where the complimentary soap/shampoo is.
Overall, I could not believe how disgusting and dirty this hotel was. My Complaints were passed on to the manager who didn’t care enough to contact me. Front desk girl was sympathetic but could do nothing. I would’ve walked out immediately but was with a hickey team on a bus trip and had no way to do so. Our entire team was not happy with this hotel and we will not return.

Ok, I travel for business and I like to write and review. This is not my first time in Grande Prairie, so nobody will tell me this is OK.

I have to admit I thought it was a deal since I paid less than CA$110 but once I even approached the hotel I knew it was a mistake.

The outside ia dated, old and definitely not well kept.

The lobby was forgotten and the poor front desk is alone dealing with a line of 6 customers.

The service was the best part of the hotel but nothing above expected.

The hallways and common areas are way below the standard. I believe, maybe, it was a 3* hotel but I believe it is not one now.

The room is ok but is missing outlets to charge everything that now day we have, you know, like cell phones, tablets, laptops, etc. The wifi is below the standard.

You can't forget about a hotel, it must be renovated and maintained.

I would not recommend this hotel and I can't come back to it. I would never bring my wife here.

Thank you for your current review. Our Wifi provider is Telus Optik which has the highest speeds available. We apologize for any shortfall and have taken the time to work on both our maintenance and the renovations of our rooms. We have not totally renovated 70% of our 102 rooms for which i am sure you will be more than happy. Again we apologize for the shortcomings and look forward to your next stay in Grande Prairie Sincerely, GM

Terrible rooms. Waited three days for our room to be made up. The resturaunt in the lobby is horribly overpriced and small portions. The hotel looks like it's 40 years old and it shows. Exercise room is always closed and there is never anybody at the front desk as they are always outside smoking.

Thank you very much for your recent Trip Advisor reply. I am very sorry we did not meet your expectations. All of our rooms are cleaned daily for which we receive many compliments. All information on rooms is recorded daily on our Rooms Report. If you email me directly i will look into the exact cause of our shortfall on your behalf. In most cases, the only rooms not cleaned daily are due to a Do Not Disturb being placed on the door handle or in some cases a guest saying they did not need their room cleaned today. In some cases we have Crew Rooms whereby 2 people share the room. We have staff here from 730 am to appr 9pm(if required for night rooms) daily. Night rooms are generally cleaned beginning at 5 or 6pm until complete at which time housekeeping can either work in laundry or go home after checking with our desk staff first. Our restaurant is now leased out to a local Restaurateur, Major's Homestyle/Tractor Jack's, renown for home cooked meals. His new menu came out this week. Previous to this the menu has not changed in style or price since 2012. All items our competitively priced as there are many places for food in our marketplace and directly across the street. Our hotel is 30+ years old. Renovations are ongoing, whether it be replacing 102 rooms of beds and TV's, Optik TV, complimentary High Speed Internet to a complete revamp of our Restaurant and soon Lounge, to replacing things many people dont notice such as mechanical and windows that slide open for more air circulation. In the spring of 2015 we are completely renovating several floors of rooms once our case goods arrive and contractors are in place. As Grande Prairie is a very busy marketplace nothing can be changed overnight, it all takes time. Finally with our weekends previously our slowest occupancy periods we have been using minimal staff in our slow periods. Now that they are getting busier we are reviewing staffing levels to accommodate those needs. When our GSA(Guest Service Agent) is temporarily away from the desk a sign is put in place with a bell on the counter for service. Again we are reviewing our staff levels. I hope going forward you contact me directly to help change your view on your current stay at our hotel as we move into an exiting time of transition and renovations. Sincerely, Jason H General Manager

My wife and l had booked a 4 night stay at this hotel and were so disappointed the first night , we checked out the following day. We checked into our room and the temperature was well into the high 80's. We turned the heater completely off and still no change in the temp. The windows were of the type that could not be opened at all. We had no way of cooling the place down. We found a small fan in the closet and made that work for all it was worth. Still to no avail. went down to the front desk and told them of our problem and they gave us the impression that this was a common occurrence and never gave us an indication that they would do anything about it. We suffered through the night and in the morning the wife had a bleeding nose from all the dry heat. We checked out that morning. The food at the lounge was not good at all. The steak was like chewing on an indian rubber ball. The pizza also was of very low grade. The breakfast the next morning was complimentary and was actually very good. The only good thing about this stay, was leaving . If you need high temps and no airflow in your room ,then this is the place for you. We will not be back.

Thank you very much for your review of our hotel. I am very disappointed we did not meet or exceed your expectations. I have reviewed your stay thoroughly and am acting immediately upon the shortfalls you have brought to my attention. Upon review of your room, i noticed the Heater/AC Unit was set on a high level causing the room to be exceedingly warm. I then adjusted it to the cool side and left the room for a few hours to see if the room would cool. The unit was blowing cool air and the room fell to well below 70F. I then left the room vacant for the day only to inspect it before i went home. The room has remained cool. We pride ourselves on our food coming out of our Kitchen for both our outlets and banquet rooms. We currently have 2 Red sealed chefs on hand. Again the shortfall was unacceptable as well this has been brought to our Chef's attention. We have had many great reviews on our Home Style meals and address all short comings. I am currently reviewing our procedures for our new front desk associates as your room and meals should have been righted immediately. At the same time we have renovations scheduled for the spring to increase airflow to both rooms and public spaces. Please contact me directly at the hotel to give us a chance to win you back. I know we can change your opinion of our hotel. I look forward to your reply and hope to be of service to you in the near future.
