Detailed Reviews
The Matrix enabled my wife and our pet cat to have accomodations close to our old residence while we prepared our household goods to be shipped, and do a final cleaning of the apartment
Great quality room for the price point, with noteable COVID environment protocols.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. We would recommend the Matrix to anybody needing to stay near downtown Edmonton.

Stayed here while on a little Alberta road trip. What a find! European styled rooms but much larger than in Europe, premium toiletries, Illy coffee/espresso machine in the room, bathrobes, comfy beds, very quiet and located in a very walkable location. It was a short walk to the Legislature and the High Level bridge and then in the opposite direction to Jasper Avenue. On site covered parking is available at $25 per night. Complimentary breakfast was amazing. Buffet style and top quality. Loved the coffee machine to make your own cappuccino or espresso or Americano. It’s been a while since I felt this pampered at a hotel.

The Matrix always has been (and continues to be) my go-to hotel choice when I'm in downtown Edmonton. The rooms are always clean and "modern chic" which I like, the complimentary breakfast is the best I've experienced in Canada with eggs, sausage, bacon, pastries, potatoes, fresh fruit and yogurt, juice and excellent coffee. I always receive a warm welcome and feel like it's a home away from home.

I was overall impressed with the layout, appearance, location & available parking of the Hotel, but with one elevator out of service it made for looooong wait times. Massive communication breakdown also being an issue... not being notified upon booking of the lounge closure... very disappointing. We planned our weekend around having an onsite lounge, that was not available, and yet still charging delivery charge for room service, unacceptable. I was also very excited about the Wine tasting, again the inconvenience of the location and was hard to find as it was relocated due to renovations, again another disappointment. Rooms were not properly cleaned and dust was even laying on TV stand, and dirty straws on the floor. I do not think we will visit again.

Please accept my apologies regarding your recent experience at our Hotel. We are working hard to improve our Lounge and are on track to have it open by the end of the month. I apologize that this was inconvenient for you and put a damper on your stay. I also do sincerely apologize for the wait times you incurred with our elevators. We had an unexpected mechanical breakdown on Friday and unfortunately, had to wait for a part to arrive which of course was delayed by the weekend. I can understand how frustrating that must have been and regret that this was your experience. We pride ourselves on providing an enjoyable stay to all of our guests, and we are committed to doing so. I appreciate your feedback, which serves to help us do a better job in achieving that goal. I hope you will give us another chance to provide you with exceptional service in the near future so we can regain your confidence, and ask that you reach out to me directly before your next visit to Edmonton. Regards, Josh Solomon General Manager jsolomon@matrixedmonton.com

We were there on a Monday night and lovely lobby, quick check in, clean comfortable room with an awesome bathtub! when I went down to the lobby to meet my skip the dishes driver and asked for a bottle of water one of the staff was waiting with my water and used his key to press my floor as my hands were full. super service, great boxed breakfast and very quiet. 5/5 will stay again

We have stayed here many times in the past and been very pleased with the hotel. Had to come to Edmonton recently and was a little anxious about doing so during this pandemic. Stayed in a suite so we could eat takeout in our room, as many restaurants were closed for indoor dining.
The staff were friendly and helpful as usual, the room was very clean and the breakfast room well set up with good distance between tables. The menu was good and our server very helpful and attentive.
Hand sanitizer was readily available in many places.
I think the Matrix staff are doing a great job during a difficult time. We will stay here again.

We stayed here for just a single night, in town to see a hockey game. As someone else mentioned, the free ride to the arena was a nice surprise. And its close enough that we just walked back to the hotel after the game. Our room was comfortable - spacious with good lighting. There was a fridge with reasonably priced mini-bar stuff. We were going to go down to the bar for a drink and realize we could sit in the room and just drink what was in the fridge for similar price which was a more attractive option for us at the time. Chocolates on the pillow. Expresso machine in the room for morning coffee. We took advantage of the Happy Hour wine tasting which had snacks and two small glasses of wine each. What impressed me the most was a very nice breakfast in the morning. There is an exercise room - we didn't end up using it. There is some limited covered parking. WiFi worked well. We were lucky enough to score this parking which was great since it was snowing when we were there.

I stayed at the Matrix while attending a week long work training session nearby.
The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful. The room was clean, and the bed was very comfortable. It was very quiet at night, and I felt like the covid rules were followed so carefully- I felt very safe.
The coffee as well as the breakfast that was provided as a take away box was tasty and the staff even let us pick it up at 6:00 (earlier than those normal hours) as we had to leave for the training early each morning. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us.
There was a mini fridge in the room and the staff was willing to bring up a microwave and kettle if requested.
I loved that Starbucks was right outside the main entrance as well.
Thanks for making our stay so wonderful- we will happily book here again.

This is a very nice hotel with excellent staff.
I always use Hotels.com to book my hotel stays and have reached 'gold' status so I'm entitled to some free perks (like a free upgrade when available). When I booked our room, for a three night stay, I booked what I thought was the best room available but... when we checked in, I was told I had been given a free upgrade (which was awesome) but... the room we got was the room I booked and paid for. It was a very nice suite and my wife and I were very happy with most things in the room. The only exception was the sofa and chair, both were WAY too low and were extremely difficult to get out of and uncomfortable to sit in for any length of time. If you have any kind of mobility issues (i.e. bad knees or hips) these are not the chairs for you. The bed and bedding were extremely comfortable The bathroom was also excellent and the separate shower and tub were fantastic!
The complimentary breakfast was also fantastic with a full, cooked to order breakfast, served to your table.
Like many others I am going to gripe about the parking fee but you just have to accept that this is a downtown hotel and it doesn't matter what city you go to, you have to pay a fairly high day rate to park.
Finally there was a couple of minor deficiencies in the room which I reported to the desk clerk at checkout and he was genuinely interested in hearing about them and wrote my concerns down. I feel confident they will get addressed.
Would definitely recommend staying here for business or pleasure.

I have never felt more safe during this pandemic. You will see when you get there. Facemasks, plexiglass, hand sanitizer inside and outside of all elevators. Well done. I think they leave the room unatteneded for a few days before right now asw ell.

Having stayed at the Matrix many times, parking even for hotel guests can be a problem, especially, if there are events booked there. I note the individual posing the question may reside in Edmonton.
If so, I would definitely use public transportation. There is a stop just a few minutes away on Jasper Avenue with service to 1:00 a.m. Or as another reviewer suggested Uber or taxis. The parking authorities patrol this area diligently. Plus no worries if you wish to enjoy a libation. Enjoy.
Hello Amanda,
We have ample parking available on site in one of our 3 surface lots. Parking is $25 per day with unlimited in and out privileges.
Not sure but I would say no but don't remember any signs.
I believe it was 5:30 to 6:30. You are allowed two free glasses of wine during this period along with free snacks ad appetizers provided at a small buffet table.
Weekdays 6:30 to 09:00 weekends 7:30 to 10:30, lots of time
