Getting there
Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
I was given a room with a fireplace, I turned it on and the room became extremely warm. I was able to work and have a great sleep. The service was amazing I had asked to extend my stay for another night last minute and I was moved to a room without a fireplace and that wasn’t the best room it was too cold. I’m sure it had heating somewhere I just couldn’t figure it out. The hot foods for breakfast were yum but the pastries are quite dry and cold. The location is one of the best things about this hotel only a $6-9 to get to downtown from here and there is so much to do in whyte ave within walking distance as well! I’ll be coming back in January for sure!:)

This place has not disappointed ever. Having stayed there 4 different times, a few years between each, it has consistently delivered a clean, safe, comfortable room with a delicious breakfast in a location that lets you walk to all the fun you could want in Edmonton. Great service & location- will be back again for certain.

We were pleasantly surprised at our recent stay. Our room was spacious & clean. The breakfast was excellent. There was valet parking so we didn’t have to struggle to find a parking spot & it was much quieter than I thought it would be due to the location on Whyte Avenue. Ear plugs were provided just in case. Location is excellent & would definitely stay there again.

Lobby is beautiful a long with buffet area! Rooms are outdated and not up kept greatly! Beds at bottoms have holes, water damage in bathroom, my conditioner was previously used & was 1/2 empty! Parking was a joke we paid for valet, which is only $5 more than regular parking 1.5 blocks away. We requested our car for 5:30 AM, so I made sure to ask if the car would be swept off and heated up at that time and they said that it would be parked in an underground Parkade! When we came out at 5:30 car did not look like it moved from the front of the hotel it was covered in snow and still at -20. The reason I asked about this is so that I could give them my spare key to leave the car running.

Staff are friendly, and public spaces are well maintained. The rooms are in desperate need of a complete renovation. Carpets are “crunchy” and the beds are a soft mattress atop a platform bed which slides around and isn’t particularly comfortable. The heat seems to be an ongoing issue in rooms from other reviews and we experienced the same - heat on blast and an inability to control with the thermostat, being told to turn off the thermostat and to crack open the patio door, which obviously creates security concerns.
The bathroom is cramped and tiles show mildew in the grout. The pipes under the sink are fully exposed. The towels are small and thin and definitely smell and feel “eco friendly”.
Hallways are very dark.
Location is perfect for whyte Ave and is very close to campus, which is great.
Unfortunately I don’t think we would return unless we know that rooms have been fully and completely renovated.

Stayed here recently for 6 nights and had 1 King Bed Studio that I booked with Expedia. The room was a corner one on the 2nd floor, very spacious, with separate bedroom and living room with sofa bed and small kitchenette (including sink). The two rooms were separated by glass door/walls, but it was perfectly sufficient for two working adults. There was no cutlery in the kitchenette. The room also came with an outdoor patio with table and chairs. Very comfortable and well appointed room, even though it was a bit noisy due to air conditioning vents on the roof. The room came with complimentary breakfast (hot foods: meats, eggs, hash potatoes; cereals, fruit, yoghurt & fresh smoothies, bread etc) and it was quite nice and fresh. We also used their valet parking for oversized vehicles, and it was very convenient. All in all we had a good stay here, and would not hesitate to return when in the area.

I love this hotel and will book with them again. The service is amazing, and the hotel is clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast had a variety of choices and the service staff were the best I have seen. I love the location and parking options. I used the valet service and was impressed with the whole process. Keep in mind parking is 1.5 blocks away and the cost is $20. The valet was $25. I will stay there again for sure. Great shopping and eating is right out the door.

I love the Metterra hotel and book there everytime I go to Edmonton. It is on Whyte ave, so we are close to many interesting events. Also, right beside Julios Barrio (my fave “Mexican” resto) amd Yiannis (my fave “Greek” resto) - and then I just walk around to see what shops and happenings there are going on. In the afternoon, In summer, I love the rooms with balconies so I can sit outside and listen to Whyte ave buskers; in the winter I like the rooms with a fireplace - obviously.
The Metterra gym is simple yet good, which is a very important thing for me!
In the hotel, there are some hangout options in the evening in the 2nd floor lounge/breakfast area which are nice, but I did not get tonise those since there was a wedding using it that weekend.
One thing that I think would have been nice for Management to consider would be: a reduction in the room cost when an amenity is not available, and I find The GuestBook cash back or cash forward thing sort of annoying: please just reduce my room price at point of service.

We stayed at this hotel by recommendation from friends and the hotel did not disappoint. This location is at the center of White Ave activities which we enjoyed. The room was large and full of natural light. The bed was clean and comfortable. The only disappointing part was the lack of cleanliness of the floor and furniture. The furniture was worn out and stained. Of particular concern was the dried food on the kitchenette faucet and the glob of chocolate (I hope) on the TV remote. They have disinfecting wipes in the room that took care of these high touch areas. This lack of cleanliness on these high touch areas was a concern, but when mentioned to staff they offered an alternative room which we did not take advantage of. If I am rating the staff they get 6 Stars! They are very welcoming and accommodating. The experience with this room may be a rare occurrence, so we will definitely give the Metterra another chance. Note: If you are a light sleeper, the noise on White Ave may affect your sleep. So when booking arrange for a room at the rear of the hotel, or use the complimentary ear plugs.

Pleasant hotel with a nice fireplace lounge in the lobby. Convenient access to university , medical facilities and lots of antique shops. Complimentary valet parking works well. Many restaurants nearby.
Executive buffet breakfast includes choice of 4 hot dishes, fruit plate and yogurt.
Suggest booking rooms on the 8th floor to minimize traffic noise from Whyte Avenue
